Pueblo Viejo Mexican Restaurant, Brooksville FL

I had Shrimp Vera Cruz.
Chef waited too much after shrimp was cooked, the only thing was hot it was the rice, shrimp along with all veggies was cold, as a resul, shrimp was overcooked and cold. Restaurant was 25% occupancy that day, so no excuses.

Loved the atmosphere and service. Found the red sauce served with the Chile relleno to be very sweet. Seemed very strange to me.

Probably the best tastiest quesadilla I've ever had! Ordered it on two separate occasions, just as good the second time! My friend really liked her carnitas as well.
Staff is friendly enough but we had to ask for things more than once. Probably just super busy. Nice atmosphere, a few tables outside too if you prefer that. LOVE their food! You gotta try it - I highly recommend it if you want authentic Mexican food!

Ordered to go. Terrible. Enchiladas were doughey, beans weren't refried. Only thing edible was the rice. I lived in San Diego on the border for 45 years. This is Not Mexican. I wound up paying $10 for rice. Never again. UPDATE: Just wound up throwing my guts up. Contacting Hernando County health dept. Tuesday. I'm not throwing "food" out, saving for health dept to analyze Should be shut down.

We had been here before and service was so so but not bad. Our usual place Plaza Mexico has went downhill with quality, this place is closer so we decided to give this one a try. HORRIBLE MISTAKE. We arrived and were seated about 10 minutes later. It wasnt that the dining was full, it was just nobody really cared. Finally seated. Ordered our drinks. The chips and drinks were pretty fast but that was the high water mark of this place. We ordered our food. The place did pick up while we were there a tad but not at the levels of some places locally. I drank my drink and literally satvthere for 20 mintues for a refill. The waitress, which we rarely saw, when she would come anywhere near us NEVER brought a drink. The host eventually gave us a refill. The food came and was on the verge of inedible. The beef tasted like roadkill. The sauce tasted like it was from the neighbor Save a Lot on sale. The rice had a tinge and the beans tasted like dog food. HORRIBLE. My wife asked for a to go drink and we never got a bill. We stood up to walk to the counter to pay and ask for our bill there. On our way there we asked one of the servers if she could get our bill for us. The look we got from her was like we were asking for her last kidney. Even after that we got no bill. So we preceeded to the counter where we asked for the bill there. The lady at the counter had to track down our waitress, she literally talked to 4 people who didnt know where our bill was. I am not one to walk out on a bill but this was about as close as I had ever got. She finally tracked down our waitress who glared at us shrugged her shoulders and finally our bill arrived. Needless to say this is a place we will never try again. Which is sad because we really wanted to give this place a chance to earn our patronage. If they keep this up long people will quit coming

I started going to this place often the last few months. I loved their mexican steak torta, was delicious and w lots of steak as my visits became often I even order to take home then the portion of the steak in my torts reducing to less and less every time, since I like the place I made an effort to contact them, the manager wasn't available but the guy that got on the phone basically said he is not on control on what they do in the kitchen, I ask if he could just make all portions the same and he assure that some new employees don't care or pay attention, he also add that everything is getting expensive and so they are rationating portions since I pay about 10 plus tax for this bread w beans avocado and steak I feel very disappointed since I thought I found the spot to go for this but they ask me not to put a review but ask for more carne in your torta, we'll if you happen to go there for a total don't forget to remind them to put the right portion if you fail to say so you will end up w bread w beans avocado and barely 7 pieces of chopped up steak. This is barely nothing when it used to fall off the plate. I sadly will consider finding another Mexican restaurant or make my own torts as I couldn't get to an agreement from the costumer representative to talk to the kitchen about the portion changes between the same order. I probably won't go back since they couldn't try to make it right for my family and I.

The staff seemed friendly and attentive. Got a margarita and chicken chimi. Drink and food arrived quickly. The chimi wasn't as great as I've had elsewhere. Filling was alright and it wasn't crispy like I prefer. May go back for their Tuesday special.

Chile Relleno red sauce was sweet, not what I expected. Beans were great, so was the rice.

The food is absolutely outstanding! I’m literally eating there leftovers right now as I’m making this review.first thing when I walked in, got a clean table and had chips and salsa instantly. Music is great, amazing staff.

This has become my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Hernando County area.
I love the food and the service. I recommend the soft tacos, the chicken chimichangas, horchata, and the Taco Salad.

Good, clean, family and friendly atmosphere. Have been in a few times and really enjoy the food. I have ordered something different each time. It's always delicious and reasonably priced. Good selection of well made drinks.

Absolutely and thoroughly average Mexican with decent Margaritas and large portion sizes. The chips and salsa were maybe the only above average part of the meal, but definitely not particularly noteworthy.

Staff is super organized and attentive. This is one of the best places for carnitas and nachos - and one of the few restaurants left where we can feed our family of 4 for under $100. Highly recommend!

Went to this restaurant twice in one week.it's that good. Fresh ingredients, good service, fresh warm chips, tasty homemade salsa.
