On June 22nd Thursday 2023 we started out to keep our appointment for the retina center at 11: 30. Although her husband and caretaker watched weather on the television we were unaware that there were traffic detours due to flooding. As a result she arrived 12 minutes late. The caretaker informed Dr. Meers staff of the situation. We were told doctor Meer's only allows 7 minutes per patient. As a result this dispassionate doctor refused to treat a 91 year old patient on hospice who is unable to walk because she was 12 minutes late. Now she is unable to go back. I wouldn't recommend the retina center.

Had eye surgery in January 2022 by Dr Robert Mames. Couldn’t be happier. In todays crazy world it seems that caring, professional Drs and staff are very rare. Everyone in the office is kind, caring and very, very professional. Highly recommend The Retina Center in Ocala, Fl. And Dr. Robert Mames. The staff…Cathy, Melia, Carlos, Brandon and Mark are wonderful & I’m grateful and very thankful for a stress free experience and for each and every one of them!

I do not take this review lightly and I will not go into all of the details that made this the worst medical experience that I have ever encountered; however, the way I was treated by Dr. Mame's was unacceptable and borders on unethical and was unprofessional. I am now waiting for my records to be transferred to another eye center. After being diagnosed with CRVO I was told to take a baby aspirin each day and to come back in two weeks to start injections. My vision is starting to decrease. On a positive note his office staff and nurse were friendly and supportive of what I went through. The office staff reported my experience to the office manager who called me the day after my appointment to find out I why I left so upset. After I gave her all of the details she apologized and agreed this was not acceptable.

I was referred to Dr. Mames at The Retina Center by my Optician who noticed blood in my eye. There was so much blood in my eye I couldn’t see my hands in front of me. The staff was so friendly, welcoming and professional and Dr. Mames was God sent, he was so personable and knowledgeable and guided me every step of the way. After being evaluated it appears that I tore my retina. I ended up needing the cryotherapy procedure to stop the bleeding but there was too much blood in my eye so I underwent surgery to remove all the blood and repair my retina. Four weeks after surgery my vision is back 100% so thank you Dr. Mames & Staff.

Very Covid paranoid! Makr you stay in your car outside in hot sun! Apparently doesn’t matter if you’ve had your vaccine or not! You can’t even go inside to use the bathroom they keep the door locked! Then they rushed my friends eye numb meds so the needle hurt a lot as they stuck it in her eye, she has has had this done 5 times with no pain b4. But this time it hurt for the rest of the day! I feel if they cleaned better and cared more about their patients and not be so paranoid about covid it might be a good place. But I would never step foot in there EVER

Dr. Mames immediately struck me as being super intelligent! He explained everything to me in a way I could understand and there's no God complex whatsoever with him. He's like a friendly neighbor who just happens to be a brilliant retina specialist. The staff is efficient, friendly and easy to work with.

I have visited The Retina Center, with Dr. Robert N. Mames who is my primary treatment doctor, on several occasions. On each visit I have always been treated with the upmost respect as a patient by him and all of the staff at the Retina Center. My care and experience has been exceptional! I trust my treatment with The Retina Center, the staff are very professional and most of all caring. I would recommended The Retina Center services to anyone in need of retina treatment. My experience has been great!

I was treated for a torn retina at the Retina Center in Ocala, Fl. Dr. Mames and his whole staff were outstanding. The moment I pulled up to his office and called to check in I was put at ease. They did everything they could to eliminate coming into contact with Covid. All of my paperwork and payments were completed in my vehicle. They even dilated my eyes in my vehicle. Once I went inside everything was handled with sanitation in mind. Dr. Mames is outstanding! He was professional and easy to talk to. He was able to successfully repair my retina with cryotherapy surgery on my first visit even though it was New Years Eve. His staff followed up with phone calls everyday for a week after surgery. I pray I have no more retina issues but am reassured to know that Dr. Mames and his wonderful staff are only a phone call away.

OK so they discharge me without me even knowing or getting a letter sent to me I was told on the same day as my appointment five minutes prior. Because I wasn’t following doctors orders and missed my follow up appointment. Which I had to reschedule a couple of times because I was sick. I had an Pneumonia and I was quarantine for a while. There’s a virus going on everywhere and I can’t believe you got penalized for canceling your appointments and rescheduling. I was called four or five times to confirm my appointment even the same day as my appointment I was called to confirm. And nobody mentioned that they discharge me. It is hard to get out of work early because their last appointment is like at 3: 15. They really don’t care about you or nobody they just want your money.

Dr. Robert Mames and the staff at the Retina Center in Ocala, FL are the epitome of outstanding health care professionals. The front staff you meet on entering are very friendly and exhibit a high degree of professionalism that provides a nice comfort level for the patient. This carries through to Dr. Mames himself. He is very laid back and explains all the procedures in detail the layman can understand.
I had suffered a ruptured blood vessel in the eye that caused a tear in my retina. Being on a blood thinner made it more difficult to diagnose as my eye ball was filled with blood. It took several visits before Dr. Mames could locate the tear and close it with laser surgery. Then some freezing surgery was applied to provide more assurance the retina would stay attached.
Without hesitation, I would recommend Dr. Mames and his staff at the retina center for your eye care. Thanks to them I still have full sight in the affected eye. I was treated at his Ocala, Fl facility.
