Lightner Museum reviews
18Family friendly, very interesting, clean, organized and the exhibits are incredible. Loved the history!
Fairly unique with their collection of a vast history. It is jam packed with trivial knowledge, and the help there is fantastic.
Had a free sporadic around the museum and displayed collection. Well worth the entry to check out!
This is another historical building you need to visit when in St. Augustine. Once a hotel now a museum
Excellent visit! The family really enjoyed all the unique pieces of history found in this museum. Multiple floors to explore.
Gorgeous place, had a sandwich shop where we got snacks and cooled off. Exhibits were amazing. Architecture was Gorgeous!
Beautiful and intimate place for wedding ceremonies, lots of history all around St Augustine!
Eh, it's okay. Basically an old hotel with lots of old stuff, that could be cluttery and seemed like an old antique store. Old bikes was the best part. Could use an update. Not sure if it's worth the price of admission.
This is one of my favorite museums. There are several interesting collections on display that exemplify the opulence of the eras they’re from. My favorite part of the museum is that it’s housed in an old gilded age resort built by Henry Flagler. Many of the rooms include photos from the past and info to show what used to stand there. It must have been amazing to be a guest at the time. Not much on display to keep young kids very interested here but there are some shells, rocks/minerals, a mummy, and a taxidermied lion that might pique an older child’s interest. There was also a bicycle exhibit when I visited last with bikes from Victorian times. It’s a nice break from the FL sun to visit during the heat of the day and imagine life in a bygone era.
Cool place to visit. We didn't do it but being able to dine in the pool is a cool idea. Also saw a wedding, so beautiful!
Eclectic collection of oddities, history, and art. Fun way to kill an hour or two while connecting to the past.
Really enjoyed the eclectic collection of basically luxury home decor from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
If you are expecting a historical museum, this isn't it.
The Lightner Museum is awesome! It was great to go there and see all the awesome works of art. Learning all the history was cool. Without doubt going to The Lightner Museum is great idea! Have a great day!
Highly recommend! Absolutely beautiful collection. Very unusual antiques. Tiffini glass collection in a room that was stunning. Art work, gorgeous, antique furniture, the building itself is fascinating. Feel free to ask volunteers that are there to assist you. They are so helpful and so kind. They are very informative. We also ate in their café, excellent food. We were looking around for over three hours. Some people take 1 to 2 hours. It just depends on your interest. You do have to pay to park. We used the metered parking $2.50/hr. They have a very nice gift shop as well.
We had a wonderful time! Really neat collection of antique items. Along with detailed history. We were really impressed with the beautiful items, the staff and the cleanliness. It's a great choice to make on your vacation. Loved the info about the pool that was huge.
Our visit to the Lightner Museum ended up being our favorite activity during the entirety of our stay in St Augustine. The building and gardens alone are inviting but the collections were incredible! We have never seen such an eclectic collection of items and artifacts before. We particularly enjoyed the oddities and glass collections. You will see things here that you won't see in other museums. The information provided for the items helped us to appreciate their value and provenance. The remnants of the Hotel Alcazar added to the intrigue of the property. Huge shoutout to volunteer docent Nikki who engaged us with stories and further explanations and was a delight to chat with. We could have easily spent the whole day here.
If you like old stuff, this is your place. Either go multiple times or schedule plenty of time for a one time visit.
I was impressed by the collections in this museum and its architectural beauty. It was so stunning! I visited here while on vacation. I highly recommend stopping here if you are in the St. Augustine area.
