The Martial Arts Center for Health is transformative for your well-being, both physically and mentally. The staff members are caring, professional and encouraging. No matter your age, condition, present or past experience, this is the place you belong. The benefits are real and ever growing. I am a military veteran, have played most sports and been active my entire life. However, at age 79 I began to experience dizziness, higher blood pressure, and loss of muscle mass. On the advice of a friend, I joined MACFH and am now beginning my 6th month. Gone are the dizzy spells and high blood pressure. I am also experiencing improved core strength and much better balance. Classes are challenging and instructors are 1st rate. My overall plan now is to continue until I am unable to walk thru the door.

MACH has proven to be the perfect place for my son because of the nurturing environment that continually promotes and encourages a healthy growth of both the mind and the body.

My son first attended a free trial lesson to see if MACH may be a good fit for him. During this lesson it was apparent that the students regularly treat each other with respect and kindness. It is clearly modeled by the instructor who likewise communicates and teaches each lesson in a respectful manner with children of all ages. After this first lesson, my son chose to continue attending classes regularly. Now, several months later, he still enjoys participating several times a week. From his training, I notice increased confidence and determination during his class, but also at home as he completes schoolwork. I believe it has also helped give him some options with how to deal with his anxiety. The instructor teaches the students as a group but also individually checks with each child during the class to modify movements, so they can be tailored to their abilities. The students regularly learn about which muscles and bones are the focus of each movement. This helps them create a connection between how one movement can impact the body and where. In our society when so much happens in front a screen, MACH is a welcome diversion and better use of my son’s time.

First of all, I want to thank Martial Arts of Health for transforming the lives of many, including mine. Before I came to this place, I used to be a different person. Most of the time, I was feeling irritated. I was having trouble concentrating during my studies. And last, I wasn’t enjoying working or my personal life. Being part of the complete program in the Martial Arts Center of Health has been great. I only have ten months of training, and besides the physical and mental strength that I have gained so far, I feel more focused, determined, energetic, and joyful. Also, one of my favorite exercises is Qigong. Just 5 minutes of Qigong makes me feel energized and relaxed the next day. It releases a lot of stress from my body and makes me sleep great.
My son is also part of the Martial Arts of Health kid’s program. He only trains one day a week, but I have seen tremendous changes in his life. He used to get demotivated in whatever activity he was doing, especially sports, but now he is more energetic and confident. Martial Arts of Health has been the right combination for my son with his other extracurricular activities. It has helped him with his memorization, eagerness, and life stress. I am so happy to see my son is growing both physically and mentally strong every day. And, what I like the most is enjoying playing outside. I heartily recommend this place to anybody of any age, especially kids.

Updated testimonial! I have been coming to MACH for 6 months now, and the words that comes to mind when I think about my experience at the Martial Arts Center for Health are WORLD CLASS. The leadership and instruction is incredible. They have built a thriving community of health-focused people of all ages. The instructors are absolutely committed to their craft and ensuring every student is tended to and given all the support they need - both in and out of the studio - to thrive. Matt & Scott have become real friends and our relationship goes far beyond the studio. These guys and the other leaders truly care about each student in a way that is special. Our family has lived in Orlando for 15 years and we just moved across the continent; the thing we will miss most is our time and community at the studio. If you have an opportunity to join this community, do not hesitate: DO IT. You will not regret it. It is worth every penny and far beyond that. Places and people like this are rare. I am grateful for my time there.

The Martial Arts Center for Health is a true gem of Orlando. As a 16-year resident, I would say unequivocally this establishment is the most professional of any of health and wellness concept in all of Orlando. It is truly world class. The leadership and instructors have produced an extraordinary environment that is quite rare. They have built a community of individuals committed to healthy minds, bodies and spirits and whom honor and respect one another. The instructors are true masters of their craft. They can lead a full class where ages range from teens to those in their 80s, with participants all at varying degrees of experience, and meet each student where they're at. This has come from thousands of hours of experience and intentional study and leadership. Above it all, they deeply care about each of their students and demonstrate that commitment in myriad of ways.

