Somerset Apartments, Largo FL

Unfortunately I can't leave less than ONE STAR. I saw the bad reviews and questioned them when moving in. I was told by **NAME REDACTED** that the bad reviews were being left by tenants who hadn't paid their rent and were salty about being kicked out when new management took over to clean up complex. I was shown an honestly subpar apartment but it was clean and decorated nice. I was then shown an empty apartment that was also surface clean. I then received a VIDEO message walkthrough for my move-in. Moved in and to make a long story short, lost EVERYTHING I owned and am still dealing with the effects of being exposed to toxic mold. YES, I HAVE PROOF of testing and ABC News ALSO aired this story. You can search Largo Mom Mold on YouTube and the interviews will come up.

I will include a few of my photos taken and when I asked about the smell and the black on the floors I was told, the last tenant had a motorcycle and brought it inside. I was also told I needed to clean better, "In Florida, you use Fabuloso"

There has been NO ATTEMPT to make this situation right, No attempt to replace my permanently ruined and lost items. There was no attempt to even as much as return my deposit. Moving from out of state, at Christmas time ALL of my children Christmas presents, beds, clothes, ALL of our Belongings brought here were ruined.

To explain briefly, Things were exponentially made worse when I kept complaining about the floors being so dirty, (see photo included). They finally agreed to just replace the floors but since I had already moved in I would need to be in the apartment at the time of replacement of the vinyl floor. The flooring crew came in and tore up the floor while I was in the apartment and started scrubbing the black spots off. These spores were everywhere in the apt and creating breeding nightmare, see the dollar bill in photos.

Again, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your due diligence wherever you are considering renting. And please remember if a man shakes your hand and tells you this is the safest place for your family - RUN! And RUN FAR.

I agree with the negative comments on here. The leasing office staff does not care about the residents at all. They constantly lie to you, saying things like they can't fix things because they only have 2 maintenance workers, and they have at least 4. I asked a week ago for the managers name and they refused to give me the real name and only gave me a nickname. I called again today and I was giving a completely different name. When you call with concerns about your apartment or on the property, the staff could care less. My apartment was left unlocked by pest control and I called to complain and they only told me, oh I will let the manager know. Horrible! The company that owns this property does not care either so why should the staff

There are so many things wrong with this complex. The roaches never go away even w pest control, a neighboring complex tenants come to the pool in the middle of the night sometimes til 4 am. One time they trashed the laundry room and sprayed the fire extinguisher in the pool.they are extremely loud also. Somerset put up a taller fence but it's not locked so they still do it. The cops are called on a daily basis sometimes multiple times. Loud fighting neighbors outside. Laundry room is disgusting, never cleaned and the washers barely clean your clothes. New office manager is not friendly at all, almost rude.updated units are just used stainless steel appliances from God knows where. There are rust spots and dents on them not new appliances! 1 drawer in the kitchen and 4 cupboards. They have what they call a pantry it's really like a closet w no light and you have to walk into it as the shelves are only on the one side. Bathroom is in the bedroom so anyone that wants to use the bathroom has to walk through your bedroom. I can't believe the plumbing issues I had. The 2 upper units garbage disposal was coming up in my sink and soaking my kitchen w stinky ground up food from other people. I had to put down towels when I went to work so it wouldn't ruin my table or go into the living room finally fixed but no offer of any compensation. 2nd time there was a pipe leaking in my wall and flooded my closet they fixed it and gave me a industrial fan to dry the carpet also no compensation. Upstairs neighbors sink would drip into my ceiling light fixture. Dishwasher hose was disconnected and leaked into my neighbor's apartment it took them a week to replace it. Tried to switch to frontier for my wifi but couldn't because the wiring went through another apartment. Absolutely not worth what they charge. $800 would be more appropriate

I’m leaving this apartment complex. The place isn’t worth the price. They have a towing company tow your cars so be weary how you park. If you’re on the line your car can be towed. No joke. Management was no help. The only staff member I have had a positive interaction while living there for two years is with Dontay. Best maintenance personnel! So professional, pleasant and all round great person. It seems like he is the only person that cares about the renters that live there. Will miss his hard working ethic.

The office people are great they answer all my questions and are very friendly. The maintenance guys omg lol they are funny as hell and fix stuff so quickly and acknowledge you by your name not just a number. At my old apartment had to wait fir weeks not here they fix as soon as they can

I lived in Somerset until June 30th 2023.   I was lied to and scammed!

April 2023 my Job transferred me to Sarasota,   I immediately contacted the building office and Spoke to Rachel and Michelle to let them know verbally that I will be leaving at the end of my lease in June. I explained that I'm only home on weekends due to work demands in Sarasota and needed proper guidance in cases like mine . Rachel, who was very sweet, said she will make a note of my notice and informed Michelle.

