Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens reviews
19 Hello,
I ordered a few things from the gift shop and Melissa went above and beyond checking on what I wanted and making sure the order was correct!
She was pleasant, professional and very helpful!
I appreciated her very much.
I visited the gardens the week before!
Please let her know I wrote as I told her I wanted to.
Thank you!
Sherry
It’s not what I expected at all. There are tons of free parks in my home state that are cooler than this. There is nothing special here and the aesthetic is lazy. I definitely won’t be buying a pass like I thought I would before I went.
Beautiful gardens and galleries. I would suggest arriving early as the crowds ruin the experience by behaving poorly.
Not really much of a “museum” there is a small art gallery with beautiful works. The garden was nice but mostly typical Florida landscaping with slight Japanese accents and select areas with different traditional Japanese gardens. Definitely a tranquil place and admission price was decent. Went on a Saturday morning and not many people definitely a nice little hidden place. *major alert* i have a horrible fear of spiders and there we’re definitely ALOT of spiders everywhere which probably made the experience less than ideal.
Excellent place to distress, walk, read, and learn. Museum, nature trails, gift shop, cafe, classes, exhibits, tea ceremony-Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is an oasis of calm in the sea of our everyday stresses. I could visit over and over. Magnificant and inspiring.
Nice place, however not what I was expecting. Needs more of a true Japanese feel. Bonsai gardens were lacking, koi were not true Japanese. All in all nice open space, but lacked the Japanese experience.
Beautiful place to explore! There's also cute restaurant with amazing view. They have a shop and theater to get to know Marukami and some history of it.
Highly recommended, especially if you can spend 2-3 hours touring the museum.the gardens are very pretty, but you can't really learn anything about bonzai or about Japanese-American culture outside. It's the stuff *inside*, at the main building and the area that recreates life in Japan (especially that), which makes this a sensational learning experience, particularly for kids on a summer day.
It's such a peaceful place. If I lived near buy I would definitely get yearly passes just to take walks. Also, get your camera ready.
Beautiful, peaceful, interesting. This museum and garden gives an overall great understanding of Japanese culture. The food at the cafe is well prepared and delicious. Definitely a great place to enjoy the afternoon!
Its really pretty, lots of trees. Waterfall.sadly a large portion of the park was closed off due to renovations, but it was to noice
Very great atmosphere to educate ourselves in the culture of our beloved country of Japan! We have to appreciate their creation of anime us
This is the most peaceful and relaxing place in South Florida where you can go and enjoy genuine Japanese food and culture. The gardens simply take your breath away and the Obon festival is the magnificent festival you can go too complete with floating lanterns and fantastic fireworks.
One good birthday visit. Beautiful scenery, very informative and fulfilling. We did half of the trail due to changes being made but it was worth it anyway. The Cornell Cafe for lunch was very cost effective and delicious. You can sit indoor or outdoor. Nature speaks to you here.
It was very beautiful, I with I could have had more time to take better pictures, there were so many!
Been coming here since 2008, always nice to walk around and relax enjoy life a little step by step, having a nice meal in the Cornell cafe, drinking some sake and enjoying the view as much I can, here I feel the nature and the wind. Love this place.
These gardens are magnificent. It was such a peaceful afternoon and so relaxing to meander through the lush settings of Morikami. Havimg lunch was the icing on a perfect day.
We arrived too late to enter park (they close pretty early so check times before you go) but what could have been a big disappointment for my little one wasnt because of the lovely young cashier at the desk. She took a few minutes to talk to us and have a conversation instead of just saying sorry were closed. My daughter walked away super happy, and we never even entered the park!
Nice museum type displays. Plants are nice but missing that wow factor. Cafateria was very good. Path can be confusing as old paths still appear. Need some signs pointing out the plants and features. This can be a long hot walk in the summer. They need some display that can spray water to cool you down.
