HORRIBLE SERVICE
JOE owner renovated my grandmothers pool and floor patio. The Tavernites are lifting up after 6 months of installing these tiles.
He does not answer his phone or respond text messaging.

I really hope nobody does any job with this company.

Will let corporate know about this unacceptable services.

A few months back my wife went there to purchase a pool filter. The manager of the store recommended she buy the expensive high micron filter. Every since the filter was put in the pool vacuum bearly worked then quit altogether. My wife purchased new vacuum $600. It did not work either, then the pump burned up. After much distress I found that this was not the right filter. We put the old filter back in and wow everything back to normal. She tried to return the filter and they would not take it back and this guy was very rude and condescending. She went to another Pinch A Penny location and they had the right filter treated her like a valued customer should. Beware of doing business at this location.
So she is out about $900 dollars because of the managers incompetence.

I had a pool heater installed well over a month ago. It is not synched up to run automatically with the pump schedule. I would have to manual turn on and off currently. I have called the office 4 times to get help. Called Joe (the owner) on his cell and he said he would come out two weeks ago and he never showed up. Called and left messages 3 times without a call back. I have a $4K paperweight outside doing nothing!

Hey! Pinch-a-Penny
You need to change your website business hours this isn't the first time I got there at 3: 50 PM on a Sunday and you were closed already.

I have lost all faith in this store. I have dealt with arrogance and belittling comment's from one particular employee. The owners daughter is a great asset to the store. I recently called the owner and left a message as I wanted to replace my pump and filter. My call was never returned so I did the logical thing and went elsewhere. They lost the sale, the install and a weekly maintenance customer.

Disappointed to write this review, but others need to know. Our general contractor hired Pinch A Penny (Joe Trageser, Indiantown Road) for a complete renovation of our pool including a conversion to salt water and installation of an auto fill. Initially, we were pleased with the quality of the work but then became disappointed when a few issues surfaced and Joe’s lack of follow-up; he never returned calls/texts from our contractor or us. We became concerned when our skimmers did not appear to be working and called Red Rhino (great company) to investigate the situation. They identified the issues – one skimmer line was never connected to the pump, the other skimmer line was cracked and the vacuum line was also never connected. Their conclusion was that the lines were never tested because these issues would have been identified if the testing had been done. At our request, Joe came over and looked at the situation Red Rhino discovered; he agreed the work was not done correctly and committed to pay our cost for Red Rhino to do the repair. Subsequently, he changed his mind and wanted to have his team do the repair (the same team that didn’t complete the work correctly). We said “no” and had Red Rhino do the repair. He then reneged on his commitment and did not pay for the repair cost – very disappointed. Would not recommend them to others.

Rude, very unfriendly owner. Not going back.ever! Joe submitted an estimate for pool resurface nearly twice as much as a true pool company. Always trying to sell you chemicals you don't need. Plenty of great pool supply stores around Jupiter. Dropping of my chlorine bottles at the door, you can have them!

We bought the house and they were the ones that had worked with the previous owners. Joe came out and did the Pool School and explained all of the equipment, functions and programs.
We hired them for weekly service and Pete is going a good job.
When I had additional questions, Joe came out personally and handled all of the requirements.
Happy with their response and appreciate the good service!

Place is great! I have been using this place to help me keep my pool perfect. They can give you great advice. And if you need major repairs, they have the people to get it fixed. Just inquire.

Really bad service all around. I have spent thousands of dollars at Pinch a penny in Jupiter. New salt water system, two new tiger shark pool sweepers and countless amounts of chemicals and supplies. Over the years I have ignored Paul's rude comments and blaming me for buying a $1k tiger shark. He said I should have not bought a tiger shark and he doesn't recommend it, yet they sell it in the store and I bought two of them from him.
I most recently added their service to clean my pool and it actually got worse than when I did it. They never showed up on scheduled days and then never returned my calls or emails. Then they said it was my salt water system but for two weeks never came out to fix it.
Do not deal with pinch a penny unless you want to be extremely frustrated. It seems they are too busy and complacent to care about any single customer.

This was my go to pool supply place for many years, but something has changed. The last 2 pool pump motors that I've purchased here have each failed before 2 years. In both cases, there was no water intrusion inside the motor. When I purchased the motors I purchased new seals and had the staff here install the seals to cover myself from that perspective. Also, I had added a vented motor cover as suggested by the store when I replaced the last motor.

When I went to the store with the latest failed motor (and receipts for the motor and the seal), the manager told me their motors were only warrantied for 12 months. He was getting ready to sell me a new motor at $200+. I asked him if he could offer any kind of discount given the circumstances and he said no. Now that's some great customer service for a long time customer. Granted, by the letter of the law (i.e. 12 month mfg warranty), they can take this approach, but wouldn't it be smarter to take better care of a loyal customer?

I checked on Amazon, and I can order the exact same motor for $50 cheaper and have it next day. So, between online options and the other local stores within one mile (Leslies and East Coast), I will be taking my business elsewhere. It's a shame some businesses don't see the bigger picture.