On my weekends back to Largo I stopped in the office weekly to verify that all is well with me moving out the building and whatever else is needed to ensure a smooth transition. Michelle assured me they are aware of it and nothing else is needed.

During my weekly visits to my apartment,   I noticed my unit was infested with roaches which I again reported in person with no actions except excuses.

In May an apartment opened up in Sarasota which I took as my lease was up in June, to not break my lease I paid 2 rents for a month.   I went into the office at Somerset to drop off my written notice. The guy in there (not sure of his name) validated that he knew I was leaving.    Again as meticulous as I am, I confirmed with him if I gave sufficient notice, he said YES!        He proceeded to say, he will leave it on Michelle's desk.   It  was almost a month later when it was dated. I made him aware I gave verbal notice in April and he said they are aware of it but need it signed. I called Michelle the following business day and she said I was good with the notice part of it,  again.

Somerset Largo called and advised me that I will be getting a refund on my security deposit and all is well.

OCTOBER of 2023, I received a notice I owed $1300.00 because I did not give sufficient notice (excuse me). I immediately called the office and left a message for Michelle to please return my call as I am distraught as this caused me severe anxiety and distress. I then explained my situation to the new property manager and she advised that Michelle is the one who put on the fee. I asked to talk to Rachel and she said she was no longer there. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES. I will take legal action with Somerset as most tenants there know my situation and witnessed me going to the office on Saturdays to make sure I am within compliance.

MY 2 YEARS THERE WAS LIVABLE BECAUSE OF THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE I MET THERE AND DONTE WHO IS A GEM BUT THE ROACH INFESTATION THAT WAS ALWAYS PROMISED TO BE DEALT WITH WAS NEVER HANDLED

I am still waiting to get a call back. THE INCOMPETENCE & UNPROFESSIONALISM OF THE BUILDING OFFICE COST ME $1300.00 STAY AWAY. This situation has definitely affected my mental health, my faith in honest business practices and trust in human beings to do the right thing.

Dante is extremely helpful and always gets it done. Easiest way to get things done in your apartment when it comes to maintenance! A+

0 stars! Well One Star because 0 is even too much! (AND CANT LEAVE JUST ONE) This place is INFESTED WITH CRUMBY PEOPLE. THE GOOD ONES JUST PAY 1600$ PER 1000 SQUARE FEET AND FORCED TO PUT UP WITH THEIR CRUMBY PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. MOLD IN EVERY ROOM, ZERO RESPECT AND UPFRONTNESS FROM ALL EMPLOYEES OF THE PROPERTY GROUP. WHAT. SHAMEFUL WASTE OF MONEY.

Donte has been the most reliable and efficient maintenance man for the last year. Always on time, gets the job done perfectly, and will offer to help with more! He’s well known around here for how great himself and his work are.

Donte is the only maintenance supervisor I'd like to have, he does a great job! He's fast and makes sure everything is done correctly and efficiently. He's a great worker and definitely one of the best maintenance guy around! Thank you Donte for all that you do!

Dontay the mantience supervisor is awesome alway working and taking care of the residents anytime I have a problem he does his best to get it done quickly and efficiently he is one of the reason I've been here for almost 5 years

Yep, the other reviews aren’t kidding about the office being unreliable. The office is supposed to be open Saturdays from 10-5, but to be safe we even made an appointment to tour a unit at 12: 15. We drove all the way there to find that the office is locked. Nobody would answer the phone. As a last resort we drove around the complex for a while to see if a staff member was out and about somewhere. What a disrespectful waste of our time.

Update: to save face they replied to this comment about making things right but still have not returned any of our calls or done anything to “make things right”. A company that only cares about how they LOOK as opposed to actually providing quality and reliable service? Shocker.

My partner and I scheduled a tour for this apartment complex and traveled all the way from NEW YORK to visit. Our appointment was confirmed and set for 11: 30 upon an early arrival we were met with a rude representative who said "I can't help you, reschedule. " This is no way to run a business and is ultimately very disrespectful to someone who made a significant travel to this location and we will take our business elsewhere.

The property manager and the leasing office helped us work through the renting process. We appreciate all their help.

Watch out for predatory towing, they'll tow for parking on a white line in the middle of the night. But the gunshots are free. Same night they tow, someone then stole the neighbors kids bikes that were locked up on balconies! This is no place to live. Run!

Absolutely the worst apartment complex in the Largo/Clearwater/St Petersburg area. DO NOT contact the representatives of this complex. They are extremely unreliable, disrespectful, and unable to process requests and payments. They WILL send your rent payments to a collections office without notice and without due process. They also lock you out of your payment account after departure and do not allow you to cancel your renters insurance. They are also deceitful when presenting utility payments and maintenance services. The apartment complex itself is not maintained, and the washer services are nearly always out of service.