The Martial Arts Center for Health is a welcoming place that has taught me much in the short two years I have attended so far. Through the instruction I have received, I have learned not only great exercises and self-defense techniques, but also gained much self-confidence and discipline that I have taken to other areas of my life. At work (waiting at the time of this writing), I am able to keep a focused mind and think clearly even in the midst of something like an afternoon dinner rush. I highly recommend the MACH if you are looking for a place to learn martial arts, self-cultivation skills, or anything in between.

Have you ever made a decision that turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened in your life? Well in my case when I discovered the martial arts center for health in Altamonte Springs, Florida, I may well have uncovered a fountain of youth, love, and light.

Since joining this illustrious organization 10 years ago, I have met the most committed and dedicated wellness martial artist instructors as well as fantastic associates including the owner Tom Curtain. I have found his leadership, instruction, kindness and camaraderie consistent with a unique center of excellence. In addition Tom and his staff provide excellent practical guidance as we journey through life’s peaks and valleys. Each and every instructor is dedicated to the development of the total health (mind, body, spirit) and well-being of each individual. Each person is treated with such dignity and respect and a program is designed for individuality as well as for corporate success. Lessons that are learned are life long nuggets of silver and gold useful in times of calamity or calm.

It is very rare to find a sense of oneness, clarity and peace of mind incorporated with ancient wisdom, contemporary science, sprinkled with love and gratitude at the same location that you are earning how to defend yourself. While the study of Kung Fu, tai chi or Qigong is valuable as an anti-aging therapy on its own, this center also specializes in helping you defend your physical immune system as well as your emotional immunity. If you are trying to build your own self confidence or confidence in human integrity, I invite you to come in for a demonstration to see for yourself. You will be both challenged and rewarded for the input of time and energy and resources. Come in to be restored, regenerated, or reinvigorated. You will never be the same, only better. This could be one of the best decisions of your life.

As a retired physician in the field of Integrative medicine and a believer in improving our energetic physiology, I can recommend no higher experience then the Martial arts Center for Health in Central Florida.

The Martial Arts Center for Health has truly been a blessing in my life. The instructors are very knowledgeable but also kind, patient and supportive. As a result of the support and encouragement of the instructors and owners of the Center, not only have I greatly increased my physical strength and co-ordination but my stress level have also improved. I would encourage anyone to become involved in the Martial Arts Center for Health

This is an update to my previous review above. I have now been a student at the Martial Arts Center for Health for 5 years. I am a 55 year old Mental Health Counselor. Because of my training at the Martial Arts Center I am in better shape physically than I have ever been. When I started my training I was having pain in my knees. After working with the instructors for a few months the pain in my knees are gone and my legs are stronger than they have ever been. My training has also helped me to get stronger and more focused mentally and emotionally. I have been able to use these newly developed strengths to meet professional and personal goals outside of my training at the Center.

I am writing this review to help people understand the benefits of training my mind and body at the Martial Arts Center for Health. I have had some martial arts training as a young man living in New York. I did enjoy the training but it was kinda violent. I found this school about 15 years ago and trained with my son. We went for awhile but migrated away from it. Well something drew me back to the center and i'm glad it did. I feel so much more confident in my physical abilities and my focus is really improving considerably. I have been playing golf for many many years in an amateur tour setting. I had an auto accident years ago and haven't been winning on the tour. Well after training at the center for about three months I have won 2 tournaments in the last 3 weeks! I am starting to notice a pattern and I attribute my feelings and recent success to my training at the Martial Arts Center for Health. The environment and the trainers are awesome! Chris G.

Because of the Martial Arts Center for Health and the OUTSTANDING instructors, I am physically and mentally in the best shape of my life. There are no words to truly explain the difference this place has made for me. (I've been a student for 1-1/2 years.) I aim to attend 4-5 days a week, as it is my "grounding, " my "stabilizer, " my "center peace. " It is not what you think of as traditional martial arts. MACH is about flexibility, mobility, physical and mental strength, focus, movement - a complete (and very sweaty) workout every time. The classes have plenty of variety so you never get bored. The people who attend are all shapes, sizes, and ages as well as are dealing with various emotional/physical personal challenges. For example, I have pretty severe scoliosis. I was told I'd be "locked up with arthritis" by a medical doctor as I age. I am the farthest thing from that description! You have to stick with MACH to get all the benefits, and be committed. But, when you're hooked like I am, it's guaranteed to be a wonderful part of every day.

