National Key Deer Refuge Nature Center reviews
16This is a great stop in big pine! Wonderful displays and history of the key's deer population. Very helpful and nice staff. Would've done the hikes l, but they scared me with all the poisonwood present. Be prepared with pants and long sleeves if you plan on hiking.
Incredible experience
Great weather and the staff treats guests like family.
Great time free diving 4 Lobster
A bit off of the beaten path but we saw so many cool things! A few Key deer, sharks, and many fish! Take the paths recommended by the guides and you'll see so many fun things!
Smallest full grown deer I've ever seen.seen 4 but only got a picture of one.also there was an old trail at the end of the road seems like it haven't been kept up with in a while so be careful if u go there.the blue pond was great n the other trail was great just didn't see any deer there
Great place but mask tyranny still abounds, guess they did not get the memo that pandemic has been over
This couple who were working on 9/8 were a wealthy of information to this species of deer and other animals native to the Keys. Just after we spoke with them, a r came right into the parking lot! BE CAREFUL not to speed because these deer are everywhere and you can see them along the road.
Very knowledgeable staff and very friendly. Gave some place to look for deer. We saw several in the middle of the morning.
Awesome place And the ranger was very knowledgeable The best part is when you get to see the deer on the side of the road We' seen 14 deer in about 20 minutes in the heat of the day
Beautiful trails. Unfortunately we have not seen deers or any other birds or animals on Watson and Mannillo trails. May be the weather was too hot that day. The Blue hole was not really a trail. Too short. The hole was not blue at all. More like greenish brown color.:) Lots of rules and regulations on every corner but not a single living creature.
The stuff on the information center was helpful.
WONDERFUL! We enjoyed stopping by here on our trip to Key West! Staff were friendly and knowledgeable! Exhibits nicely done. Bathrooms very clean and decorated with full color pictures of the wildlife in the area.
We hiked the Blue Hole and Watson trails. At Blue Hole we saw Ahingas, an alligator and a three foot long iguana!
We will definitely stop here again!
Very welcoming, knowledgeable volunteers who love what they do. Stopped in to get information on where we can locate some deer to see. Luckily we were able to drive around and locate a couple deer due to the time of day it was. DON’T FEED THE DEER!
Hours still wonky, nothing set, no real schedule. The volunteer that was here during my visit was helpful. She was set up on the porch since inside was still closed.
Website says open. Pulled up and they are closed. Sign up front says open Wednesday through Sunday. Update your websites hours
Helpful volunteer directed to good locations for spotting the tiny deer. The bldg is closed due to Covid but info sheets are available outside.
We were very disappointed that the refuge center was not open. In driving through the Big Pine Key we did see some of the deer.
We saw 3 deer and a gator and some turtle. Explored neighborhoods and enjoyed a little hiking and a different side Of the Florida keys. Still found some seashells on The trail.
