Great place for family walks. There was a great cabin with amazing resources that give a great introduction to the wildlife that abounds in FL.

This is a terrific nature preserve. While smaller than others, it has quite a bit of diversity. There's a boardwalk thru a mostly wetlands environment, ending at a large covered dock on Lake Apopka. On the opposite side are trails that run thru more like hardwood forests and some that are more open and sunny. Dragonflies, butterflies and birds abound. In the middle of it all is a nice building with exhibits and clean restrooms, with a butterfly garden out front. This place gives you a good chance to see a threatened species here in Florida: the gopher tortoise. There are a number of burrows just right around the main building. Highly recommend a visit.

A great place for a quiet walk surrounded by beautiful nature. The trail is surrounded by water and wildlife. There is a small museum where you will always be welcome!

Great boardwalk. Nice trail. A cool little Museum at the entrance too with some books and fish/amphibian tanks. The sink hole is underwhelming, but hey the lake views make up for it.

I love going on adventures at nature reserves. Oakland is one of my first to go to and I absolutely love this spot! There’s an abundance of flora and fauna. I recommend bringing a good amount of water and a camera. Enjoy the nature and the gorgeous weather. Definitely spacious and lots to walk through. Stop on here for your next hike.

I love this space. It is well taken care of, beautiful and has volunteer opportunities. Even if you are a hour out, I highly recommend this space.

Be advised, the ONP Board who administer the preserve will force their politics on you in their museum and indoor spaces as devout Branch Covidians.

They reject modern science and require all guests show their subservience to the Gods by covering their faces with a veil when entering the museum.

Enjoy the exterior if you do not wish to bow to Greek idols.

The oracles have spoken.

Come back next week for bloodletting sessions!

We love the Oakland Nature Preserve! The pumpkin trail is a new fun tradition for our family? The kids carve/decorate their pumpkins and then we get to take a nice walk through the woods to see them all. So many creative pumpkins

Great place to watch a sunset, walk, run, birdwatch, see a gator in its natural habitat, try not to step on a snake, watch a gopher tortoise nibble some greens, learn about Florida Native plants and animals, picnic, take a long stroll on a gorgeous new boardwalk, and even jump on the West Orange Trail if you desire.
The staff and volunteers at this preserve have been dedicated to creating something really special here.
Restrooms available.
NO DOGS ALLOWED!

We are staying in the Orlando area for a week while on a work trip/vacation. This is a must stop spot. For free you get to experience some central Florida’s amazing flora and fauna. We saw tons of insect life as well as alligators, pig frogs, turtles, and gar fish.

Nice little boardwalk trek. I've seen many little gators, some armadillos, a racoon, several variety of birds, and only a few thousand lizards. You'll usually catch a gopher tortoise or two wandering around as well.
