Stayed here two nights for a funeral. (9/20 -9/22) Night staff was not friendly at all. As we checked in, the guy at the front desk was more concerned with his co-worker having a new pair of earrings than showing us salutations, being hospitable, or showing us any interest what so ever. As if we were annoying him by interrupting his flirt session with the guy next to him

We arrived at our room after our long drive to find no soap or shampoo in the shower. No one answered when we called the front desk to alert them.

Next evening upon our return from the funeral. We greeted the guys at the desk as we entered the hotel, only to meet with a blank, annoyed stare.

Returned to our room and still no shampoo and shower gel. This time, the other fellow got things squared away.

Our experience was disappointing considering our reasons for staying there. Our sons said they experienced the same when they checked in on Wednesday evening as well. Our hotel preference is always the Marriott brand, as we are Lifetime Platinum members. Again, we are so disappointed in the Jacksonville Downtown Marriott.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, and great bar/restaurant! Everyone was extremely nice to me such as Carrie and Shawn except for this fat employee named Mike who was at the Front desk. I’m not sure how he’s still employed because I saw him starting a fight at the front desk with other customers. That is unacceptable and unprofessional for a Marriott

Not at all what I'd expect from a Marriott. To set the stage- I meant to book the Hyatt (about a block away) as we were in town for an NFL game. I booked the Marriott by mistake- and came to regret it.

The location isn't horrible; however, it's dead center in a downtown block. There’s active construction and one-way streets so that makes it a hassle. The only Marriott parking is a neighboring parking garage for $25 valet-fee. Note- they adjusted the price for “special events” to $29. What really set the tone is the attendants put handprints all over my freshly waxed truck- not just the edge of the window; but the attendant drove down with his arm out the window and hand on the middle of the door. Have some respect for other people’s property! I hate valet to begin with and this just reaffirmed that.

The hotel lobby, bar and restaurant were nice enough. The elevators smelled like mildew. The room was big and clean. However, the TV was noticeably small for the room. More notably; the TV "brightness" was turned very low so the picture was annoyingly dim. The remote is one of the "hotel specific" remotes and doesn’t allow access to the TV settings. Likewise, the manual settings on the TV were disabled. As such, I attempted to watch the Sunday night game on my phone; but Wifi was an additional fee. You either had to be a member of the Marriott "Bonvoy" group (sign-up and agree to their spam contact list) or enter your room number / name and pay for the $10 or $15 daily Wifi fee. Absolutely ridiculous! What “supposed” 4-star chain charges for Wifi anymore?

Moving on- the thermostat in the room was old and set to Celsius. Not a big deal, as you can see the numbers increasing and decreasing, but c'mon- use the system native to the country you’re in! And last- the mattress was very uncomfortable. It felt like it was sagging towards the center, as well as at the head level. The pillows were nice though.

Overall, if this had been a Holiday Inn; I'd have been content with the accommodations. But for a Marriott and the price-point, this was deplorable. If you need to stay downtown, especially for an NFL game- book the Hyatt.it's comparatively priced, right on the water, has a plethora of indoor self-parking and the rooms are comfortable with free Wi-Fi. You got me once, Marriott- never again.

"Tried" to have a wedding block booked here but it's hard when everyone's on different floors. Made it very unpleasant for our group. What I'd warn people of is Parking/valet is its own mess. There is truly nowhere to unload. There is a small, often very congested, driveway at the lobby door but no one to direct traffic so you have people "trying" to park there or drive up the wrong way. Marriott you really should look into a door person or someone to direct the mess of cars because that was enough for me not to book again. Not worth the hassle.

If you’re Black, go ahead and skip this hotel, Beloved. We stayed because we were driving from New York and were exhausted. But… we should’ve just held out.

The person at the front desk was being the most when it came to us paying for the room. As we were checking out we noticed a Black couple having issues with the front desk people as well.

On top of that you are overcharged for valet. There are hidden fees. You have to pay for wifi. The room was not clean, and the floor was damp. The shower curtain was yucky.

This was definitely not a 4-star hotel experience. At least it was very close to the I-95, so we were able to hit the road faster.

