Nine Mile Pond Trail reviews
13Difficult to kyack in the winter because it is shallow and the water is thick with cattail remains and in places the lake grass is very thick. Would be worthwhile if there was more wildlife and the canoe trail did not end so far from the launch point that one is not sure where to go to get back.
A great overlook to the lake, easy to spot gators surfing slowly from side to side. Parking lot is close by, easy access to the lake
Really awesome for kayaking and just have a leisurely time in nature! Be sure to look out for markers, or you'll get lost (like we did) hahahaha. We somehow cut through the mangroves and came out on the other side of the "loop" made around the pond. Our fault totally, but had a great time and saw a 5' gator, egrets, a good size Florida Gar, and lots of mangrove tunnels.
We went for a canoe trip by ourself and don’t see any wild life there except for some birds far away. It was hard to find some of the trail signs. From seeing others’s reviews, it sounds like attending a guided tour will be a much greater experience for the first time visitor.
This was a great Everglades experience! We were able to learn a lot about this unique ecosystem. Although strenuous in places, it was well worth the 3-hour trip. Our guide, Monique, despite this being her first guided tour at this location was exceptionally knowledgeable, interesting and patient. Take plenty of sun protection (lotion, hats, sunglasses, etc), bug spray, and water. Expect limited, if any, wildlife-we were really here to learn about the unique ecosystem and to get a modest amount of exercise! Highly recommend!
Amazing experience. Just be careful you don't miss any of the trail markers or you will definitely get lost forever. The trail is well marked though with hundreds of markers placed logically.
Renting a canoe from flamingo marina was super weird. They made us go out at a specific time even though we were the only ones doing the trail. We had to wait for the "1pm timeslot". Totally pointless burocracy from what I can tell, had to wait around for an hour for no reason.
Really nice trail but a lot of flies/mosquitoes during our visit. Ended up with a lot of bites

Really cool "trail" that takes you through dense reeds and mangroves. I have trail in quotes because it's a water trail for canoes and kayaks. Abundant wildlife and absolute peace and quiet. Just you and nature.
This is a great trail, but the poles are impossible to find after 65. I used to canoe the Nine Mile Pond 2x a year but haven’t gone in 3 years. Went back today and had to back track after pole 65/66. I never could find 67
Best day loop in the everglades. You can rent the canoe at the marina, but they are already at 9 mile pond so you will drive back from the marina and launch from 9 mile pond. Beautiful loop. Give yourself 5 hours for the full loop. Be careful and follow the markers. You should never be in a position where you don't see the marker ahead or the marker behind. If you are, then you are going the wrong way!
This was literally a pond. We didn't see anything but bunch of vultures hanging out. Just dead as it can be.
1st time in this part of The Everglades National Park. Nine mile pond looks like a good place to kayak or canoe. Easy access to the water.
Great trail, I recommend going counter clockwise through the trail - I did not and struggled to find the poles.
Due to low water I wasn't able to complete the trek, but I did make it ~1/3 through. It was a gorgeous trail. Saw lots of fish, birds and gators.