I have been going to MACH for about 4 months. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2009, and my doctors have all said I should be doing physical exercise, especially weight bearing exercise. I have never been able to stick to an exercise program in my life. Either I got bored within weeks or I would injure myself by being over enthusiastic. But I absolutely love this place! The instructors are knowledgeable, caring, and enthusiastic. The program challenges my body and my mind, and I leave every class loving it more each time. The one-on-one attention you receive from all the instructors is unprecedented, and the program is easily adapted to each participant. The studio is beautiful and welcoming, the other students are friendly and helpful, and there are so many people here who have been going for years and years. This is a testament to the success of this program and the kind and wonderful people who work here. I hope to be a member for years to come.

I started at Martial Arts Center for Health (MACH) 3 years ago. About 6 months into my training here, I found myself getting into trouble at work and I could not understand why. I'd been in the corporate-government arena for 15 plus years and was very effective with my skill set. I was a good employee, conscientious and hard working. I also was in a very negative environment and I did not realize how that negativity had tainted my thought processes and even my conversations at work. I ended up getting written up, reported to HR, put on probation with an improvement plan, and lost any chance of a raise for over a year. That really shocked me.

But I kept coming to MACH. I come an average of 3 - 5 times a week, sometimes even 6 times a week. I can count the # of Friday evening Qi Gong classes i've missed on 1 hand.

What MACH did for me was it helped me to feel better about myself and within myself. Holding positions, focusing, sweating, pushing so I hear my own heart beat, so I feel my own blood pulsing through my body, improving my body, improving my forms, feeling my breath, breathing hard, learning to control my breathing while pushing through... All this helped me to push out negativity that I had allowed to enter my personal field and being, and bring in positivity on all levels: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It helped me to be able to honestly and enthusiastically say "YES! I am so glad to be here! I am so HAPPY to be alive" and to really FEEL GOOD about myself and FEEL GOOD inside, even though I was still in the midst of a LOT of negativity.

I am sharing this because about a month ago my new boss (at the same job) asked me when the last time was that I received a raise. Not an annual escalation, but an actual promotion/raise. In true form, I told him about being written up. He listened to the story, and then told me he was glad I was on his team (there are 7 of us). He said he would not be able manage our division if I were not there to lead the others and to step in and help them when they get lost or overwhelmed, along with handling my own workload.

This past week I earned the biggest promotion I'd ever received from a corporate job, and I earned the biggest increase in income that I've ever earned before!

I believe this change is attributed to all the work I'm doing at MACH. It truly is invaluable and the investment we put into ourselves at Martial Arts Center for Health comes back to us 10 fold, on every level.

I learned about wonderful this place from friend of mine that's been going to this center for many years and really benefited a lot from it. I was going through a difficult time in my life and thought this might be a good way to help me get through it. That ended up being one of the best decisions I could have made! The atmosphere here is very friendly and welcoming. It's been great learning a different way to improve my health and with people I now call my friends. The instructors do their best to give you lots of individual attention and to put you at ease and as you learn all the variations of the martial arts they teach. I've been here almost a year and my body is a lot more toned and stronger. This is the most optimal place to care for yourself in all aspects. I feel like this the best preventative care for me as I age. It really is a center for health. I wish I would have started here a long time ago. Even though I'm a very health oriented person, it's taken that to a whole new level. The variety of what they teach is way beyond of what I expected and I love it all! I go almost daily. As an entrepreneur for over 20 years with a busy and varied schedule I like the multiple class times and feel this is the best medicine to manage stress. I really enjoy the people who come here and along with the exercise, I have made a lot of friends.
If you're looking for a nice addition to your life and you're considering martial arts, please give it a try! You'll be glad you did!

I have been attending classes at Martial Arts Center for Health for a little over 3 years. The longest I ever went to a gym was about 3 months. This place is addictive in a good way, and they make it convenient with having 3 classes a day for four weekdays, two classes for Friday and one on Saturday. My only wish is that I would have started sooner. I am a 69-year-old great grandmother and just wonder where I could be today if I had started sooner. My goal is to be a black belt by the time I am 72.

