Salt Shack On The Bay reviews
5 Wow! Just checked receipt and realized we paid $10.50 for a bloody mary with a lime garnish. Menu boasts an amazing drink full of the 'kitchen sink' garnishes.
But thought we just served the 'house' version. Ok.
NOPE.paid for special drink and got house! Buyers beware.
Place has so many good things to offer, but don't need to leave customers feeling like they were overcharged.
VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Didn’t get to the food:
1. After 15 minutes waiting for a server threw in the towel and left.
2. What was there that was decisive about leaving besides poor service? I can look over slow service, but not …
A. Smell of vomit pervasive in dining area with bar under a hut.
B. Chunky, slippery slime on the floor in x4 places from hostess stand to the table.
C. Mediocre band that was so loud it could be heard half way across Gandy Bridge…And I enjoy Margaritaville lifestyle. Poor guys.
So, no food reviews except menu choices at liquor overpriced selections which will insult anyone with an IQ over 110. I’m not cheap; and, I’m not that frivolous about getting quality of fare. I hate to see the obviously middle class crowd being taken advantage of by the quick liquor $$$ mentality of management that has zero appeal as to a hygienically impoverished ambiance.
In summary, I heard it was a “nice” local place to enjoy a mid Sunday afternoon. Nope.
Govern your decision to go or not to go accordingly.
Tried this place today. Not sure what the fuss is all about but I have had waaaay better seafood from other restaurants. Small portions.which are average at best. Our waiter was super nice though. The place is a vibe but the food is not.totally overrated.
Thought I'd give this hidden gem a shot. Really cool place right on the Bay by the Gandy Bridge. There is a bar section, main restaurant section and picnic tables along the bay. All areas are outdoor style with fans to create a breeze. This was a bit of an issue as there was one large fan that was overly strong to where 4 families had to move from the tables directly in front of it as there were getting blown away. It definitely was not pleasant. Food was decent. The blackened grouper sandwich was flavorful but dry as there was no sauce or tarter provided with it. The Mahi tacos had large pieces of Mahi and plenty of sauce. Fries were seasoned and crispy. Coconut shrimp appetizer was delicious. Service was OK, could have been better. I think we will give it another try as it just might have been an off day.
