Silver Shells Beach Resort & Spa, Destin FL

Very personable atmosphere when staying here in vacation. I’ve met many owners while visiting here, fell in love with it, and bought a place. It’s that wonderful.

A beautiful stay with great amenities. The pool and hot tub are convenient and the poolside cabana was a HIT with young children (air conditioning and a bed for nap time). There is a nearby tiki for a quick lunch or drink. The condo complex itself is maintained and controlled. Would stay again without hesitation!

We stay here every October and have for many years. We absolutely love the resort and the location. I graded the service with a 3 star because of the swimming pool. When first started the coming here the pool was heated and enjoyable. The last 3 years we have brought grand babies with us the pool has been too cold for them to swim in. We were told last year the pool heater was fixed but only to find out it wasn’t. We we more than likely give it another try this coming October. Please have the pool fixed. October can have some cool days but also some warm beautiful days. Thank you!

There were positives and negatives. I will start with the negatives. We found a cockroach in the bathroom and in the garage area of the complex. This definitely made us uncomfortable and worried. We did report this and received a voicemail from a manager stating they were sorry. The sand bar was supposed to be open during our stay and wasn’t due to construction. This was a bummer. The beds were not very comfy and the pillows either. There was only one area to grill out and it was quite a way from our complex. Would have been nice to have one closer. The complex is located on a very busy route making it a challenge to get in and out of traffic.

Positives! Seemed very clean. Absolutely beautiful view of ocean. Nice pool area that was large. Included 2 chairs for beach with our stay. Shower was amazing! Check in simple and check out a breeze. Unit had everything we needed to cook and we didn’t need to buy any toiletries while here except our own shampoo and toothpaste. Close to the beach access and during the time we stayed it was not packed at all making it really nice.

I gave it a 5 star because over all this was great. I’m hoping the roach problem will be taken care of for future users.

Condo is nice but lacks a few amenities. The lightbulbs are awful. We arrived and there was no useable coffee pot. Not enough social information. Need more info for cable. The workout room is awful. No smoking needs to be monitored better and no pets as well.

My family has stayed here for the past 4 years! We absolutely love the resort. We’ve stayed in every building and they have all been very clean & look exactly like the pictures! The staff is wonderful & very friendly! My family has made so many great memories here to last us a lifetime! Thanks compass resorts for managing such a great property! We are coming back in April & then again in June! ️

This is a perfect place to rent at in the Destin area! It's a beautiful resort with a gorgeous pool, a hot tub & right on the beach! We loved our stay and will go back! This place is really clean & taken care of beautifully! We did have an issue with them working on our unit while we were staying there though. We knew they were doing routine work during the off season while we were there but it was a little over the top and what was stated in the info when we booked. That really was a bummer our last day because they had a tarp that blocked our full on ocean view all afternoon and early evening while we were cooking our fresh catch fish meal together. The management did make it right but this level of renovation wasn't communicated. Plus they really needed to have better scheduling of it as the place we rented wasn't even rented out the next week we were leaving so they literally could have waited a couple days to Reno the place we rented & it was super expensive too. We rented the penthouse with rooftop deck, we went all out for our families.

With that said I will still highly recommend this beautiful resort!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and recently, for our 2nd anniversary. Great condos! Full kitchens, great amenities! Nice and quiet. Close to, or on the beach, depending on which building you stay in. Assigned parking in the garage for each unit. Great centralized location to nearby businesses. That's a big plus!
One thing I would change is that if you check in/out outside of normal business hours, the area around the office and lockbox is very dark. That could be a potential safety issue. We had to use a flashlight to see what we were doing.

Too many young kids & non parenting parents! We loved it here, that just changed things

Work being done outside our condo the whole time we were here with the patio blocked off. Interaction with the staff I had was poor they are rude. The hot tub was not monitored in the evening they played loud music every night and stayed in it. Not enough of a hot tub for such a large complex. Workers arrive at 8 or earlier so woke up every morning. Hot tub was closed when we finally did get a chance to get in it. I will spend my money at sterling shores emerald towers or villages of crystal beach. Don't waste your time here. Condo was pretty. And location is not too far from beach. That's the only good thing I can say.

