Seminole Inn reviews
17You have to think of this place as more of a bed and breakfast I guess, my room was very small and while they had a restaurant there I wasn't there during it's hours. I'd go back just for the fun of it, so nothing bad here.
We went here with a group of retirees. We were given a private room. There wasn't enough food prepared and there was a wait between each batch of chicken. The buffet was very limited and mediocre at best. The price was ridiculous. The bill for my husband and myself with tax and tip included (no dessert) was $47.99. Never again.
The room was beautiful. Being that it was an historical inn the room was cozy just not the size you're accustomed to in a more modern hotel. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was very bright and towels were nice. Toiletries were provided and a blow dryer. The only thing we had to figure out was how to make the blow dryer work as the plug you used had to be turned on with the wall switch. The decor in the inn was absolutely beautiful and it seems like none of the historical details had been covered up or stripped away. I would definitely recommend. The wide covered front porch was wonderful for sitting and enjoying coffee while waiting to eat breakfast. I would definitely visit this place again.
The only recommendation is bring an extension cord and a multiple Outlet charging port as Outlets are hard to find in the room.
So disappointing! The building looks so neat and vintage…. And smells that way too. Absolutely no updates it seems since maybe the 1960’s. Our “clean towels” in the room were wet, our sheets had stains on them, our outlets in almost all the walls in the room did not work. The hallways and room smelled of either mold or some type of pungent smell lingering. Try it, walk upstairs from the front lobby and just breathe, you’ll smell it too. When walking from the lobby past cracker the bird, into the side food area, don’t walk in the center of the walkway because you may have toilet water drip through the ceiling and land on your head or plate of food, just like what happened to me. I honestly almost went and slept in my car just because of the state of the place. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Now if they updated it just so it felt cleaner that would be great! You walk into the room you rented, be prepared, it will NOT smell like a clean place. There were also holes in the walls underneath the air conditioner in our room which was allowing lizards to seek asylum. And the carpets were “crunchy. ” The reason for this review and what I’ve put in it is because our whole extended family rented out the whole building besides one room that had dogs barking any time you walked past it. (Room 12) had the dogs. We were excited to all be together and the main topic was “what’s that smell? ” Needless to say, we won’t be staying there again.
Great food, great staff. I love this place! So beautiful! This would be a great wedding venue as well
This is a great local spot! The food is southern style and the Sunday brunch and week day lunches are amazing (that fried chicken!). Viviana is a pleasure to interact with, she really wants your time there to be the best. The art work and photos around the building a property are interesting to look at. And the backyard/garden area is quite relaxing.
I stop by on my drive through town for fried chicken to go. Best around chicken. Staff are pleasant and Viviana is the tops.
Lack of attention and overpriced salad. Still 3 stars as 4 of us went and the other food was okay, but attention to cleaning table was lacking, even had to ask for silverware after we got the food. Strange would you agree?
We went for the Sunday brunch and it has all the florida comfort food. The fried chicken was just divine.
Ideal to step back in time and see what a simpler life looked and felt like. Thanks for keeping heritage available for us to see
Best brunch ever. The grounds are beautiful and the staff are amazing. Make sure to get the waffles during Sunday Brunch
Had the Sunday Brunch Buffet. It was okay nothing extravagant. If looking for omelets or waffles to be made there is usually a wait in line when they get busy. 1 person makes omelets, waffles and cuts meats. Very historic place to look around at the memorabilia. Would I drive out there for the brunch again.probably not.
If you love historic places don't miss this one. The Inn offers great food and great service. I was there 6 months ago and it was delightful. My only issue was it isn't handicapped friendly which is a problem for me as I can't climb stairs. I do recommend this lovely Country Inn. It's like going back in time.
We had a party of 11 for Sunday Brunch a few weeks ago. This place is amazing! Huge breakfast buffet with all breakfast items. A lovely employee making omelets to order. Fresh waffles off the griddle with cinnamon butter, soo good! They also had fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and a lot more. Full salad bar and dessert bar. Great atmosphere, hotel rooms, covered back porch and garden area. We will be going back!
Probably one of the best kept secrets ive found. We had to leave early so didnt get the chance to eat there but the overwhelming hospitality from first phone call to our check in was awesome.
History surrounds you and comes alive at the Seminole Inn (also known as the Seminole Country Inn) in Indiantown, Florida!
There is something quite special about this unique, historic hotel in Martin County, where you can return to the elegance, charm and beauty of Old Florida.
The lovingly restored and maintained inn was constructed in the Mission Revival style by Mr. S. Davies Warfield, president of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad
Long before Mr. Warfield, his railroad and his plans to develop a model city though, the Seminole people had established Indiantown as a trading post. The abundant local wildlife provided excellent hunting and fishing for these early settlers.
Immigrants with European backgrounds later settled here for much the same reasons as the original settlers and later indigenous peoples and tribes fleeing southward following the First Seminole War.
With plans to make Indiantown the southern hub of his rail line, Mr. Warfield extended tracks to West Palm Beach with a stop in Indiantown. He laid out streets, and constructed a rail station, schools and homes.
He also raised the Seminole Inn, which, since May 2006, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Inn’s structure and interior were planned, constructed and crafted with all the grandeur, style and grace that exemplified the Old South.
Who knows what may have happened had the Florida land boom of the 1920s not failed after such a hopeful beginning. Or how things may have turned out differently had Mr. Warfield not died shortly thereafter. These events halted plans to make Indiantown the Seaboard's southern hub, although trains continued to stop at the local depot through the 1960s.
The final blow to development came with the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane, which wreaked significant damage and destruction in the area.
Today, however, why not take the short trip (about an hour from West Palm Brach via the Beeline Highway [SR 710] or a little over two hours from Orlando via Florida’s Turnpike) to the lovely Seminole Inn and experience what Florida once was was like.
Parking is off-street and free at the Seminole Inn. You’ll stroll past a riot of plantings around to the front entrance. At the top of a set of stairs you’ll be delighted to discover a shaded sitting area with welcoming rocking chairs on the front porch.
As you enter through the grand double French doors into the main lobby, you’ll be charmed by the open fireplace and the staircases that wind to the rooms above.
Look up and you’ll appreciate the pecky cypress ceilings. Pecky cypress wood is created by a natural fungus that forms a pattern of pockets in the wood. These attractive pockets are highly sought by artisan woodworkers. This type of wood is also rare, which adds to its value.
Now look down and take pleasure in the lovely hardwood floors beneath your feet. Allow yourself to be drawn up the winding staircase to the sitting room and guest rooms above. All around upstairs and down are furnishings and fixtures of bygone times, including the original solid brass wall fixtures and bronze chandeliers molded to the crest of royalty!
Did I mention royalty? Why, yes! Remember Mr. Warfield? His niece was none other than Wallis Warfield Simpson, who became the Duchess of Windsor. And one of the Inn’s most famous guests!
Enjoy an elegant meal and historic dining experience in the Windsor Room downstairs as you channel the charisma of the compulsively ambitious Mrs. Simpson, who captured the heart of King-Emperor Edward VIII and precipitated a constitutional crisis that led to Edward's abdication. While doing so, just be sure to order the Inn’s famous cobbler!
It is so laid back, quiet, peaceful here. Out back, you can take a refreshing dip in the pool, relax in the Florida sunshine or stroll through the lush gardens! There’s something for just about everyone here. Nearby, you can enjoy activities like world-class bass fishing, hiking and biking, air boating and much more.
I swear this place is everything that Disney isn't. Peaceful quiet old Florida, we come here every Memorial Day weekend.
