This is the worst Pinch a Penny. My pool light has not worked in a month, after it was re-wired without my permission by Pinch a Penny. What should have been $110 pool light ended up being $346 pool light and a $421 transformer which was damaged in their process. If Pinch a Penny had called me before re-wiring my electric panel, I could have saved $200 on the light and the subsequent bill of $421 to replace my transformer. To top it off, I had to wait a month for Neil, the owner, to get back out to my house to correct the mess which he was responsible for because he did not call me before re-wiring my pool’s electrical panel. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE! You will regret it.

It seems that every location is super helpful and great service. We stopped by this location on our way home and thought Bob was especially kind. We’re new to owning a pool and he was helpful in answering our novice questions.

Wonderful neighborhood pool store. Tom and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The place has a high volume of customers, and yet the shelves are always well stocked and they're never short-handed. They also have a fleet of trucks for local service calls.

We bought a Polaris ATLAS XT pool sweep at this location. I needed a bit of help regarding the settings on the variable speed pump for the sweep to work best. By phone, Brett was able to coach me on the settings and the pool looks great! Thanks so much!

If you are looking for a pool service cleaning, PINCH A PENNY IS NOT IT. They scheduled 4 separates days to come and look at the pool, and they never came. Every time i called they were not helpful at all and just gave me a new date that they didnt come.

"Friend guys pool service" is what i ended up scheduling and they did come on time. I will see how they are but they are 1000 times friendlier and more professional so far.

2 1/2 years after purchase, still under warranty, bearings failed on the pump. They looked at it and said is was because a seal failed, allowing salt water and chemicals on the bearings. They went through a litany of reasons the manufacturer could claim why it happened, and also acknowledged that the seal could simply have failed. Bottom line is they claim the manufacturer would not honer the warranty, and that there was nothing they could do. It’s a closed unit. I bought it from Pinch a Penny with a warranty that they claim is not their decision to honor. I would have no way of knowing something was wrong until the bearings failed and I would assume a warranty on a closed unit would be honored for an internal failure. Bottom line is I’m paying 800 dollars for various parts to repair it. I have spent many thousand of dollars at that store and will now find someone else.

I’d like to further comment on the owners reply. They told me I had a leak in the pump because the seal failed, a component of the motor. They said there would have been an occasional drop of water from the bottom of the pump which is only 2 inches above the ground. I never saw any drops of water, and most days there is dew or rain water on the pump. The reason for the drops of water is the seal failed. In other words a part of the pump failed. They said because the seal failed the pool water got on the bearings. They implied that if I had noticed the leak they could have fixed the seal before the bearings failed. I wouldn’t have noticed the drops of water 2 inches above the ground unless I was told to look for it. If Pinch a Penny adds 2 years to the one year warranty, then it was not a matter of the manufacturer not honoring the warranty, it was a Pinch a Penny decision not to honor it, even though it failed internally.

So today the attendant "forgot" to refill my chlorine jugs until i finished testing my water, purchased a leaf rake mesh and paid for it all to miraculously remember to refill my jugs. Is there a policy change? Or is up to the attendant to decide which customer's jugs he "forgets" to refill until after the customer pays? Would really like to know.

The staff will sell you the wrong part and not take any accountability. Don’t waste your time here. They don’t know how to properly diagnose issues and recommend the correct part. Once you figure it out on your own, no concession is made to correct the issue

I have had several instances at this location. Understaffed at times.
I have heard of bad things about this particular store.
Needless to say it is a store that needs to be reviewed again to change the words from the other Franchises.
I have been going there for over 25 plus years. Monica went above and beyond one day for me; she is spot on. Mr. Gomez is spot on!
Over all, the store has progressively gone up with a lot of the prices (certain items.)
The store manager, Derrick is spot on too.
One of the owners is so polite (Lettie) too.

3-28-22: Pinch-a-Penny on Bearss cleans our pool weekly. We are sooo happy with the service and it is so cost effective! Our Pool Cleaner CHRIS does an AWESOME job! He is very thorough and efficient! He takes great pride in his work! Our POOL sparkles after he is done each week! We could never do such a great job! Thank you Chris!

I have to tell you about getting my pool fixed by to outstanding folks from this Pinch A Penny, Trey and Ulie did a great job and gave me a tone of info to help me with our pool! But in the store a big thank you to great service and help from Brett, Anthony and Owner who is responsible for theses great people at his store-Best Pinch A Penny with in greater Tampa-check them out first!

Purchase a motor went out in 13 months and this location won’t repair or even stop by in case it was something simple. I have been a customer since 2003 and you just lost me! Life is not only about money is reputation and integrity

I bought a house in carrollwood with a green pool. Before I hired pinch a penny. Chris at the pinch a penny carrollwood store came over on his lunch break for free! He told me not to worry and explained all the pool equipment that I had. I hired them and in less than a month. My pool went from shamrock green and can’t see the bottom. To absolutely crystal clear! I could not be happier! A+ rating for these guys!

They have excellent products but their service is what sets them apart. Everyone there has great knowledge about how to maintain my pool.

That is especially true of Trey. He has more knowledge about pool equipment and chemicals than anyone I have ever seen.

I highly recommend this store and their services.

Great service! We purchased a pool vacuum and pool shock from very knowledgeable staff. We were in and out quickly, with everything we needed to get our pool tidy, clear, and sparkling clean. Thank you!

Good guys giving good service! Btw I live in Lutz and I always come back to the store in Bears av just because customer service, The store SR 54 and the one by US 41 have not the same customer service.

Tom and his crew will treat you right. Very few places have the level of customer service they do in today's world.

I was Impressed I wish I would have gotten first names but everyone in that store was great. Very knowledgeable team.
