Midwives Sandy and Gelena are the absolute best. If your looking for a down to earth, organized, and supportive team, this is the place. From day one they answered all our questions honestly with an abundant amount of resources. All of my fear and anxiety was gone with their guidance. We were well educated and felt so prepared for D day. As a first time mom and dad, we appreciated the experience and felt safe beyond measure. I felt at home and they never made me feel like a bother. From prepping for D day, to breastfeeding help after D day, they were a text or phone call away at all times. Above and beyond is the service here. I can go on forever on how beautiful our experience was. I love NBW for helping us bring our son into this world with a ruptured placenta and all ️

Knowing we didn't want a hospital birth, it was concerning to do something not considered traditional. During the initial visit all of our fears and concerns were addressed. Great prenatal care! Exceptional postnatal care and lactation consulting! Gelena and Sandy made us feel welcomed and were an extension to our family. Highly recommend, you will be in great hands! Terrible experience two years ago I meet Sandra who no longer does home birth referred me to gelena bad idea. I lives for Sandra amazing women. Gelena a hot mess rude never answer over bill even always on the phone during visits. When she doesn’t provide service hard to get your money back if she does it’s never in full. I will never have anymore kids due to this experience after this I’m done. It is painful and depressing to have kids in America due to some people you meet. Full of life is a great maternity place to go it was amazing they are caring and nurturing. When I need a prescription they are there to cater to the need of the mother. I had so much luck in finding a new midwife. That’s the great part. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR CARE. UNLESS SANDRA IS THE MIDWIFE! All the bad reviews on here we pretty much had the same experience so I know this to be true because I was a victim of this same issue.

If I could give this birthing center HALF a star, I would! I had a TERRIBLE experience here. The very first meeting I had with Gelena, she kept reiterating she would transfer me if anything went wrong in my birthing process. It was almost as if she was anticipating it. She was very hard to reach, not reliable at all, and as a first time mother, she made me feel as though I was uneducated and she didn’t have time to teach me or answer any questions about my birth.

I regret not reading her reviews before I went to her. I read a review about a woman who thought she was having a miscarriage and Gelena failed to respond to her in time and when she actually did respond, the woman had already miscarried. To top it off, she REFUSED to reimburse the woman any of her money.

At 28 weeks pregnant I had a UTI which turned onto a kidney infection, I reached out to Gelena and she had an attitude and suggested I just take the vitamins she had suggested. I ended up in the hospital. After I got home from the hospital I had a melt down, I ended up seeking out a midwife at a different birthing center who was AMAZING. They contacted Gelena to get all of my paperwork sent over and she neglected to respond to them. They called, emailed, texted, and even faxed.it took her TWO WEEKS to send my paperwork. I paid her out of pocket until the Medicaid could kick in and then they would reimburse me. She never gave me any receipts for my cash payments, (Partially my fault for thinking everyone is so honest), and I ended up paying her $1,800 cash. I should have only paid $1,200. She owed me $600 so I asked for a reimbursement, she refused and then tried to tell me I still owed her money, but that she would just “let it go and call it even”.
My entire experience with her was terrible! I would NEVER recommend her or that birthing center to any one. Not even my worst enemy!

Small birth center with 2 midwives. Feels like family after a few visits. The midwives, Gelena and Sandy, give you information and options as well as resources to find your own information. I felt safe and supported while going thru the birthing process and during the recovery period.

I couldn’t speak more highly of NBW. From their warm, zen, welcoming facility to their exceptional care of their moms; this place is top of the line. I was treated like royalty. Every text, call or email answered so promptly. To the endless guidance & resources provided both Sandy and Gelena are passionate and gifted in their craft. There was no place I would rather be or rather birth than NBW. When I needed to vent, they were there. When I broke down crying, they gave me support. When I expressed fear, they instilled confidence in me. I was never a “patient” or a “number” of theirs, I was a MOM, a fellow woman who was going through a lot and most importantly I was a friend. Please do yourself, your partner and your future bundle of joy a favor and check these wonderful ladies out. You will not regret it.

Gelena and Sandy Lo are authentic and caring individuals who are passionate about birth. That passion carries through to everything they do.

They were both an instrumental part of my amazing birth team for the birth of my son. I had interviewed several midwives prior to my home birth and as soon as I met Gelena my soul knew I had found the right person.

Gelena was extremely thorough and always took her time with me at all my prenatal appointments and patiently answered all the questions I had being a first timer.

Sandy is an amazing Lactation Consultant and helped me navigate some early breastfeeding challenges and encouraged me to persevere.

They both provided stellar, continuous care for me before, during, and after my birth. They helped create a safe and sacred space for me and knowing I was in such good care allowed me to focus on my birth. Gelena and Sandy both were an integral part of allowing my dream birth become a reality.

One week ago today, I had accomplished what I almost thought I was incapable of.

Just when the contractions were getting longer and stronger, when I was begging for relief, I was beginning to believe my body couldn’t do it. I realized with every wave of pain, I was a step closer to meeting my sweet daughter. With every moving contraction, you must succumb to the rushing hot wave coursing through your body. You must buckle to your knees and with every moan and scream, take a moment of acceptance for this journey you have just awoken. The entrance to motherhood is a journey you must give in to, drop down with every ache and pain in your body, and with every brief moment of relief, breathe in and welcome a new beginning.

One week ago, we did it. One week ago began the most incredible journey of my life.

The team of midwives and doulas at Natural BirthWorks is truly spectacular. My pregnancy care was so unique. It felt wonderful to be completely listened to, have such one on one personalized care, and have so much knowledge fed to us to learn about our journey and what our bodies are capable of. I love that to Sandy and Gelena, we are not just another number in a waiting room, but a growing family. These woman are well educated and full of knowledge to pass on. On top of having great pregnancy care, when it came to birth, I couldn’t have asked for a more powerful and incredible team. When the plan changed, we were all ready, all prepared, all educated. I felt prepared for the moment, and when it came down to it, all the women were beyond supportive, active, encouraging, and completely there. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and I feel blessed my village started here. HIGHLY recommend Natural Birthworks and their team.

Not pleased. Useful when it some comes to info on medical alternatives but she is a hot mess when it comes to doing things on time like birth registration, mixes up numbers and units, and has no idea how insurance works. I always felt like I was on the back burner. Borderline scammer by saying sonograms and bloodwork are part of her fee but then tells you to pay for it through your insurance.

Natural birthworks is a unique place with special care. Here I feel fully accepted, safe and supported. With Gelena and Sandy I was able to plan birth I desired to have. Natural birthworks provides care that is supported by best research and evidence with a lot of love. I know for 100% I surrounded myself with highly professional birthworkers. Especially I appreciate their postpartum care which I find very important for women. They help me a lot in this transition. I am so happy both Midwifes shared with me this very special day in my life - birth of my baby girl. They became a part of our family life for forever.

Absolutely loved my experience with Natural Birthworks! Both midwives, Sandra and Gelena, were exceptionally well informed in addition to always being so nice and pleasant. I didn't get to have a natural birth with my first child, so I was really hoping to be able to this second time around. I was so grateful to be able to have my dream natural waterbirth and from the comfort and convenience of my own home. My midwife, Sandra, was so amazing at my birth, as was the doula, Martha. Everything went so smoothly and so very quickly. My son was born within just fifteen minutes of my water breaking and my pushing contractions starting. So thrilled and overjoyed to welcome our daughter into the world!
