Old Heidelberg Restaurant reviews
19It's an institution in ft lauderdale for German cuisine. They do it well, have a vast and varied menu and great ambiance. The service can take a bit these days due to staffing but its still worth thevwait
We passed by this restaurant on our way to the hotel and decided to give it a try.
There food is amazing, very authentic German food, I had the Gulasch soup and it was perfect, my husband had wiener schnitzel and ît was very good as well.
We are both German and therefore very sceptical since we already tried a few German restaurants before and weren't impressed with the food.
I didn't give it 5 stars because it wasn't very clean, lots of dust everywhere.
Established place with home style charm. Beers are straight from Germany and come in large glasses. Food is very traditional German cuisine.
I am not German, but this place screams authentic. The beer was great, potato pancakes were delicious, and the schnitzel was so good! I had the meat plate, and it was nice as well. Definitely stop by! The live music was good and the staff were friendly.
This place is a land mark its food is not that great I was not happy about having to pay a sharing cost also I got food poisoning from there potatoes, Only busy on Christmas eve October fest is boring there. I WOULD RATHER GO TO THE DELI NEXT TO IT get some cold cuts bread walk to grave yard eat in have some spirit
One of my favorite places to go in South Florida. Used to drive from West Palm Beach to just have dinner here as it's the most authentic German food I know of in the state.
You can’t beat the service and atmosphere at Old Heidelberg. Old school and dependable, it’s a happy relic from days when we accepted such stereotyped cultural representations as a window into something different and something the German culture loved about itself. In the 21st century, this place is both a comfort and a dinosaur. We had a creamed herring appetizer, weiner schnitzel and the Oktoberfest plate. All were fine, nothing amazing, but certainly fine. Prices are fair. Service is friendly. Atmosphere is nostalgic.
Amazing German restaurant. Food is delicious and beer is tasty. Highly recommend that you check this place out.
This was a very authentic German restaurant with a decor filled tchotchkes and German music playing in the background. I had the smoked sausage, the food was delicious and at a great price point. I say definitely check it out, you won't be disappointed.
Great variety of German food made from scratch. Fantastic service with very friendly people. The decor really makes you believe you're in Old World Germany. This is our favorite restaurant!
Great experience and ambiance. Excellent food, lamb shank was perfect. Only the black Forest cake was not like a real black Forest cake should be.
Absolutely delicious authentic German food! Service was awesome and expedite considering it was Thanksgiving day! The ambiance as always FANTASTIC and familiar. I had Zigeuner Goulash! Absolutely delicious! The beer was cold and strong. A very much fantastic experience at Old Heidelberg! Thank you for making Thanksgiving very nice for me!
Off the beaten path, but by far worth the experience. Best German restaurant & bar in Ft. Lauderdale! Maximum quaintness
Everything was delicious and satisfying. Not a budget meal though. With appetizers and desserts and 1 drink was $50 each. Jaeger schnitzel was large, well sauced. Appetizers not good value but delicious. We tried 4 different desserts each was great.
This place is amazing.the people are too kind. I had the Saurbraten (on a weekday if that matters), it was made perfectly.look up the recipe to understand.clean place, external looks are entirely misleading.interior is super fun, lots of stuff to look at. Have the Kierschwasser and all the bieren you can handle.they are all good imo. The owner seems like a good guy and obviously puts a lot into making the food there.
This place is very cool, they have 2 liter boot beers just like they do in certain places in Germany. We came with a party of 8 around 8: 30 and they sat us right away (we did have a reservation) for Octoberfest. At around 9: 30 they didnt want to serve us any more beer, have no clue why not and then proceeded to sort of rush us out of there. I love this place because theres nothing around like it but every time I come here I think the sevice is sincerely lacking in friendliness and effort. The website says they close at 11pm not 10 theres no reason to rush people when you book the reservation for 8: 30 and no one receives there food until 9: 45. Oh yea and for anyone wondering how much a 2 liter beer will run you here, its $36.
Delicious German food, the service is adorable (I love our waitress, Sasha, she’s so sweet and helpful)
Amazing German food. Probably the best jaeger schnitzel I have ever had. I moved to California from the East Coast 2 years ago and of course they have amazing Asian and Latin foods, but the German and Italian sucks. So I really appreciate the quality they brought to the table here. Really hit the spot.
Decided to visit for Oktoberfest. The roast pork shank is amazing. But warning, 2-3 people can eat from it (unless you want to go at it alone and take the rest home for another day). Amazing service. Fresh beer, great atmosphere. Will be returning soon.
