Pu Thai Restaurant reviews
16Delicious! Everything is made from scratch, right down to the ketchup! Ms. Pu and Patrick put their heart into their menu items. It was our first time there as we are new to the area- will def be back. Abby was very friendly. Restaurant is clean. The only negative is the lighting- blue lights inside make it difficult to see your food and read the orange menu.
I ordered Duck Padtai $25.00 a plate and a Honeydew bubble tea. The waitress was very informative since this was my first experience with Thai food and also my first experience trying duck. I’ve never had duck before, but I felt like it was a little too dry. Maybe deck is supposed to be dry? The atmosphere is calm and quiet. Peaceful.
Resturant was clean. Food was decent, edible, but definitely lacking flavor. Waitress was very friendly but misinformed what was in a dish. I dislike restaurants that pass on credit card fees to consumers especially when you charge more than the average Thai restaurant to begin with. I spent $76 at your place then you're petty enough to tack on CC service fee. No thank you. I'll find a more appetizing Thai restaurant, that appreciates my business fully.
We lived in Malaysia for 4 years and traveled to Thailand a dozen times… so of course we have eaten a ton of Thai/Asian food. We love this place. Amazing food, people and relaxing atmosphere.
Formerly Phensri Thai, this neighborhood Thai restaurant was my favorite place around for authentic quality Thai food. It was recently taken over, and the name changed to Pu Thai. I was a little hesitant to try eating there after the takeover, since the menu changed to include all sorts of other Asian food. In my experience, this usually means that they do many things in a mediocre manner, instead of focusing on one style and doing it well. Unfortunately, this is the case with Pu Thai. I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai and asked for it spicy, which is my go-to favorite. However, the dish was in no way spicy, rather it was very salty and bland, and the noodles extremely mushy and overcooked. The spring rolls were soggy, greasy, and tasteless - I would wager they came from frozen premade stock. Perhaps I will try them once more, maybe the cook had a bad day, but I was definitely disappointed that the old restaurant was no more. I feel that they would be better off sticking to one style and doing it well, rather than try to do every kind of Asian food and lacking the flavor it's known for, especially since there's both a Chinese and a Japanese restaurant two doors down that do execute their dishes well.
Such a great find! Everything we've had here has been delicious. Some of the best sushi we've had also (devoured it before I could get pics). This is family owned and operated and everything is fresh and full of flavor.
I never write reviews but this was best service i've had in a while.the red head is the absolute sweetest as was the manager.they were very attentive despite having multiple people coming in at once.very friendly atmosphere.the gyozas and the pho were soooo good.
Service is great. The crispy rice is very tasty. The curry is yummy! The atmosphere is serene.
Variety of entrées & lunch specials. Adequate Wine selection, prices are comparative, enjoyed this establishment. Will revist.
I really don't know why I've even seen bad surveys on this place. This place is phenomenal snd authentic. I've been to Thailand while in USMC back in early 90s. This place was like walking back in time. On point. Really good. Highly recommend this place.
UPDATE: I've been coming here for the last year and it's better every time. The crispy duck curry (red is my favorite) is my comfort food. The shrimp are cooked perfectly. Every dish I've had has been delicious and crave worthy.
Changed owners July 1st, and they are improving the space as well as the hours. Best Thai donuts around! Good portions, wonderful food, friendly service. Everything was delicious- we tried the pho, green and red curries, and the pad thai. They have a kids menu as well with chicken or shrimp tempura.
What a horrible experience!
We came to this restaurant because of the reviews. We ordered a Tom yum soup, which was fine and the fried tofu as well. The main dishes (CLASSIC THAI FOOD) : pad Thai and tasted terrible, very small chopped noodles. Disgusting! My husband had the pad kee mao and it tasted like vanilla flavored flower. Both with beef meat, it was like stale meat (weird) flavor. We were looking for that fresh and explosive Thai flavor and we didn’t have it. Try another Thai place!
The food looked appetizing, real eye catcher but I have had Thai food in NY, VA and DC, I was really excited to try this place based on reviews but it was very disappointing.
Excellent dinner. I had the chicken red curry and my wife had the shrimp pad Thai; best Thai food! We will be going back again.
I have been in many times and each time it has been better than the last. All the food is amazing. The waitstaff are excellent. The interior is beautifully decorated and the music is peaceful.
I just ate lunch here just now. I had the Pad Thai with chicken. It was steaming hot and as delicious as any I have ever eaten. I have tried a lot of different Thai restaurants over the years, and they all are fairly delicious, but Pad Thai is not an easy recipe to get perfect. But the Pad Thai I just had here was absolutely perfect. I can't think of any way it could have been any tastier. I haven't tried their other stuff, so I can't comment on anything else. But if their Pad Thai is so outstanding, then I imagine the other stuff must be excellent too. Also the tables and chairs and floor and everything around you there is so outstandingly clean. Simple yet very clean and comfortable. Price seems to be spot on for food of this quality too. And they have a lot of seating available. I count (12) tables for four, (1) table for six, and (2) tables for two. The tables look like they could be easily moved together though if you had a larger group.
