Sanibel Moorings Resort

Praying that everyone made it thru the hurricane fine. Very worried Abt you all. Cannot communicate due to towers down. We will rebuild stronger and better, remember Sanibel Island / Moorings is our MAGICAL place! With all my love always. / The Tojeiro/Flores family.

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Sanibel Moorings for many, many years. I would visit with my parents when I was young, and now I get to bring my own children to enjoy paradise with me. The grounds of the moorings are amazing and the amenities on the resort are perfect for a laid back vacation. Unit 641 has been our home away from home for many years. I can't speak about other condos at the resort because we always stay in this one. It's always been perfect for us. It has always been kept very nicely updated and this year was no exception, with several new updates in furniture and window coverings. Love the new shutters! We usually have eaten out most nights at the amazing restaurants on the island, but this year we decided we were going to eat most of our meals in. The grills were so convenient and only steps away from the condo. The kitchen in the condo was well equipt with everything we needed to make us feel right at home. We're already excited for our next vacation in paradise!

Horrible experience. This place should be a 55 an older place. In no way is the Sanibel Moorings a resort. This was our second time staying and this time was worse than the first. What you see on the site are obviously pictures taken when the room was first done. The rug was dingy, roaches 2 different days, hairs behind the bathroom door, super slippery shower tile, we were on the second floor and the outside light didn’t work. Actually a few of the buildings were quite dark and dangerous at night. The huge pool only allows 18 people at a time on a sold out weekend. They nickel and dime you for everything. No towels, if you need extra dish soap etc you will be charged. And on the last day our AC stopped working. Spend your money on a real resort if visiting Sanibel.

Love this place! It is so clean, peaceful and relaxing! This was my second stay at this resort and will definitely stay again when back in the area. The staff members are nice, and the manager Kari, was so helpful and welcoming both trips. Many staff members that we spoke with had been there for several years, which says a lot about their manager Kari. The grounds are so beautiful and we loved both condos we’ve stayed in.

We really enjoyed our week long stay here. It was quiet and laid back, and the gardens are beautiful. The staff was very nice too. They have beach chairs and umbrellas, but you have to get to the beach early as they go quickly. Access to the beach is very close, and the beach and water are clean and clear. I wish I was there again right now!

I've stayed at many places on Sanibel over the past few decades and I think this is by far my favorite. I believe we stay in room 331 and we loved it so much we want to book it again next summer. The condo was super clean and updated. It was well equipped and spacious. All staff interactions were great. I loved how you can drop all the towels in bins and call and order fresh, clean ones to pick up by the office. Many of the guest were regulars and we met so many nice families that frequent there. It says a lot when you hear people say they've been coming for decades!

I agree with all the previous reviews that the grounds are absolutely beautiful. The tropical plants they have collected and displayed are fantastic. It is a short distance to the beach. Having stayed in many different places in Sanibel I believe I have a good basis to make a review. The individual condos are owned by various people. Some look very updated and others not so much (like mine). Carpet and floors were less than clean. Kitchen supplies were scarce (no spatula, coffee filters, whisk, tongs, etc.). Toaster was very old and functioned poorly. Outdoor grills were very nice but usually had to share because of many people wanting to use them. Staff responded quickly on text but they seemed like they were not so happy to deal with guests. Pool hours while posted, were at the whim of staff who wanted to close early so they could leave. Rules seemed to be randomly applied. The pool had many people saving chairs early (against policy) and not using them all day, leaving some guests with no place to sit.
While I would be willing to try this resort again, it wouldn't be the first place I would try.

We have traveled to several beaches over the years and nothing comes close to Sanibel. The grounds of Sanibel Moorings are unlike any you will see anywhere. It is truly as close to Paradise as you can get. You get the experience of both the beach and the dock. While some of the units could use a little updating they are always super clean and fresh. The housekeeping is outstanding! We love it here and recommend Sanibel Moorings to everyone we know.

