Great spot for steaks and service. No one does steaks like RC. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Kurt (GM) always takes the time to great and chat with my wife and I. Need a place for great food, service and a nice environment.go to Ruth Chris.

Absolutely love Ruth’s Chris Tampa! They have amazing food and THE BEST service. Ramsey is exceptional. He truly makes the experience one of a kind and is the main reason this is our #1 pick.

This was a takeout order. I placed the order at 3: 50, before they opened at 4pm. The online ordering told me 4: 15 and 4: 30 pickup times were not available because it was too close to opening, not enough time to cook.so I picked 4: 45. We arrived at 4: 15 but waited in the car until 4: 35, so as not to be a pain.
When we went in, we discovered the order haven't even been entered in the system or begun cooking because the "tablets weren't initiated by the management yet". We were told it would be 20-25 mins! Management did not even come to talk to us. Hostess Eva made a brief misplaced attempt to reason with me that the "pickup time is actually 4: 45" until I assume she realized that it was now 4: 40.and it wasn't going to be ready anyway! My wife has Alzheimer's and I never know how long she can sit. That's why we do take out. So we sat.we were a lobby fixture til 5.
I really wish I had walked in at 4: 15 and been a pain.
Unacceptable.
While sitting there, noticed the hostesses were rather automatic with their guest chats and there was a fair amount of beat up chairs. Not what I expected in such a pricey / fancy restaurant.
Food was fine. At least they got the order right.

Bar staff makes knockout drinks. Food is always tasty. Any issues are addressed promptly by the GM (Kurt). Staff are always courteous and steaks are lights out the best. Great spot.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in South Tampa for the first time in 20 years. I couldn't recall my last experience, but I was excited as I was being taken to celebrate my birthday. While I would love to say the experience was amazing, I was genuinely disappointed.

When eating at a steakhouse, there are undoubtedly elevated expectations regarding product and service. One of the unique things about this restaurant is they use plates heated up to 400-500 degrees, so it is sizzling hot when the food is brought out.

Our dinner started with Crab Cakes as an appetizer. Using hot plates is a great way to present a fine dining experience; however, the crab cakes were burning in this case. They were dry and firm, not flakey or fluffy as they should be. The outside of the crab cakes were burnt, so when you ate them, it tasted like char. The other unusual thing is there was only horseradish. There is no other accompaniment, for example, a lemon half or tartar. Actually, I don't like horseradish.

We shared a Blue Cheese wedge for our second course, and I had a Lobster Bisque. While the salad was amazing (hard to screw up), the Lobster Bisque was more like Lobster Soup. The difference is that a Bisque should be a rich, smooth, creamy sauce. The bisque was the consistency of water.

For our entrees, we both got a steak. We also got the Creamed Spinach, Potato Au Gratin, and Asparagus.

The FIRST thing the waiter should always do is ask the table to cut into their steak to ensure it was cooked properly. He did not. I typically like medium rare, as he described it as a hot red center. Mine was overcooked border line Medium to Medium Well. I decided to eat it since I was not paying for dinner and didn't want to embarrass the host. I think the best side was the potato au gratin. That was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and served in a hot dish. The asparagus was terrible. It was as thin as a pencil, and it was way overcooked. It also came out cold.

This was truly a disappointing experience. If I were paying for it, I would have said something. Now, I realize why I haven't eaten there in 20 years. Tampa is full of some amazing options when it comes to steak; try a different option.

Ruth’s Tampa is my go-to for awesome drinks and great food. On an ideal night, you’ll be lucky to have Patrick as your waitstaff and James making your drinks. All of the bar staff is awesome including Savannah and Ramsay and so many of the staff that help them. We truly appreciate a night out with y’all and enjoy every minute.

I love me a good steak, decided to try this place since Charley’s was closed Labor Day. Long Horn across the street would have probably been a better choice. I ordered the filet - med, they served the filet on a scorching hot plate with butter sizzling. Not sure what the thought process is but it kept cooking my steak to the point of med well - I had to take it off the hot plate so it would stop cooking. Unfortunately, the taste to me was disgusting. The filet was not seasoned, tasted like it was cooked in un salted butter with no seasoning at all. I had to apply table salt and pepper and that still didn’t work. Very disappointed, nonetheless no need for me to return. This is not an upscale steakhouse. If you have no standards for steak and like to waste money this is your place. I did not complain to manager nor waiter. I find no point in that. If you advertise to be a steak house I hold you to that. If you prove otherwise- I take the lost once. Sadly, I woke up today feeling sick with diarrhea and vomiting. This was the only meal I had yesterday so I can’t blame it on anything else. Save your health.

I had a good time here but the food needs some serious attention. The bread was tough and overcooked. The caeser salad had WAY TO MUCH dressing. When we ordered the two steak and lobsters they put the lemon all over the steak. This was the worst steak ive had at a restaurant in a very very long time. It wasnt enjoyable. The postives. Espresso martini was very good. Dessert cremebrulee was tasty. The server was extremely outgoing and polite. Infact. We found him so kind we couldnt find it in our hearts to say anything. Im sure if the steak wasnt next to a lobster with a lemon all over the plate I would have enjoyed it but spending well over 200$ for a lemon flavored steak was enough to make me not want to return anytime soon.

