Lighthouse Cafe of Sanibel Island

Had late morning breakfast and everything was fabulous! Had a 15-20 minute wait, but had nice conversation with some strangers while waiting, and time flew by. All the staff was super helpful, pleasant and welcoming! Our food arrived quickly, and looked as good as it sounded on the menu. It was better! Everything was delicious, perfectly prepaired and hot/cold as appropriate, even the coffee was perfect.

Obviously there is good reason people don't mind waiting. This was the best food we have had since being on Sanibel.

If you are looking for a breakfast/lunch spot, this should be on the top of your list. And.if you have a birthday in your party, be sure to mention it; nothing like singing happy birthday to a stranger is such a beautiful place topped off by a train whistle.

We will be back again!

This is absolutely the goto for breakfast when on Sanibel Island. Generous portions and cooked the way you like it, and on top of it they don't charge you an arm and a leg! I'll definately go back whenever I'm on the island again.

Not bad. The staff was wonderful. Don't order waffles if you want your food when the rest of the table gets it. The waffles came out about 15 minutes after the rest of the table got their food (there were 4 of us).

No hospitality! The front desk employee told me the he is the owner and can't put two tables together for nine people. He was indifferent with a poor mentality. If he is the owner I will recommend him to read the book "Shut up and Listen" there is no Spare client, every client is different and very important. The key word is Hospitality.

I would stay away from this place. Long lines does not equate to good food. Their menu looked pretty good and advertised some high rankings for good food in national lists. Their whole wheat pancakes are what they boast about but they were very dry and the blueberries did not seem fresh.

Their fruit of the day was non-ripe strawberries.

Breakfast potatoes had promise but we're highly over cooked and so crunchy and hard you thought you were going to break a tooth. They also tasted like fried vegetable oil.

The breakfast sandwich was pretty good, but that was the only positive thing.

Coffee was bland and weak.

Only a few spots on their patio.

Staff was somewhat friendly but was clearly overwhelmed. The host was very nice.

Food was amazing and so delicious! French toast was super tasty and I loved the seasoning on their potatoes. Our waitress seemed to have a bit of an attitude that could not be killed by any amount of kindness. I got the sense that we were treated as if we were some stuck-up rich people on vacation, just because we dressed up for breakfast. Left 20% tip all the same and just peaced out.

Everything about this Cafe is so perfect. The food, the service, the specials, the owner, the merchandise. You will have a perfect island breakfast (or lunch or dinner). We go every day we are on the island as a perfect start to our day. The Resturant is locally owned and a lot of the servers have been working there for many, many years. You may have to wait (there are stores on either side of the cafe where you can find special treasures while you wait), especially on the weekend and during season, but give it a try. You won't be disappointed!

My first visit. The food was affordable. Very nice greeting at the door. The server was pleasant, knowledgeable and professional.

Their Seafood Benedict was different and really good and the homemade hollandaise was the perfect topping.

If you like spicy bloody Mary's, you'll like their homemade blend.

Most definitely going back.

So nice had to go twice during our visit. Owners and staff are very welcoming. Food reminded me of the food I used to have while vacationing with my family when I was a kid. To see my very own kids enjoy the food is even better. Highly recommend and will come back for our next visit.

Such a great experience. The owner, Dan, is super friendly and kind, and the entire staff is wonderful, especially Steve, he is very nice and funny.
This is a quiet, quaint, perfect little restaurant for breakfast and lunch.

The lighthouse cafe was an amazing experience. The staff was so sweet and helpful. To eat i had the blueberry pancakes, they where excellent and I would definitely get this again. They accommodated our infant and made sure we felt comfortable. I would definitely recommend coming here.

Fast and friendly service with great tasting breakfast. The earlier the better for a parties over 2. My family visits every year and the LHC is a classic Sanibel staple. Be sure to grab some local jam on the way out to bring a taste of the island where ever you call home.

Love it here! We come back every year, it's always delicious! Excellent food and good portions too! It's neat to see all the pictures of lighthouses across the country and I appreciate that they tell you where they are located. The relative that took over for the original owner is doing fantastic! Thanks for keeping things as they are:)

This is our favorite restaurant on the island. Consistently great food and friendly service from the staff, many who have been there for years. The wait is worth it!

2022 Update: Still amazing and delicious.

Delicious! The Lighthouse Cafe is such a cute location with yummy food. I had the seafood omelet with fresh squeezed orange juice. The homemade preserves was an amazing addition, along with the fresh tomatoes.

Actually I do recommend this restaurant. The staff were nice. The food was fairly basic but tasty. Air Conditioning wasn't keeping up as they had the front door open. We were there for lunch. Not sure if they are open in the evenings. My Fiancé had a well made Bloody Mary.

Came for their famous breakfast and ended up with a loaded fish sandwich which was to die for! Thought there was an outside deck but only saw outside seating in the front. Call ahead to get your spot.

Not the world's best breakfast, and not worth waiting for! Not even the islands best. Potatoes were cold, corn beef hash was barely cooked and runny. Best part of the breakfast was toast and jelly. Many better choices.

I love the friendly staff and island feel, of The Lighthouse. The food is so good! You’ll see lots of people waiting to get in, because of the great experience. Everyone is chatting and enjoying the wait.

The Lighthouse Cafe is also a delicious place for dinner. I loved the menu and came back the following night to try the blackened mahimahi as Lia, the owner's lovely daughter, recommended. It had a kick, great spices. The mashed potatoes and grilled veggies were fabulous too. Great atmosphere, wonderful service. I traveled by myself and was thrilled to be treated with so much kindness. Thank you! Will tell friends about it. Terrific gem on Sanibel Island.
