Because my review is quite lengthy and because I am limited to the number of characters, I am going to cut and paste my remarks in 4 separate reviews one right after the other.

3 months ago I hurt my knee playing Pickleball. At first I thought it was something sprain but after a month of not playing, the pain on the outside of my right knee was not getting better. I obviously thought the worst, i.e. "knee replacement". I did not know any Orthopedic surgeons so I went on line to see if I could find one. I had 3 criteria I was looking for: a) that he/she was local in Hollywood, b) that he/she had a lot of great on line references and c) that they were associated with Memorial Hospital. BINGO.l. Hit the jackpot. I found Dr Simon. At my first appointment I described where my pain was etc and I thought I did it. She explained to me the different possibilities of my injury but that she first needed to have X-rays taken. Once they were taken, a few minutes later Dr Simon came in and said she had good news and bad news. She said the good news was that my knee was absolutely fine, but that although she now surmised I had done something with my meniscus but would have to have an MRI taken. She then showed me pictures of what the Meniscus was and was very detailed about both the inner and outer meniscus. Her staff then called and had me set up at the digital place down the street to have the MRI done. When I came back a week later, Dr Simon showed me exactly what she had suspected and that i had torn my outside meniscus. Surgery was then set for a few weeks later. On the Thursday before my Monday surgery, I had some concerns. I called Dr Simon's office and was told that she was out of town on business in the State of Washington, but that she would be given my message. Within an hour she called me. I told her that my concern was that my leg felt fine and that my daily walking of 15 miles a day 5 days a week gave me no problems what so ever and I was having second thoughts about the surgery. She assured me that she would never force surgery upon any patient but she was very clear in her description why walking caused no pain, but playing Pickleball was a horse of another color. I said to her did she think if I took my tennis racquet to the local park and hit it against the racquet ball wall, that perhaps I could get a sense of what I could or could not do. She said that was a good idea and to please call her the next day (Friday) because if she needed to cancel the surgery she would. Well, although I only got 5 minutes of practice time on Friday due to rain, it was obvious to me that my leg/knee had not gotten any better and i was only fooling myself thinking it would get better on its own. I immediately called Dr Rosen as I told her I would, since I knew she was 3 hours earlier and was still early afternoon for her. She answered my call immediately and I told her that I had full faith in her and that I would see her Monday morning for surgery. I could write volumes about how well I was treated at Memorial Hospital South from the moment the Pre-Surgical nurse took me under her wings for the 90 minutes prior to my surgery.

Doctor is good but they need to fire the first lady at the front desk. (Not the lady behind her she is nice) She has a really nasty attitude. Every time there was an encounter that I saw her interacting with other people there and she just was really mean and nasty. I had no problem with her at first but the third time I was there she gave me attitude as well. Not a good way to show people into your office when someone constantly is nasty to everyone.

Dr Simon is very thorough, a good listener, astute observer and does not try to get you to spend money unnecessarily.