I remember when this place had a really outstanding reputation but the food has just really taken a dive.

I remember a meal at Ruth’s Chris was a big deal, last night it felt like any other steakhouse. The valet parking is basically forced upon you because they block out most of the parking lot. I understand it’s complimentary, but I thought it was unnecessary. My filet was very under seasoned and tough. The lobster tail was over cooked. The creamed spinach tasted off so I sent it back. They offered me another side. The sweet potatoes were good, but very sweet. The waiter was attentive and amiable. I just didn’t feel like it was a high class steakhouse experience and it should be for the prices.

Not very good, the steak was rough, the carpet is dirty as hell, and the table wobblies. Its pretty low end for a higher end steak house.

When it has to be a special meal and you want a great steak and service this should be one of the top of options in Tampa. Do dress up but not required. No shorts or sandals please, even in Florida. Use the Valet Service if raining or to impress. Highly trained staff are everywhere tending to you and wishing you to Enjoy. Amazing food options. The Caesar Salad is huge, lettuce is chopped into smaller easier to eat pieces and piled with shaved cheese. Eat half of it and save the rest to go or you will have trouble finishing your meal. Favorite steak is the well marbled Ribeye Steak which is more tender than any Filet and very flavorful. The 11 oz Filet was a little dry and fibery. I added the Blue Cheese crust on the ribeye which was amazing.
Plates are extremely hot when bought out and steaks will continue to cook. We ordered steaks cooked medium and they were but next time we will order Medium Rare, we were told they could take them back to retouch if needed. Mashed potatoes are very good. Both the Cheese Cake and Cream Brulee were the best we have ever had. Heavy on the cream and eggs and made to perfection.
Options I won't reorder: Lobster Bisque, I didn't know what to expect but this was not it. It was quickly replaced with a salad. Creamed Spinach had no flavor. The Petite Filet offered on the Summer Specials is a hard pass. It was dry and no flavor.
If you are celebrating something let them know and they will decorate your table and your dessert dish. We had better service on the celebration visit. Crumbs were frequently removed from the table, which are many because you are cutting the crisp hot bread as the meal begins. Bread is delicious but the butter that is served is whipped and warm and spreads nicely. It has an incredible flavor.service from front to end was amazing. Our first visit the young lady who served us was a bit over the top and made me feel uncomfortable. Next time was fine. The maître d was on the dining floor and checking on each table. I noticed in the bar area many were ordering the burgers and fries. I haven't tried them yet.

THE EXPERIENCE: I have visited Ruth Chris many times and in different locations and I will say this one is my least favorite. We were seated in a private room with an extremely noisy family of about 10 with children running around and jumping on the chairs. This was most aggravating and inconsiderate especially after informing the hostess that we were there celebrating an Anniversary. I had to ask to be moved to a different location.

Additionally, they have the STUPIDEST hat policy as I came in with a Nice Beaver fur Cowboy hat on and the Manager refused to allow me to be seated with it. Stated that only hats for religious reasons or medical reasons are allowed (as if they would know the difference)! I can see baseball caps but ANY dress hat is freaking ridiculous! I assume too many people come in dressed in ball caps so we must all be grouped with them (of course). It was most embarrassing to be approached and frustrating to have a $600 hat being held in the managers office while I finished my dinner.

FOOD:
We ordered Filet/lobster tail which was well prepared and that's about where the goodness stops. The lobster Mac n cheese is extremely bland and the spinach is as well. Every single side we ordered including my lobster bisque soup was STONE COLD! I finally got aggravated and asked could I at least have warm creamed spinach. Bread was incredibly stale and Cesar Salad was wilted!

Our Server Ricardo was good and was very polite but I was honestly unimpressed for the $310 we spent. There are just too many other nice restaurants in Tampa. This Ruth Chris is not up to standards. I will NOT return unless it's for the happy hour cheeseburger at the bar and that's about it! This Ruth Chris has gone by way of the garbage!

I remember when RC was real fancy. It was a big deal to go there and the food and service matched that. I don't feel like it's the same place. Quality and service seems to have gone down in the last few years.

Nothing was bad but nothing was great. Certainly not worth the price tag. There's much better options at the price point.

Appears to be upscale as most Ruth Chris restaurants are but food not the standard Ruth Chris quality. Original waiter James awesome, however assistant waitress found to be rude and unprofessional when he wasn't available.

Excellent service celebrated our anniversary very nicely done, very thoughtful. Our disappointment was the ribeye served on a small oval plate which was very odd the steak basically touched the rim of the plate. Also, the steak was undercooked, definitely was not medium It was more rare and had a very gamy taste. Potato sides were OK. The appetizers were good.

The best restaurant I have ever been at. The customer service from the waiters are amazing, the manager is amazing, the food and atmosphere is great, the prices for the quality of food is great. There’s no place better than Ruth Chris, point, blank, period.
