Performance Sales and Service Inc / McKibben Boating Center of Lake Placid

Took my boat in for minor service in June of 22. Trolling motor spot lock wasn't working correctly, bilge wasn't coming on auto.had to turn off and back on to work and couple more small items. They called said I needed 2 batteries low voltage was causing issues with trolling motor not operating correctly. It has 4 batteries so I told them to replace all of them. Said bilge float was blocked cleared blockage and was working. Took the boat out for 2 days straight in early July trolling motor worked great used it about 3 hours total for 2 days, bilge was still not coming on in auto mode. Boat set for 5 months until 2 weeks ago charged batteries overnight with onboard charger. Next day went out and trolling motor wouldn't come on. I own a automotive repair shop down south so I took to my lead tech to look at. He found positive cable on 1 battery not even hand tight positive cable on trolling motor relay not even hand tight and ground cable from battery to charger off and laying in the floor.and 3 fuses from 3 batteries to charger missing completely. My tech tighten and check all terminals, replace ground wire to charger and put in the missing 3 fuses now batteries are charging. All this and I paid 1200.00 for the work Performance marine done in June. Never again with these guys. I will pull the boat 100 miles to my shop from now own. It is so hard to find a good and reasonable marine service in this area. Was forced to check at least 1 star to submit this. If able I would have given 0 stars.

Dropped my boat off for a trailer re-wire and new lights, picked it up with no trailer lights, some of the lights completely disconnected, wires running on the outside of the trailer, a bad bilge switch and a dead battery (2 year old boat with no prior issues). Manager not interested in making anything right. Absolute worst service I've ever had anywhere. Don't know if it's because I'm a woman or if they treat everyone this way, but my advice is keep your boat far away from this place.

We took a boat thereto be repaired it took awhile when we went to pick up the boat the repair was free. Cause we had to wait. Thanks to them

I moved to Lake Placid Florida from South Florida about a year ago and recently needed to have my boat motor repaired so I went to Lake Placid Marine close to my house because I had gone there before to purchase some odds and ends and I noticed the lady that runs the place was kind of rude but I shrugged it off because I'm from Boston so I'm used to people in the south that tend to be a bit negative to me. But my when wife who is from the south told me she treated her and her dad the same way. When I went there to ask her about my motor repair and all she wanted to do was sell me a battery before she would even check my boat motor. And she was rude about it. So I called Performance Sales and Service the guy on the phone was polite and respectful he told me they were about a week behind in repairs but when I explained my problem the same way I did at Lake Placid Marine he told me it sounded like something simple that might be a quick easy fix. He couldn't promise me anything and he couldn't put ahead of anyone else but between jobs he would check for out for me. Two days later the motor was fixed at a reasonable price. These guys were awesome I would recommend them to anyone. I will definitely use them in the future for any of my fishing needs. The guy that works there is a fun person to talk to and gave me great advice on how to catch bass in this area which is very different from South Florida. With his information I am catching more bass than ever. They are so friendly there you can actually hang out at their tackle shop and talk about fishing I love this place.

They are doing an amazing job on our boat and keeping us informed as to what they are doing and asking permission to continue so we know what the price is!

I’ll say everyone was nice and professional, good staff! My issue was I brought my boat for some rewiring of the dash gauges and to check some wiring on the motor. Had the “work” done and brought it back home and some of the wires were not even connected to the switch panel! I had to go in and fix the problem that I went to go get fixed in the first place. They took out the fuse panel which I never authorized nor understood why they would do that, and hard wired everything to the switch panel. Overall I’m not impressed with the work done, I could have done the work myself had I known they were going to go the easy route. I’m sure they do great work on maintenance and engine repair but wiring is one of those things you have to be extra detailed and careful about.

James treated us like we were his only customers and the purchase of our new Bentley pontoon was smooth and pleasant. We are very happy customers.

Have stored my boat and purchased parts as well. They are great people to work with, always will to help.

Staff was very helpful and got our boat lake ready! As a result, we had a successful launch and cruise around Lake June!

I have waited over a month to write this review because the one thing that
irks me the most is a salesperson that turns out to be phony. They smile BIG
after the sale, Shake your hand and then when you call they put you on ignore instead of hold and have only a vague memory of selling you a boat.
BUT THESE GUYS AT PERFORMANCE MARINE ARE THE REAL DEAL!
James and Ron and Scott and Jeff STILL treat me like a fishing buddy and seem happy to see me. The guys in the back working on boats are great as well. The greatest thing about my purchase is NO REMORSE!

Called for info for my pontoon boat and engine. Ron answer my call and explains every thing that I ask and gave tips to make my boat better. The BEST help I ever got from any dealer. I will give them first shot at buy I do.

I'm not really done doing business here yet, so far everybody seems very polite and helpful, of course the future will tell everything but it really seems like I don't need to look any further than this place for any of my boating needs oh, I am saving room for updates though

Staff is very helpful and they ordered the supplies I needed to keep my on the water and fishing.

This place has the BEST people working there! They are so helpful and friendly and go to great lengths to help the customer. On another note, one of the things that I appreciated the most is that they were straight with me. I may not have liked what I heard, but I would rather be told the truth. I had another boat dealer in the area who promised me something then couldn't deliver. Performance Marine won't waste your time, but they will make the effort to give you a clear answer and THEY GET THE JOB DONE!

I had a new Ranger boat with less than three hours on the engine. The new 150 HP Mercury just locked up. My Ohio dealer contacted Performance who said they could look at it a couple of days. I took the boat in on Thursday got a call on Monday the motor was bad and Mercury was sending them a new one. II picked up my boat the following Saturday. Unbelievable.
Ron the service manager was wonderful in keeping me up to date on the job and called me with answers when he said he would. I never felt like he was too busy to answer my questions.
I would highly recommend Performance for your marine service! I’m totally satisfied!
