Papa’s Pilar Rum Distillery, Hemingway Rum Company, Key West FL

If you love rum you gotta get in here! Our guide Mo was very knowledgeable and super duper fun! This place is lucky to have such a great and fun staff! Been wanting to come here for years and I'm so glad I made it!

My partner LOVES Pilar. He was in Heaven. Indiana was enthusiastic, fun, and knowledgeable. Gandalf and Mo helped with selections. And Jack-Jack and Luna (see I got into the nickname thing and named your bartenders) were wonderful.

We were fortunate to have Mo, a very smart and funny tour guide, who was full of interesting and unique facts about Hemingway and the rum industry.

Okay this place rocks, best rum old fashioned on the island, make sure you get the sherry casked one. Staff here is incredible, Keith c p o. Great bartender, music is killer, that blue haired girl was awesome. This is a don't miss spot for key west. Get a daiquiri, not the frozen ones, a real one. Amazing. Even if they are busy, the staff is friendly and professional. It's definitely worth the wait. Walk around and check out the gift store, buy a bottle. Who doesn't want a bottle of rum to take home.

I'm not a Rum guy, but you know what they say when in Key West lol. Arguably the best Rum I've had. They have free Rum tastings. Guided tours. No Earnest Hemingway did not start the company. But I believe his family is invested in the company, hence why they have Earnest Hemingway on all of their stationery. And of course I'm sure he drank Rum as well lol. The Rum itself is very affordable. From $40- $60 a 5th. They even have 2 packs that you can mix and math, different types of rum.
If I find myself in Key West again I would definitely pay them a visit.

Really enjoyed our tour here, wasn't really sure what to expect but Dr taste all three of them rums they had to offer and let me tell you, all three were amazing, probably the smoothest rum I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. It's hard to pick which one was my favorite but I guess I need to get a bottle of each now. I only wish that I had gotten more pictures. I did have a tasty old fashioned, which was delicious and I think it was the Sherry rum. I recommend this tour without a doubt!

We did the tour and tasting it was overall a great experience. I enjoyed the educational aspect of the tour aw well as the delicious rum!

The distillery tour consisted of a very brief of Hemingway and an overview of the rum distilling process. There was a tasting of 4 types of rum. If you take the tour, you get $5 off a bottle in the store. The store had a great selection of logo merchandise, including clothing, accessories, stickers and of course, rum. It is also pet friendly. Staff was very nice.

Great tour and product, had a little hiccup towards the end of the tour, staff handled and performed perfectly.

Our tour guide was Indiana and she did an amazing job. She was very informative and explained the entire process of Rum making. The bonus was getting to sample the different types of Rum at the end. Great way to spend an hour.

What a fun time. 3-P-O and Indiana were our distillery guides as we did the mixology class ($65 each). It was a blast. We learned about rum and mixed a fun drink. We then took that drink for a walk around and learned some fun history.we then went back to the bar, learned about a different rum, mixed a different type of drink and then took that for a walk as we toured a different area in their facility.they were informative, fun, interactive, and made for a good time. Thanks Keith and Nicki.)

Went to Key west for a day trip and stopped by the distillery on a whim.
It was a great rundown of the history of the facility and Ernest Hemingway's contribution to the area and the brand.
The Papas Pilar blonde rum is my favorite of the 3 they bottle there.
Funny story, I wanted to buy some there on the site but didn't want to carry it around for the rest of the day. Planned to return before it closed but we ended up waiting for the sunset at the beach. We were so excited to see it too and while I was kind of bummed about missing out on the rum, I was happy to be at the beach with my wife and daughters. Here it is, the sun is dropping into the horizon, the anticipation to see the edge of the world illuminated by the setting sun was killing us all.
There was probably about 2 minutes until the sun touched down and, wait for it, clouds set in. Not a word was said, we packed up, left to head back to our key and totally missed the distillery closing.
Long story short, my neighbor just got back from the keys, and my wife had asked them to grab a gift box from the distillery. They got back today and I am stoked!
I have the best wife and neighbors, and now also 2 bottles of the best rum.
P.s. They close at 5 so don't miss out.

Honestly hands down the best Company i’ve dealt with. VP Nick gave us a bottle out on the boat one day (was amazing) Called the distillery to find out what it was mixed with 10/10 Customer service. Christina and Nick were both amazing! Can’t wait to buy another bottle and make a reef runner!

This place was amazing! I have never been a rum drinker but we stopped by on vacation and absolutely had to give it a try. They allow you to taste their 2 signature rums, and they offer a variety of excellent mixed cocktails. Hurricane did an excellent job getting us comfortable and you cannot go to Key West without stopping here.

We had a fun time here tasting the various rums and learning about the distillery. Highly recommended.

We attended the tour of their small Key West based craft distillery. Mo was our tour guide and has to be one of the best tour guides we have ever experienced. He was not only knowledgeable about the distillery, but also extremely entertaining and witty. Even though I do not drink, my group decided they wanted to go. We had an absolute blast. Highly recommend.

Drinks were great. Priced a little high but on par with Key West prices. Bartender wasn’t the most friendly and had an attitude when we asked questions and ordered. Would go back for drinks again IF the bartender was different.