I have stayed at Sanibel Moorings several times over the past 30 years, the last being Christmas of 2021.
The grounds are absolutely beautiful and meticulously manicured. The pools are both very nice and are large enough to fit the need of the complex. Each building consists of 8 condos and all of them are a reasonable walk to the beach (note there are condos across the street along the canal which makes the walk a bit longer). Beach access is via three different board walks. The Moorings provide beach umbrellas, lounge chairs, and Adirondack chairs for use on the beach. This is fantastic especially if you are flying into the area. They also offer a nice grilling area, but only have three grills. The grills are nice Weber Genesis gas grills, but get very crowded in the evening. I would suggest adding one or two more.

We had several family members staying this we had a look at 4 different units. All varied on updates from seemingly none over the years to more modern updates. My personal unit had updated kitchen cabinets, counter top, floors and master bath. The other units were not as updated and could use some fresh paint and overhauls. As this was the case with our stay 6 years ago, I’d hope they Moorings focus on interior renovations to stay current.

Overall, the Moorings will continue to be my choice of stay when I come back to Sanibel. I have many fond memories there, and look forward to more.

Excellent place to visit, clean and friendly. Staff is excellent but contractors repairing unit above where we stayed was continually working during unauthorized hours which was disappointing however staff handles extremely well.

Sanibel Moorings is a very nice resort. Check-in was very easy. We arrived very late at night and they provided directions to open a lock box which had our welcome packet. We had no issues finding our condo. The condos are huge. We had a two bedroom. It had two full baths, a full kitchen, dining room, family room and screened porch. The condo wasn't exceptional other than the amount of space. The beds were not too comfortable, the master needs a new mattress as it was too soft. The kitchen was well equipped, but they have an induction stove top which had some issues heating up appropriately.

The pools were on the cooler side and I don't believe they were heated at this time. They do have adult hours which is nice. The grounds around the resort are beautiful. Basically, you are in a botanical garden. The beach is nice and private. You can easily get your own umbrella and beach chairs. Definitely bring bug spray as they have no-see-ums and mosquitos.

The location is close to Periwinkle Way and easy to access any restaurant/store.

We would likely come again.

The grounds, pool and beach were all very lovely. However, the condo was less than desirable. The carpet was very dirty. Twice we had giant cockroaches in the kitchen trash bin - we reported both incidents to management but nothing was done. In addition, on our last night, I incurred a spider bite while sleeping which became infected and entailed an Urgent Care visit - subsequently I had to take 2 antibiotics for 10 days. If the condo had been cleaner and the cockroach and spider issue addressed, it would have been a great vacation.

Check in was easy. The unit is fantastic. Decor is very nice. The unit was immaculate. Furnishings are very beautiful and well-maintained.
When we arrived, I spilled some water on the floor from our cooler. We wiped it up with a white paper towel and there was absolutely no soil on the towel.
We have a boat dock right outside of the back of the unit. The water in the Waterway behind us is visible from the bedroom window as well as the living room sliding doors. The screened-in patio is beautifully furnished, and overlooks the Waterway.
There is ample parking, but only one reserved parking space for each unit. Even though parking is restricted, there were several guest spaces open and available.
The beach is accessed through the property. It is very easy to walk to the beach.
We were very pleased to find out that they set up umbrellas on the beach for the residents. In addition, they have a location near the beach that has lounge chairs and additional umbrellas if needed.
There are plenty of areas to visit on a bicycle. There are very good bicycle paths all over the island.
My wife feels this is about the best place we have ever visited. And it is wonderful because it's our 50th anniversary!

We’ve been coming here for more than 30 years - obviously, we love this place. Rooms are clean and well-stocked with kitchen supplies. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Easy access to the beautiful beach. We always get a room dockside to take advantage of some early morning fishing.

The gardens are beautiful, spent so much time walking through and on my lanai. Our condo was well sticked and comfortable. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful.we will be back

This place is wonderful accommodations are great. The staff very friendly and helpful. The location ideal. We have been doing family vacations here for years and it is great each and every time

Management is very responsive to any problem. The grounds are immaculately kept. The kitchen in our unit was well supplied with almost anything you might need, even a juicer plate.

We love the beautiful & upgraded unit #841! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed cooking for my family! The beach is gorgeous & the service has been great. Will definitely bring my family back!
