Society Table, St Pete Beach FL

We left hungry. We've been visiting the Don Cesar for 20 years. The new owners have ruined what was once a historical, beautiful and fun place for our family and friends. Every where you look now, you see their bottom line. My husband and I had dinner last night and ordered a few items to accompany a $41.00 grouper main dish. The fish was old, small, discolored and overcooked. Any chef could see the fish was bad before and after cooking. Our server asked if he could get us anything else, but we were so disappointed in the experience, we decided to leave. We found it comical that after everything our server asked us if we wanted to see the dessert menu. At minimum, a manager should have come to the table and offered an apology and a complimentary dessert or beverage. That never happened. Remember the Don Cesar is now about the obvious focus on revenue, not quality or service. We walked upstairs to one of our favorite classy bars in St. Pete to find the long-stunning wood bar and chandeliers gone. Replaced with non-de-script, poor interior design. All we can say, is don't waste your money or time. There are many other great restaurants and resorts in St. Pete Beach.

Writing this review as I wait over 20 minutes for drinks. Restaurant is empty. Bar is empty. Unacceptable and no excuse for such slow service.

Continuing review after dinner and what a horrible experience. By far slowest service I’ve ever experienced. Chicken was dry. Steak was full of fat. Calamari was cold. Drinks didn’t show up until food was served.

Dirty plates sat on table through entire dinner. Water glasses remained empty through our time at this joke of an establishment.

Will not be back.

Unfortunately our dining experience was about as bad as you can imagine. Definitely would not recommend; however the food was absolutely amazing, hence the two star. Definitely recommend the scallops, red snapper and goat cheese fritters.

I would definitely recommend the lobby bar. The service and drinks were amazing. The live music was also a nice touch.

Needed a private place for a family gathering and this one was very good! Food was a bit bland but service and atmosphere were great!

Great service. Food was subpar. Some constructive criticism:

Proteins need to be freshly prepared. The grilled shrimp on my salad had clearly been grilled at least an hour before the dish was served. Same with the pork belly, which came out cold.

Roasted chicken was very dry and all bones.

Oysters, while not bad themselves, should be chilled and served over ice. At $4+ each (for gulf oysters, by the way), they should be properly chilled and not served over shredded lettuce. Mignonette was decent though.

In sum, could use some improvement. Bartender was great though, not his fault.

Mer. We went for my birthday which is around Christmas. I would think that given the location of the restaurant (The Don Cesar) the food would have been better. The waitress was sweet, but she was frazzled and seemed rushed despite a nearly empty place. The food took almost an hour again despite a nearly empty restaurant. I got the grilled chicken sandwich with gluten free bread. It was nearly flavorless and the bread was overtoasted and hard as a rock. I got the fruit on the side and when I finished it I realized there was hair in it. I ordered hot herbal tea and there was no warning that the cup itself was also hot so I burned my fingers. There was something pink and floating in my water. It was not a great experience. I was pretty bummed out.

Extremely pleasant and attentive service. The eggs benedict was perfectly cooked, overall great place to start the day.

Sat at Rowe bar got charge society room prices. Felt ripped off. Society table was full of people due to a function so they took us to Rowe bar. Didn't realize until the end the slipped us society menu not Rowe. Kinda felt strange. Service was great, place beautiful. Not going back.

Ate here several times and have never been disappointed in the food! On the Contrary, it's Always Phenomenal! Staff is always helpful and Courteous! Highly Recommend! And we LOVE sitting outside and watching the sunset!

The waitress made our anniversary very enjoyable. The appetizers and entrees were fantastic. However, the cheesecake was the best that we have had in years!

Had a reservation for dinner on Sunday. Beach was pretty empty but there is no public parking nearby. This means you must park at the Don. $27 + tax for parking - no validation or discount for dining at the restaurant.
Many other options in the beach with better food and parking.
Unless you are staying at the resort, I would skip this place.

Excellent food & service. We really enjoyed our visit to the Don Cesar. Parking prices are a bit ridiculous, but otherwise it was a lovely evening.

Had dinner here while staying at the hotel. The food wasn't bad and I really loved the goat cheese fritters. Service was a bit slow but im wondering if they're understaffed like most places now. Nice sitting outside with the sun setting.

Seriously, the photo says it all. Parking is more than $33 for dinner. Dinner is just okay with slow service. Welcome to "fine dining Florida", please prepare to lower your standards.

Food wasn't anything to write home to. The server spilled beer at the table and never came back to clean it up. We were late for a reservation and tried to call to let them know. Never answered the phone. Wouldn't recommend and won't be returning.
