Only been there twice in 20 years. The food is good and the entertainment is cool. Prices are a little high if you're on a budget but worth at least 1 try.

Love this place, food is always good and the hibachi chefs are so fun!
I tend to order the file and shrimp and extra seafood sauce!

Been going to Makotos since I was a kid. Love this place and now my children go here and we love bringing large parties.

I go to this place like every week cause I'm to lazy to cook myself the food is great and the portions are more than enough for lunch and dinner

Makotos is easily my favorite restaurant in Melbourne. The lunch prices are reasonable and you get a ton of delicious food cooked right in front of you. Easily enough for two full meals. Chef Robert specifically is fantastic! He is easy to communicate with, personable, and very in tune with what people want. Love makotos!

Diverse menu, hibachi grill (call or check the website) during lunch and great place to lime with friends.

The chef took about 45 minutes to come to our table to start cooking. Food is good though. Maybe they just need more people. The server did not give my friend a salad and did not say anything.

Not a lot of options for vegetarians and vegans (friend rice made with chicken stock and tofu fried with same oil used to fry shellfish)

Good food.waitress was rude last time I was in. I asked for foil instead of Styrofoam & she did mine last, haven't been back.

Had to wait a few minutes but it was worth the wait food was cooked before us was fresh and delicious

A Melbourne tradition. True hibachi. Great food prepared on a table grill in front of you by excellent Japanese-style chefs.

This is always a really nice dining experience. All of the food is delicious and generously portioned. The service is great. And the show put on by the chefs creates a wonderful atmosphere. Very enjoyable every time we visit.

The hibachi chef was the best part of the meal. When we sat down the cook table was dirty with rice and food from what looked like the the previous night. Dry hard rice and grease build up on the table, what most people would call dirty. I had steak and scallops. Both were not high quality items. The scallops were soft, like they were frozen and thawed and the steak simply tasted cheap. For the money I'd go find someplace else to eat. If I had to sum up, I'd say cheap food at a premium price.

Great Hibachi for a good price. Lunch is CHEAP! Typically can make 2 meals from it.

Salad with their amazing ginger dressing, meat of choice, liver patty, rice, and glazed carrots for lunch. Dinner add a miso soup and grilled vegetables.

Chef David is AMAZING! I wont as for anyone else! And the shrimp mango tango is not to be missed. The filet is the most tender I have ever had! Will be visiting again many times in the near future!

Good food, service was good, a little slow on drinks and taking orders but it was a large table. The service stayed slow through lunch. The food was not slow, super fast cook and everything tasted great. No complaints from our table. Over all a good experience.

Go during lunch, prices are perfect if you know what to get. Friendly staff and amazing experience I come here all the time.
