Sonny's BBQ, Gainesville FL

I love BBQ but this location is not recommended. Their meat is full of fat and when you sell by the pound, I'm likely to think that's why they don't get rid of the majority of the fat when preparing the food. This place already has quite a few bad reviews and while I'm a fan of social media teams trying to right their wrong, this place just has the same copy/paste answer to every customer complaint starting with "Oh, no! This doesn't sound alright by us. ". I'll be looking for another BBQ place and so should you.

I love this place! 2nd time in the week that we come to eat here! It's one of my favorites BBQ places!

Would've given 'em one-star if it weren't for the thick mixed cutie in the kitchen. At least they got one thing right

10/10 best experience ever! Dylan went above and beyond to serve us and even though you guys were out of red neck egg rolls, Dylan was able to lighten the mood and suggest better alternatives. 100/10 would come back for just Dylan. Also he’s handsome.

Great service but was out of some of the things my daughter really wanted for her birthday dinner. But the waitress was awesome.

Tried the mixed barbecue plate with all there sauces and it was top notch. Highly recommend this barbecue restaurant.

Two days ago I ordered by phone and they told me it would be ready in 25-30mins. I ordered @ 7: 15pm and I arrived @ 7: 45pm. Once I got to the window to ask for my pickup order the light skin girl said to me that she hadn't even made all of my order yet. I didn't get my order until after 8pm. When I finally got my order, I check it and they didn't even make my order right! Chicken breast sandwich comes with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and I got a piece of chicken breast on a bun. She gave me the sides in another container. My other chicken sandwich was cold? I never asked for cold. I won't be spending my hard earned money here anymore unless I hear some changes are made. This isn't the first time this has happened!

Great service. Food is good. Would like salad bar to come back but I guess that's a sign of the times - less for more.

I've been frequenting this location for thirty years. Never have any issues. Friendly waitstaff and always great food. Eat here or you lose!

It was a little busy due to being after a Gator game, but the food was great and the service amazing!

Been going to the one on Waldo Rd since it opened in late 60's. Consistently good and nice portions. Great staff. I do miss smelling the smoke and cooking on site like they once did. My heart goes out to Sonny and family for their recent loss.

This place is getting worse by the day! Getting orders wrong almost every time for take out! Check your order before leaving!

Okra was great the but smoked wings were burnt ribs were tough and sides were ok. It's really a hit or miss at this restaurant.

The bracket grilled cheese hit the spot! The pulled pork egg rolls we also yummy. We were a party of 5 adults, and with beers, our bill was only $65. Delicious and won't break the bank.
