Mojo Old City BBQ reviews
16 Tourists meeting local old friends to share a dinner.
We walked by this restaurant the previous day and the delicious smells made us sure to coerce our friends to meet us at Mojo LOL!
My family shared a 'whole hawg' platter. All the meats were outstanding. The sides we chose were also equally outstanding.
Our server was very attentive and an expert at her job.
We stayed for about two hours chatting and eating. The dining room was super loud when we got there, but a large party left halfway through and we could hear each other again.
Wonderful experience and I would recommend this restaurant to locals and tourists alike!
Now I love BBQ but was very disappointed in the whole experience. Host/hostess neither we’re very friendly. Waitress was very slow people who came in 10 min after us saw ther waiter before we saw our waitress. Mind you place was dead ant the time. Order their big platter the pork quesadilla and blacked catfish. Nothing and I mean nothing was hot, just a Luke warm. Quesadilla was bathing in grease
All around bad experience.
Quick, delicious, good service and great prices.
Got the whole hawg for my husband and myself, it was enough for lunch and dinner! Absolutely loved their chipotle BBQ sauce
As I sat here and enjoyed the chicken breast, I became overpowered by its succulent juicyness and began to choke on the chicken instead of choking the chicken. 5 out of 5 review for this restaurant.
Solid! Had the “the whole hawg” and chicken wings and boom boom shrimp. It was plenty of food for 4 people and we have leftovers for dinner! Definitely check it out - it deserves more hype!
Couldn't give this place higher praise if I tried. The pulled pork was off the chain and the sauces on the table were beyond top notch. Service was excellent, out server was attentive yet not overbearing so we could enjoy our meal. This was our first time here, but will definitely not be our last. Located just off of historic St. George Street in St. Augustine.
I ordered salmon salad - fried pickles
Both delicious! Wasn’t expecting salmon to be this good! Great job
Food was amazing. Several varieties of bbq sauce. A little of the beaten path, but well worth the trip
We had an okay visit here. Most of the food is perfectly mediocre.not bad.nothing great. We were off to a bad start immediately after being seated. We must have waited 10-15 minutes for a server to greet us. They apologized for the miscommunication on their end, so not that big of a deal.moved on with ordering and eating. The only good sauce they have is the sweet sauce. The pulled pork and spare ribs were quite good with the sweet sauce! Plain without sauce there wasn't much flavor, and the original sauce didn't have much flavor. My husband thought the wings with blue cheese were delicious. Sadly the burnt ends were TERRIBLE. I am blown away by all the reviews raving about how good the burnt ends are. Even our server recommended the burnt ends. Has no one actually had burnt ends before from a real bbq restaurant? ! This restaurant doesn't serve burnt ends. They serve cubes of dried out brisket. There is more to burnt ends than cubing up brisket. To properly make burnt ends according to anybody, one is to toss the cubes in bbq sauce and continue cooking/smoking to caramelize. This BBQ joint neglects that vital step. That is what makes burnt ends into burnt ends and not just dried out brisket chunks. The visit and the food isn't terrible, but we certainly will not be back.
Dude! I never order pulled pork anywhere, because I make the best pulled pork, lol. But these guys know what they are doing! Unbelievable. Seriously good food. The mustard based sauce was great, but the MOJO sauce was phenomenal! I will be recommending this to everyone!
I went here for the first time last weekend. My neighbor recommended this place to me. It was somewhat difficult to find parking, beimg that there's not a lot of parking spaces here. Also, there are a lot of tourists that vis St. Augustine every year. The atmosphere of this restaurant is regular and nothing fancy. The service here was very good, and the bathrooms were clean as well. I decided to order a brisket sandwich, which was very good. I'll definitely return here again in the future.
ALL HYPE
Food - the portion sizes for the money paid were very small. The brisket dry and the sausage tasted like they bought it and heated it up in the microwave. In addition, the kids menu states their meal comes with icecream (it is $7.99 for a kids meal) and they were completely out and fully expected us just to pay the full amount even though they weren’t going to provide the icecream our kids were already looking forward to. She stated that the icecream was “free” if they had it and since they didn’t they didn’t have to provide it. As you can see in the photo that is not AT All what it says.
Parking - there is no parking lot for the patrons. We parked in employee parking by mistake because their signs are on the side after you enter the lot and we noticed it after we were in the restaurant and I returned to the car to get medicine for my daughter. By that time we were blocked in by cars parked in the middle and not in the parking spaces.
Staff - I politely approached the staff and explained our mistake in parking and she replied that I was not supposed to park there (I acknowledged that from the beginning of the conversation). She told me they would not move their cars to let us out because we shouldn’t have parked there. I asked for a manager and she did say she would make a way for us to get out, but the lady that spoke unkindly was shaking her head and laughing at me as I was explaining the matter to the manager. Our waitress was very nice and provided good service. Later on the icecream deal the manager was unapologetic and unprofessional in the exchange.
I also spoke to the general manager and he was no better.
Ate here weekly, same order every week was stoked when they went on Uber eats but they messed up my order and when I called and spoke with Mike they wouldn’t make it right, suggested I call Uber rather than they make up for the mistake they made not Uber. Bad customer service on their end. There’s plenty of other great barbecue restaurants around to give your business to, go to one that values it.
Good service great barbecue absolutely loved the mashed potatoes and gravy and Mac and cheese as sides. Lots of food for the seemingly mid to high prices.
The food was amazing.
The burnt ends were very delicious as well as the fried pickles and the chicken nachos. Parking was a little odd but that is to be expected in town.
This is the best BBQ I’ve had in Florida! Their Mojo sauce is now my favorite BBQ sauce out there!
