Manhattan Subs & Gyros, Ocala FL

This is my go to location in the ocala area that gets missed about. They have some of the best authentic Gyros. They even make their own cucumber sauce that goes on it. They have plenty other options besides Gyros. You can eat in, take out and they also have a drive-thru

What happened here? They were so good before. Last 2 times that I went there, I was not impressed at all. The steak and cheese had very scarce amounts of pepper, onion, or mushroom. Greek salad was more or less a container of lettuce with very skimpy toppings.

Food here was pretty good. I had medium wings with fried shrimp and fries, and would’ve preferred the fries to of been a little more crispy and a little less seasoned, but I can certainly request that next time now that I know. The carrot cake was a little dry, it had probably been cut and in the cooler a day or two too long. What really irritated me was the dollar charge for refills on the drinks that were already too expensive and filled to the brim with ice in the first place. THAT is how you lose customers! I’ll bring my own drink next time.

Overall the food was pretty good, as well as the service. Ordered the gyro combo. The meat was yummy, and the portions were huge. The French fries could use improvement though.

Oddly enough the first meal was an impressive gyros, and since I've highly recommended to my associates, I now must retract these accolades, due to the Worst Philly cheese steak Ever. After checking with staff (thinking it's a joke) they said the (invisible) peppers, cheese & onions we're in the "juice". Even the meat (Alpo?) would make my dog sick.

Awesome food, friendly customer service. The only drawback, is a small bathroom that outside around the side of the building for use.

I needed a gyro. Sometimes you feel like a food, and today was a lamb gyro. The competition was my first pick but it was closed. Must be on that Chick-fil-A hours. So I swing by the next closest place. Manhattan. Solid name. And turns out, rock solid lamb gyros. Get the fries with it. It was top dollar carry out at around 8 or 9 bucks, but worth it to the next level. So. Much. MEAT! Sauce was on point and toppings plentiful. I might stop in and have one on my way home!

In addition 3 weeks later: I finally went back. Same quality. I ordered 2 gyros this time. One for dinner. Another to mince up with breakfast. Absolutely sensational. Honestly cannot sing this praise loud enough. One more time for the kids in the back. If you haven't gone yet you are missing out.