We stayed in St. Lucia 805 & it was nice. Great view. Clean condo. Cheaply furnished and the fridge smelled like fish and the freezer door seal had to be fixed. The beds are horrible! Brings bed topper! There wasn’t a lot of noise. It is a bit of a walk to the ocean and there is no direction on how to get to the beach. It’s tricky to figure out how to navigate to the beach on your own. *Ask at the check in desk for a map and specific directions to the beach and anything that you might want access to. * Someone was able to come on the building PA system and broadcast something about a trash disposal issue. I found this interruption unruly and invasive. The time that was spent to broadcast this loud invasive interruption of an announcement could have been spent reviewing cameras and handling the situation with the individuals in question. There should have been a more professional way to handle that. I wouldn’t stay again at $2k for 6 days.

Stayed in St. Criox 802 …It was okay. It would have been a lot better if it wasn’t for the people below us playing their music and partying. I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t after 10pm and if I didn’t have an 11 month old with a bedtime of 8pm. I’m fine with some noise… it’s another thing to have a constant loud blasting music going on directly underneath you and waking up your baby on the hour. He slept through our roof being redone so that tells you how loud it was. We couldn’t say anything until 10pm. It threw him all off schedule, made him grumpy, it was bad. I called compass resorts one night and the lady said there was nothing she could do about it. Then our very last day we found out about the Guard Shack… they helped us out but compass could’ve told me about them. To add to that during the day we could hear a bunch of construction going on above us… baby slept through it but I couldn’t and it made my husband and I so mad we couldn’t enjoy ourselves in the hotel. Our comforter had a blood stain on it and other stains on it and they didn’t and couldn’t provide a replacement so we switched it with the other one in the other room but they really need to replace the comforter sets. They’re gross. Compass did provide us with clean washed extra pair of sheets and offered a hospital blanket… but a hospital blanket? Come on…. The first day our baby was crawling around and ended up with black knees and black tops of his feet after a couple of minutes. When I say black, i mean straight black… his knees have never been that dirty ever. So I don’t know if the floor was mopped? So i sweeped and mopped it all over again myself. It looked just like the pictures and it was pretty but I think the floors are just getting a sweep in between guests. They do have an awesome pool and a great beach bar that offers food as well. I’ll probably never stay here again but I would’ve really enjoyed it if it wasn’t for what I had stated above. As a whole it just felt kinda gross and more like a party hotel vs.a quiet getaway with sleep. Big plus was the private beach and free chairs and umbrellas. This place just didn’t work well for us. It does have its pros but the cons outweighed them for us.

I absolutely love this place it’s the best place it’s has stuff for kids and teens and adults I loved the swings and I loved the beach and vary good pools and a absolutely clean condo I loved this place we will sure come back one day

We have been staying with Compass resorts for more than 10 years. The experience gets better with each passing year and was perfect the first year!
All I can offer is that if you are planning a visit to the Destin area you would be remiss to not give the multiple properties they offer a solid look! I can not imagine they will not have a property that will exceed all of your expectations! If you have any reservations or questions call them, they are very helpful and informative. You will not get a full court press or sales pitch, they don't need to do that, the properties sell themselves. We plan and look forward to our next visit with them before we leave our current trip! A strong opinion but I believe, After YEARS of continued service and great satisfaction, there are none better than Compass!

Rented through private owner. Grounds were great - parking great - access great - pool great - elevator situation superb. Only negative was to be sure you know you need to purchase chairs/umbrella if you do not book through Compass.

Nice one bedroom condo, right across from the Beach and within a few miles of all activates (jet ski, parasailing etc).

Our condo was very nice. Great view from the 3rd floor. Beach area was well kept. My only beef was that they put the beach chairs to close to each other. I'm slim and had to turn sideways to pass. Nice big pool area. Cabana on the beach made good drinks and served a really good burger.
