The worst. The automated systems seem to not be able to be manipulated by employees at all. Problems with payments do not get resolved in a timely manner if at all.

I’ve worked at this company and this message is for any employee who currently works there. If you decide to quit then please don’t quit until the middle of the month so that you can get your bonus from the previous month. This company is always hiring new people and they don’t train properly. This causes a disadvantage to new and current customers. Please ask questions when it comes to your mortgage and if you don’t like the answer speak with a supervisor.

On March 29,2023 I sent in $37,059.23 to Select Portfolio Servicing to be applied towards my monthly payments which would have covered a total of 12 months, since I already had a partial credit on my account. That means my next monthly payment would have been due on April 1,2024. Since then I have had nothing but trouble.   It began with a phone call from SPS Mortgage saying I was past due on my account for the May 1,2023 payment. I let the representative know that the large payment was to be applied to my monthly payments,   representative said okay and she would take care of it. Over the next several months I had several phone calls and letters saying I was past due. I  had to continue explaining how the payment was to be applied to several representatives and managers since SPS Mortgage kept reporting me as past due. I was always reassured by Managers and representatives that this would be handled. When the calls continued and past due letters kept coming I finally requested my money back. SPS Mortgage stated they are unable to refund me my money nor can they apply the money towards my monthly payments and that I am now being reported to the credit reporting agencies as past due. I am also to resume my payments or my home will go into foreclosure! I didn't know what to do so I sent in 2 more payments in October of 2023 to cover the past due months and SPS Mortgage is now expecting me to make my next payment on November 1,2023. My credit report is down by 50 points because of the past due reporting which is now affecting my other credit accounts and I cannot afford to keep making these double payments. SPS Mortgage didn't seem to care and let me know that if I don't then my home would be reporting as past due, continue getting late fees and added interest and go into foreclosure.   Please Help!

TERRIBLE. I've dealt with some bad mortgage companies in the past, but these guys take the cake. Then again, Mortgage companies are like Internet Service Providers, are there really any good ones? In the most recent of shenanigans with SPS, they sent me a letter stating they found they had made an error in my modification agreement. They admitted they had been charging me the "incorrect interest rate" for 12 months, TWELVE months, and then they have the nerve to put a 2-week deadline on the paperwork for me to sign to have this corrected or it would remain as is for the life of the loan.
I'm in the military, I'm gone for weeks, if not months, at a time. By the time I come home and sort through my mail, the deadline has already passed. I called SPS right away to check and make sure this wasn't a scam. They confirmed it was legitimate and told me to send in the signed paperwork anyway. I sent it in and followed up with several phone calls to make sure it went through. They assured me they had received it, and were processing it and would let me know once it went through. I left for a couple months for work, didn't hear back from them (never do). Came back, looked at my bank statement, and they were still drawing the same amount out. I call them, only to have the customer service rep have no idea what I was talking about - I swear you have to do their job for them. Every customer service rep assures you they are putting all the notes in your account for the next person. Well, either the previous rep is incompetent at taking notes or the next one is incompetent at reading notes, because you always have to re-explain the entire situation. Anyway, no one at SPS talks to each other, the departments don't even have contact info for each other, the workers are hamstrung by the organization, and when things get missed, no one has a clue why. So this poor lady trying to help me didn't know why they hadn't processed it, finally found a note saying the "offer" had expired because they never received the paperwork. She "escalated" it for review (I'm not holding my breath) and told me there's no guarantee they will approve it. I told her, how are they going to make a mistake, over-charge me because of it, and then act like it's my fault they didn't fix it, because I didn’t meet their BS deadline? That's robbery and extortion. I don't even bother calling my "relationship manager, " bec I have never gotten through to her whenever I've tried calling her. These company's take advantage of people and don't even bat an eyelid about it.

This company has kept my $5,000 escrow payment that’s been owed to me for over a year. Every time I call they tell me to expect the check in the mail within a couple weeks. This has been going on for almost a year.

Avoid doing business with them if at all possible.

THE WORST company ever! PREDATORY and CRIMINAL. They tied up my insurance checks for months to the point that the contractor refused to finish the project until payment for past work is rendered. This impasse has delayed the completion of my insurance claim for well over a month with no end in sight. Super long times to do basic banking and never met a time estimate. 98% finished and 60% paid out means myself and the contractor fronted the bulk of the repair cost. Their processes are lame and seemingly unable to budge. Every step "5-8 business days", "7-10 business days" and when you call in after 10, they'll just say, "up to 15 business days". They're defensive on the phone never admitting their processes are deliberately made to slow everything down so they can sit and collect interest on your money while you flounder. One check supposedly issued but never arrived so they put a stop pay and have yet to reissue after 45+ business days/two months. They offer no help in solving the problem. Website is inaccurate and locks you out when they feel like it. If you call they put you on hold for 15-20 mins then hang up on you (happened six times). Four times was told "I'll call you back after I resolve this" and those calls never happened, not once. My loan was purchased by them but if you have any choice stay FAR, FAR AWAY from this predatory company!

The absolute worst mortgage company. I was mailed an overage check last year and when I called to ensure the escrow account had sufficient funds, they advised with confidence, the account had sufficient funds. Fast track a year later, my mortgage rate increased by $998. When I called, they said my escrow account is negative. This is the second time I’ve had the mortgage payment increase. This company does not possess the ability to properly handle mortgages of any scale. Never in my existence have I had a mortgage fluctuate to such extreme much leas fluctuate at all. DO NOT use this company under any circumstances.

I will second the other comments regarding payments to insurance companies and their inability to properly issue payments or handling of the insurance. This company should be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves. Utterly disgusting.

I don't know why they have so many bad reviews. They have worked with me during covid and my husband's illness. One time I got a rude service man. Called back got a great rep.

Worst company ever. They bought my mortgage from chase Bank. I still owe a huge amount. Seems been trying for 15 years and owe more than the house original price
