I am a veteran and since returning home in the late 90s, I received much of my care from the Miami VA. However, at some point, I stopped receiving my care from them until 2013/2014. My return encounter was greeted with rudeness and unprofessional conversations from the nurse practitioner. After I shared my experience with a fellow veteran, he recommended I move my primary care needs to the Broward VA, William Bill Kling Medical Center. There is a huge contrast between the two facilities and because I love the care, compassion, and professionalism the Broward VA continued to display, that's where my care remains. Yet, on many occasions when I attend in-person appointments at the Miami VA or speak with staff such as those working in Transportation/Travel, I'm greeted with rude attitudes and insulted. Honestly, the entire system can benefit from "sensitivity training" and "CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING", neither of which they display or provide.

I would rate the Miami VA and their staff as a one star but not all of the staff fit the culture of rudeness and unprofessional behavior. It's the bad apples in the batch that has the entire system appearing and smelling rotten.

My experience compared to the other VAs have been great. I have been impressed by the level of professionalism and the availability with most of my appointments. My best VA experience thus far

Great facility. Mostly attentive. Some male Veterans can make you a bit uncomfortable as a young female veteran. Great maternity care program but only because of Andrea Miller. This place would be 5 Stars if the had a maternity ward. I’ve had trouble these last few weeks getting consistent care because if you’re pregnant the VA will not attend you. They will send yu automatically to Jackson unless you refuse the transfer. Please please please I want to be seen at the VA I don’t feel comfortable or understood elsewhere.

I am a OEF Vet and this hospital has always been amazing! I hear all these horror stories about the VA but they do not apply to me. I have been receiving care from here since 2012 and I’m so thankful for them. I’ve made a lot of progress thanks to them! I highly recommend

I took my wife to the Miami VA medical today, for an eye appointment. I stayed in the car with my 10 yrs old granddaughter. After approx 2 hrs waiting for my wife. My granddaughter needed to use the bathroom. I walked her to the front door where a security guard walked out to me before I could enter and said she was not allowed inside, she has to be 18 yrs old to enter. I explained that she just needed to use the bathroom, which he responded that I would have to go somewhere else. I was astonished at this, and felt that this could not be am institution that frowns on family member of veterans who honorably served for a simple need of using their facility for a very basic need. This was @4: 23Pm on 07.05.2022.my Granddaghters comment was is this for real! "out of the mouth of babes". I could not help but think this is an overzealous person, at least I would hope so.my wife's experience with the eye clinic staff was great.

The VA really tries to take care of the veterans in the best ways possible; since the recent change of government, the staff is over worked and limited in many ways, but it is a great place, good hospital, great clinic, and most people care for people.

Hats off to the Eye Lab Team! Unbelievable service all around. Had Cataract surgery both eyes. The coronavirus slowed the process but, I CAN SEE! Back to my 20-20! Words can Describe! Super team! Thank You all!

ABUSE @ HIGHEST LEVELS! Dr ALBASHA and 4 pain clinic providers, medical director, and CEO are all being leagally accused of neglecting the care of a poor homeless several disabilities veteran of a foreign war. They think letting veterans die alone and in pain is OK. I have the emails to prove it.
Someone please investigate this place from top down!

I want to file compliant unfriendly, apathetic staffing, delayed care and not patient centered care approach. Unfriendly visiting hours hard to visit or see patients on nursing time apparently nursing staff doesn't get people ready until 12pm. I was coming from Orlando the staff refuse to accommodate seeing my veteran friend in the morning. The told me come at 12pm or 3pm. Expect me to leave at night and drive back to Orlando in Miami traffic. All staff at the Miami va is rude and apathetic.

We were visiting a patient today, and really had a great experience here. When we first arrived, there was a bit of the wait as they had to make sure we were allowed to visit. Your name has to be on an approved list, and then vetted, which wasn't quite down when we had arrived. However, with the help of some super friendly staff, we were able to go upstairs to visit!

Every physician, nurse, and employee we encountered were very friendly. The patient rooms are small, but do have some state of the art tech for the patient (i.e. Entertainment, medical records, meal ordering service, etc.). I was impressed!

The parking lot is large and not too far from the main entrance, and the corridors in-between are covered and have large fans to keep the air moving.

Overall, this is a great facility. And really, don't we need great for our veterans? ! I think so!

Absolute nightmare. It’s located in quite possibly the worst location on planet earth. Then, when you finally do arrive, you have to pray to the lord Jesus that there is a parking spot available. If not you’ll be aimlessly driving in circles until by some luck you find someone leaving. The place is completely understaffed and filled with people aimlessly walking the halls with boom boxes blasting music. The hospital does nothing about these hang-arounds taking up parking spots and clogging the halls.

On several occasions I’ve spent an hour and half fighting Miami traffic just to get to there and find out my appointment has to be cancelled or rescheduled because someone didn’t come into work. Instead of immediately calling the patient to tell them not to come they wait for you to show up to tell you they have to reschedule. So disrespectful to peoples time. Served my country for 10 years just the be treated like another number but the people trusted to care about us.

ZERO STARS! These people make service connected combat vets wait for hours to speak to a human being because they have a broken automated system. Then when you talk to a human, 99% are too incompetent to connect you to the correct extension. This process takes hours out your day, sometimes over the course of multiple days. God forbid they have any sort of human decency or compassion for combat veterans suffering from daily migraine attacks from TBI due to being blown up in combat while these civilians were back home sitting around on social media. Not to mention the negative effect this all has on the veterans mental health. The VA is absolutely disgusting! Fix it! We don't want excuses we want results!

I had an amazing experience with the gold team at the Miami VA medical center on 5/25/22. I have been experiencing some knee pain. I had called last week and was advised to walk in on Thursday 5/26/22. Well the pain had gotten worse and more frequent not to mention, I had another appointment scheduled for the Thursday, I decided on my own to show up on Wednesday 5/25/22 and I was pleasantly surprised with the promptness of everything that took place and the short amount of time it took. I was seen, did blood work, urinalysis and Xrays oh I most certainly forgot the quick trip to the pharmacy to pick up pills that are not working at the minimal level but that does not take away from the service I received. Just when I thought customer service was just for people who can afford it. My experience today has temporarily changed my view. Thank you to all departments and people that were involved with me today.

This is a mixed review. The facility is the worst I've seen next to Dallas VAMC. It's absolutely filthy. The service in the Women's Clinic is awful. Completely disorganized with a bunch of residents and inexperienced young doctors. I switched out of there to a better team. The signage is bad in the building but many people I've met are really helpful. So I give the people that I've met working there 4 stars. ER was very good when I was there months ago. The cafeteria is freezing cold and not the cleanest, but the food selections are good. No one returns phone calls. I haven't heard from my PCP in over a week. I waited for an hour in Prosthetics. There are a lot of homeless veterans at this VAMC. This place is terrible.
