6A fantastic place for a short circle walk, one more exposure to the natural beauty of the Everglades. At times the landscape is reminiscent of the Jurassic era. The only thing missing are the dinosaurs!
In the winter, when we went, there wasn't any mosquitos or bugs. It was a bit colder than usual too (around 50F), and the snails were all on the ground keeping warm in their shells.
Trail is paved and easy. It's an interpretive trail, so there are a number of facts along the trail.
I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings who like the Everglades, but IMHO it's just a big, hot, moist swamp, where the mosquitoes eat you alive. Compared to some NPs on the West, around the Rockies - like Yosemitee with the waterfalls - it's not even a contest. There's not much to see here. YMMV.
It's a very nice and shorty trail with a great deal of information signs around it. Great for a quick stroll.
Easy walk with a toddler, plenty of parking, cool Interp. Video version is up on my channel on YouTube.
Glad it wasn't flooded this time. Some overgrown areas, saw a few tree snails.