First, I cannot say enough amazing things about Katie T.who was working the front desk. I was on the verge of a breakdown because everything that could go wrong before I arrived did (unrelated to the hotel) and she was the light that changed the trajectory of my day! She was understanding, efficient, and eager to help. She went above and beyond to deliver top notch customer service. Katie is a shining star. About the hotel, I love the location! I stayed for my friend’s wedding that was downtown and it was so nice being able to walk to the downtown attractions or grab a lime scooter. If you are athletically inclined, there is a great running path along the waterfront that leads to an outdoor gym. Of course the hotel has a nice fitness center, but if you like to get out and get some fresh air, the path is perfect! The valet team was courteous and efficient. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get our cars! Finally, we had a great experience at the bar! The bartenders were great and it was the perfect meeting place for our friends and family to gather before and after the wedding related festivities. I highly recommend this hotel! And if you get to meet Katie, your day will be better for it!

Constant, unpleasant smells everywhere. Lobby, elevator, hallways. Not great. Fitness center was really low end. Bar was nice. Valet was understaffed and long waits.

Hotel was acquired by Marriot from Omni. Lobby appears to be renovated but guestrooms are quite dated. Location is average with some rundown downtown areas. If the room didnt smell so musty and old, this could be rated higher.

Room433 is not a good room to have because it is a SkyView look out by the pool, which is great until you realize you can't open the sliding glass door to enjoy the pool and the view. And the tub was making some crazy sound and the in the tub the water wasn't going down right and had a bad smell too. My husband travels all over the country and is a long time valued member. We usedhis points to get this room for our One year Anniversary of being married.we will not be staying at any more Marriott Hotels if this is the expectation. With this economy being what it is, these points become even more valuable, and are supposed to be an award for our patronage, not wasted on outdated facilities with rude employees.

The bar/restaurant closed unexpectedly a couple times. Would've been fine but there is no where walkable to go eat or shop. Bar service was often slow, but drinks were good. Rooms were nice, valet was really kind. Just wish there had been food regularly available in the hotel or nearby because we were hungry pretty often, especially being here for a dance event. Valet was disorganized and understaffed. No one answering phones and our car forgotten several times. Gave them my valet card, the two folks in front of us got their cars, then about 20 minutes later I reminded about my car and was told "well there's a line. " So. Guess it doesn't matter that they retrieve cars in random order. You'll be stuck waiting for your car and literally be the last car brought forward even though you were 3rd in line. He then came up and asks "do you have your card? " And i again reminded him i gave it to him now 25 minutes ago.

Location and 4th floor pool is cool, but the service and the rooms were sub bar. Smell and renovations going on with no accommodations

I stay at this location for business (once each month) and so far I’ve been given a room that’s been very quiet (thankfully!) and peaceful. I cannot say how much that means to me. I don’t sleep well when away and even the slightest “different” noises will wake me. This last time my room didn’t seem to get very cool and was way too warm for me, but it was quiet so I picked my battle and left well enough alone.
The front desk staff has been very pleasant and professional. I’ve not been to the restaurant so I can’t speak on that.

The rooms here are about two hundred dollars a night. But Wi-Fi is an extra ten dollars. There’s no included breakfast. The elevators are confusing for first time users. The pool closes at 8. And lastly, we’ve tried to call room service AND the front desk to ask questions and there was no answer to either. The room itself appears clean but has a weird smell. At least it’s close to 5 points and the employees at the valet were really nice.

The hotel was really nice, but the food was not. I paid a pretty penny to a fish dinner and southwest egg rolls. However, because they were running a half menu due to the holiday, there wasn't much to choose from outside of fast food, and it was awful. I winded up ordering Uber because it was too late in the evening to get reservations somewhere else in the city. I've stayed at a lot of hotels with Marriot, and this one missed several marks. We had issues with the TV that was resolved thanks to maintenance and elevator, side doors, and room mobile key. The bed was the best part about the stay and our room was very clean, so that accounted for something. Regardless, we will not be returning to this location in the future.sorry, guys.
