I have been to this shop two times now. I could not be happier with the whole experience. Very friendly, and they were on time for both of my appointments. Very fairly priced for the quality of service provided. I will continue to get my haircuts from Joe LaMarca. He is an amazing Master Barber. I highly recommend him, and Modern Gents. Fives star all the way!

I have never been to a barbershop that also has a bar, so it made for a nice experience. The cut was good and the cocktail was good also. Just wish there was some place where I could lock my bicycle outside.

I have been using Modern Gents - both UTC and Lakewood Ranch locations) for a little over two years. One of the things that both places have in common is that I never was taken back close to my appointment time, usually a minimum of 20 minutes late. Today I tried again to go to a 2: 30pm appointment. After I sat there for 27 minutes PAST my appointment time, the receptionist asked if I'd like to been seen by another barber. I said I did not make an appointment with another barber and walked out right at 30 minutes past my appointment time. I have used three different barbers between both locations. One of the barbers never listened to what I wanted and got a horrible haircut. The other two gave me a decent haircut once I got in the chair. If you want a "hit or miss" haircut that you are guaranteed to not get in the chair anywhere close to your appointment time, then give Modern Gents a chance but when you sit past your appointment time (over & over & over.) don't say you weren't warned.

My 11 year old has a tough time with haircuts but Brittany at Modern Gents made this a pleasant experience. Thank you Brittany for being amazing, talented & kind. Milo looks like a million bucks!

This was my first time there. It’s a nice place and the lady did a good job on my haircut but trimmed off sections of my facial hair without me asking before I realized what she was doing. I will be back and will make sure to specify not to touch my facial hair!

I really wanted to like modern gents, the shop is clean and modern, the staff is friendly and it’s a very convenient location for me.

I’ve been here for my last 3 cuts and haven’t been completely happy with any of them but this last one prompted me to write a review. Each time I’ve asked for a fohawk fade which is a fairly standard cut. Below is a brief timeline of my last 3 visits.

My first visit wasn’t too bad, except the barber didn’t seem too comfortable doing fades. It took her about 45minutes just for the sides and she left a pretty abrupt line in the fade so it wasn’t clean. Not to mention because she had taken so long to do the sides my skin was red and irritated for a couple of days.

Second visit I actually got a very good fade, it was a little lower than I like but the fade was good. Unfortunately he didn’t clean the top very well and left me with really uneven hair in the back and cowlick area that I didn’t notice until I had gotten home.

The most recent visit I called and made sure I was getting someone who could do a skin fade and was assured it wouldn’t be a problem. Got tot he appointment and the barber said you want a two? I told him specifically I wanted a skin fade and gave him the height about 1/2 inch above my ear. He proceeded to give me a regular cut…not even remotely close to what would resemble a fade.pretty sure he just did a 2 and then wanted to get rid of me. I didn’t want to push because at this point I wasn’t sure if he knew what a fade is or could actually preform one.

Overall I’ve spent over $150 on my last 3 cuts and was only mildly pleased with the second one. Getting charged these prices I would expect precision and care but it doesn’t seem like their barbers are on the same page. I’m really disappointed I paid for a fade kind of feel like I got taken to the cleaners, and this last cut was just nothing like I had asked for. Most frustrating part of this last cut is that I’m going to have to go somewhere else within a week or so and pay for another cut which I shouldn’t have to do.

Probably won’t be coming back, it’s a shame.

We actually took our little 3 year old here, and absolutely loved it! My husband is a regular here, so we thought why not try it out! Franco was literally amazing and very talented! He took the time to perfect my little dudes hair! We had gone to Great Clips the day before, and realized we needed something a little more! Highly recommend! Everyone was very nice!

Since I usually go to a low cost chain for a hair cut I didn't know what to expect at this place. I have to admit it was a great experience, my hair and beard look great and it was quick ~40 min. Hot towel and straight razor shave. Comes with a complimentary beer as well. Very pleased

I had another positive experience here. I got the classic and beard trim option. Franco did an amazing job! It had been 2 or 3 months since I had a haircut. After Franco had finished, I looked like quite the gent. I'm definitely coming back again and definitely seeing if I can get an appointment with Franco again.

$30 is a pretty steep price for a haircut already, and now they’ve started charging a 4% credit card fee on top of it. Definitely lost my business until they drop the credit card fee.

The place looks nice but they absolutely ruined my hair. I came in with a photo of the haircut I wanted and got the complete opposite. I was about to swing on the barber. Yusmanis Reconde has absolutely made me look terrible.
