SanTo’s Modern American Buffet & Sushi, Coconut Creek FL

I almost didn't want to review this place just because I don't want too many people to come and try it, but then it wouldn't be fair for this place. They have the best all-you-can-eat crab legs so far. They also boil and warm them for you. I will go back for many more!

Upfront review: they are very pricey compared to other sushi and buffet spots. Here is why: for a buffet, your options are very high quality. If you eat enough it may be bang for your buck. Big sushi and sashimi pieces, salmon, seafoods, desserts, and on the weekends they offer even more high-end options. Hot, cold, and of course raw options. Lots of variety. Also for the price: The service is great and the place is always super clean. Modern ambience. I've dined at this location and also the other location in Boca for about 7 or 8 years maybe now. I love takeout because this way, if you're on a budget but need a sushi fix, you pay by the pound and you can just tip the hostess who packs your utensils and sauces. Always super consistent.

I don’t want to write this review because santos has been our favorite restaurant for years since it opened however I have to. We haven’t been for several months but had family visiting so thought let’s take them to the best sushi buffet we know and drove 40 mins. Table was sticky, and so was the floor. I’ve never experience this here, that should have been the first red flag. Crab wasn’t fresh and was dried up inside, oysters were fine. Sushi wasn’t fresh and we’re not made how they used to be. Mashed potatoes tasted strange, meat was severely over cooked. The rest of the dishes were ok. Desert options were limited, and not restocked. I had to scrape the bottom of the ice cream tubs as they had not been changed out. No more donuts either. Sad to say but this experience has lost us as a customer, we won’t be back.

I've been here a few times and it's always very good. One of the best buffets I've been to. The sushi is surprisingly good for a buffet. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant is clean. It has a nice selection. Everyone should at least give this place a try.

06/18/23 - Six years after my previous review. Still great. And I know this will sound strange but I’ve always wanted to mention that if you ever wanted Earth’s greatest “Chicken McNuggets”, and I know you’re out there, this place always has them.

Better than most in quality and priced accordingly.
The canned sodas are a whopping $4.50 PER twelve ounce CAN!
They desperately need "fountain" drinks with free refills like absolutely every other restaurant.
The Lobster bisque is exceptional.
The Sushi isn't that good. But there are many other good options. And they are kept filled.

My husband and I were very disappointed in the food. We haven't been there in quite awhile so we were really looking forward to it. The staff couldn't have been any nicer but the food was a bit disappointing kind of bland. We were there for lunch and we will try one more time at dinner maybe that will be better.we'll see!

Service was okay, food was absolutely horrible. The sushi, specifically, was atrocious. Not fresh, and my stomach was upset immediately afterwards. Would NOT recommend!

They have a wide variety of food, if you don't like fish they have options such as picaña and chicken the menu they offer is quite varied, there is something for all tastes, you can eat as much as you want and for a reasonable price, they have a variety of desserts, my favorite the creme brûlée

Shockingly poor sushi quality in terms of freshness, integrity and presentation. Also multiple trays in the sushi section were empty for most of our visit. The carving station was also low quality. The chicken and beef overcooked. Multiple areas of the buffet were dirty or messy. Really bad experience, I am shocked that it's rated so highly and I would definitely not return.

2023 update: this place used to be a lot better. Many hot items weren't hot and some seemed to have sat there a long time. However, the sushi quality and selection were very good. Furthermore, I did not think the experience was worth $34 per person.

I saw it on Instagram and said I have to try it but i was dissapointed. Place was nowhere near as nice as the pics, and it lacks all the food variety. Food had no taste. Only thing dining area was clean but toilet was a mess

The good is great, and Victor is simply amazing.
If your glass was half way, he wouldn't wait and fill it, if your utensils were used and you stood up to get more food, you had clean ones on the way back.
And other details.

Just an amazing, amazing service.

The manager and assistant manager are constantly on their phones doing nothing
I highly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone I know.
Plus the manager is a bit of a racist!

I keep visiting Santo's often, especially on the weekends for their seafood buffet featuring crab legs. Great service and charming staff.

A bit on the priceier side for a buffet, but this isn't a typical Chinese/Asian buffet either. They have a large selection of high quality sushi, a grill area with diff meats/sausages/veggies, a hot food section with a mix of American and Asian foods, a soup section that typically has a really tasty lobster bisque, and a pretty varied dessert second (including a self serve ice cream area). On weekends they really step up the seafood game too. But there can be a wait at certain times on weekends too, so be aware of the time you go and how long you want to wait (longest we've waited is any 20 min). Oh and kids are 1/3 to 1/2 off depending on age.

Food is not bad service is okay I enjoyed the food they have a very big selection of sushi meats and Chinese food I went at lunch time however at dinner it's a little more pricey however you have more to choose from including crab legs from what I understand

My friend gave me a gift card for $100 0n 2021and from my understanding that gift card does not expired so when I finally decide to use it, Santos Management did not honor because of new management so it sucks because my friend lost that money and that is a bad business, DO NOT buy Santo's gift card as you will just be wasting your money, very dis-appointed!
