Putnam County Animal Control, Palatka FL

I adopted two dogs from them and they great with kids and love to play and they are not food aggressive

These people should ot be in the position they are in. This is the most incompetent, pathetic animal control office I've ever dealt with. We as a neighborhood on Bonita dr, have reported dog abuse and severe neglect to a dog that is chained up by a tree in a yard that is under water at times who never has food unless the neighbors feeds him. We all have to take turns feeding it because the abusive owner doesn't feed it. We've reported him beating the dog as well as neglect and these sorry people do nothing to help. They are a pathetic excuse for animal control officers. Incompetence at its worst!

Have nothing but problems with this animal control they don't want to ever do anything. I called yesterday about a chicken roaming around in a private park I live in. They just overlooked the incident like they always do. Congratulations you guys continue to disappoint Putnam County. It's really beginning to be a joke. Lets get with the program. This why people take matters into there own hands. Tell you what the next step is getting whatever kind of license I need to kill this m*********** and then I am going to fry it and eat it. Animal control that.

With ZERO help from PCAC I have no choice but to take legal action against the dog owner & PCAC.
And yes, dog still tied to tree, no one home, 4"from street, barking uncontrollably.

Don't waste your time calling AC.just call the Sheriff's office.
I called for 2 days, left 3 messages with my name, address and phone number.no one came or returned my call.today 2/14/23 when the neighbors chained the 70lb dog to the tree & left it to Howell and Bark non-stop I called the AC once again after the 3rd call someone answered. Brittany was less then useless & absolutely no action has been taken.so from now on, I'll just call the Putnam county sheriff's office.because Putnam county animal control or absolutely worthless. I deeply suggest everyone else do the same.

It's insane how I've been calling for someone to pick up a cat in my yard that's not ours. Now this poor thing is hurt, I don't know how and who, probably another animal hurt her. It's crazy how NO ONE answers my phone call! It's been over a month! Smh

My wife and I volunteer walking the dogs at this facility from time to time. The staff is absolutely AMAZING! I feel for these folks who work 7 days a week and only get paid for 5. They deal with so much thrown at them and they do their best to care for the animals. Shame on the county council for promising a new shelter year after year and doing nothing about it. If you are not happy with the way this facility is run, try volunteering, or better yet.get the county to build a new facility away from a dump! Thank you to all who work at this facility!

I called several days in a row at different times of the day and left voicemails. They don’t respond and they don’t call back.

I’ve been trying to contact animal control for weeks. My experience has not been good. During office hours, they simply don’t answer the phone. After hours you can leave a message but they don’t ever return my call. So, is there a better way of getting in touch with them? Inquiring minds want to know.

This is an absolutely disgrace to the county the way this animal control is runed. Tax payers money completely missed use. The board of county commissioners is back this good ole work environment. Everyone should look at this misbehavior and speak about it at voting time. One is too good. Need a zero

Lazy and negligent. They would rather let animals die than do their job. You can call about the same instance of animal neglect 10+ times and they won't do anything about it.

The staff at this shelter are amazing.
They sincerely care about the animals and do their best with what little they have to work with.
It would be nice to see the county officials care abit more and increase the shelters budget so they can improve on other things like kennel space.
We see so much need for our rural shelters.

The woman who work here are so kind and loving towards animals. When I moved, I couldn't take my 2 cats to where I was staying until my new place was ready so my son's Dad was supposed to get them that night. He didn't and I was devastated. The new owner of the house called and lmk animal control would be picking them up soon. I immediately called animal control and Carol was so nice. She worked with me on the time frame bc I was coming from Fleming Island and I met her at the shelter so I didn't have to pay a fee to get them out. There were so many dogs there and she told me she has 4 dogs that she's rescued already, she doesn't have anymore room. So before you get mad at people who have to put animals down, get mad at their owners who abandoned their animals!

Called them several times about two dogs roaming the neighbor hood took pictures and sent to them still nothing done about the problem when I set on my porch I see the dog jump the fence then when cars go by it starts chasing them a waste of tax payers money

Called about the irresponsible pet owner neighbors. Took a video of the starving dog. It was rescued. Have not seen the neighbors in 2 months but another of their dogs is running around very emaciated noticed yesterday. Put food out and need to take a video. They abandoned her. They should be charged!

Adopted a new kitty.very nice.people and knowledgeable about the needs of their animals and educated me on the.medical issues and Care giving requirements

I too wonder exactly what animal control is actually good for. Have a neighbor dog that yaps constantly to be let back inside. Have called to have an end put to it. Have made contact with owner. 2 types of dog owners exist. Responsible and considerate dog owners and ones that have no business owning a dog.ever. Putnam animal control is a complete waste of taxpayer money. One star, only because it's required to post a review. Ps, need more funding? Start fining the dog owners for nuisance animals and you'll have plenty of funding. It's not brain surgery people.

This under-funded, literally in the dump (no lie here) place has turned itself around with better staffing than in years past. The staff have worked very hard to turn it from a high kill location to a no kill location. The staff works with rescues to get companion animals into loving homes. Volunteers are always needed.

I just wish they would do something about my neighbors dogs who are CONSTANTLY OUTSIDE daily in this Florida heat! I have plenty of video evidence wish I could post it! They bark at anything and everything including the wind! It disturbs my son and they refuse to send someone out!