I have grown so much in the last 3 years in a good way. I have muscles in places where I never had them, I think in my life! I love flexing my forearms and seeing those muscles pop up. At first, I thought I was deformed! And at first, I was worried that I had lumps in my stomach only to realize that they are muscles. I don’t think I’ve had those since my babies were little-over 40 years ago. I feel my bones are so much stronger and I feel so much stronger all over. I haven’t been sick in over 3 years. I am loving the way my body feels.

In addition to feeling so much better, between my diet and MACH, I have been able to remove metformin for diabetes, blood pressure medicine, and cholesterol medicine from my daily intake! And I’ve lost inches and can now get into a size 14 from originally an 18. I actually feel better than I’ve felt in my 40’s and 50’s. I plan on being here well into my 80’s and encourage anyone and everyone to come and try it out. You can have a free hour meeting with an instructor to check it out.

Can’t say enough good things about the center, I joined to rehab my knee from a torn ACL but I found their program went well beyond that.
I have increased my flexibility, strength and balance in an amazing environment since joining seven months or so ago!
My knee is better than ever and highly recommend the Martial Arts Center for Health.

Kids' Class!
My 9 year old son has been studying martial arts at the Martial Arts Center for Health for about 9 months. He is hooked and recently told me that he wants to “dive deep” into his martial arts training with MACH. The kids’ classes at MACH are invaluable! I particularly appreciate the mutual respect between instructors and students at MACH and also the fact that there is a strong focus on safety, education, health and self-defense without aggression. Instructors and students demonstrate respect, dignity and humility while at the same time the students gain a sense of self worth, build strength and skill and learn how to fend for themselves.
Let me offer my son’s perspective in his own words: “I really like the form and how it’s connected to the body; each movement that you do is connected to the body in some different way. We learn all about the bones and the organs and we learn about muscles and the anatomy. We learn different things about breathing. Before each class we sit and breathe, then we have a warm up, we learn kicks and blocks … I’ve gotten much better reflexes for sure, because he challenges us. He would never actually hit us but with the tip of the pad, he goes for our face, and we have to block up or block down or block back because sometimes he circles around us and we have to just stay in one place. If you can’t do something at first, it’s OK, you learn. They build you up mentally and make you stronger. ”
When I was looking for a place for my son to study martial arts, I was particularly interested in a place where I knew he would be safe, he would be treated with kindness and respect and he would learn discipline and self-defense without being taught to be angry or aggressive. I found the place. I recommend The Martial Arts Center for Health without reservation for adults and children!

I have been in several “workout” venues where the program took me just so far. But in my 49 years of living I cannot think of a time or place where I have been not only challenged but completely motivated to far exceed my own expectations of myself. I am a marathon runner and I have never felt THIS GOOD in my body, mind & spirit like I do here at Martial Arts Center for Health. I have lost several inches and sizes since I began only a couple of months ago, and I am eating! My family life has completely turned around, and we as a unit are feeling happier and more blessed than ever. I can hardly believe the care and compassion WITHOUT judgement that I feel and now give to myself because of attending this amazing center. The instructors are of a quality that is unmatched around our country and I am so humbled and thankful to be a part of such an amazing community of people with immeasurable great qualities! I feel as though I’m being nurtured in such a positive OCEAN of a mental, spiritual and physical atmosphere, and I am setting goals and achieving them every time I am there and it feels so good! I am believing in myself as I never have and I know if I make it through the doors they will be there ready to come along and help take me where I want to go. Thank you all so very much for giving your lives to those who desire to learn and grow and thrive!

I'm forever grateful for the invitation to come to the Martial Arts Center for Health. It has been a life changing experience. I just finished up 6 months of training. In this short amount of time I feel as if I'm on the road of regaining control of my health, both physically and mentally. After spending many years in the gym and competing in body building, it has taken a toll on my body, causing a loss of flexibility and joint pain. But through the martial arts center for health training program, I have experienced amazing transformation. In six months, I have lost 12 lbs, regained flexibility and have energy like never before. The instructors are GREAT. They have a genuine interest in your well being and you can't help but see the passion they have for helping and serving others. They are always encouraging you to come, so that you can get the most out of the program. I'm 55 year of age and would never have thought that I could get so much out of this type of training. This place is AMAZING and I look forward to experiencing the benefits that will come as I continue on this journey. I'm forever grateful for my buddy JT's invite and for the encouragement and commitment of the instructors. Thank you ALL!
