Sonny's BBQ, Melbourne FL

So happy that we came here. Staff was really nice and courteous. Service was really good. Food comes out really fast. Everything we had was delicious. The specials they have nightly are a great deal. Restaurant is clean throughout and the bathroom is stocked up and clean. Our server was fabulous. Food was delightful and delicious. We really enjoyed our first time at Sonny's.

Good old fashioned BBQ. A good variety at reasonable prices. You can’t go wrong when you go to Sonny’s.

The hostess took too long to seat us and the restaurant was empty (we were already going to leave when she arrived) and she didn't seem friendly. But apart from that, the waiter was very good and so was the food.

Last couple of times I was let down. Chunks of fat instead of meat. Basic bbq.
Just not for me.

A hearty "Meh". Food was "ok" portions were small-ish prices were high. I wont go out of my way to eat here again.

My wife was excited to try Sonny's since we eat out occasionally close to this area. The restaurant smelled great, was clean, the server was attentive. The BBQ egg rolls were OK, and the iced tea tasted good.

Then the main course came. We had the Sonny's sampler. The meats tasted like nothing was seasoned, and every meat was dry. All of the sides (bbq beans, coleslaw, and cornbread) tasted excessively sweet (and we like sweet BBQ to an extent). All of the sauces tasted close to the same and overly sugary.

Some folks may enjoy their BBQ with an extra cup or two of sugar, but this wasn't our thing.

Great price for the sliced pork sandwich, amazing salad, and the BBQ chicken was moist and delicious. Definitely in and out quick, so perfect for a lunch break place.

Pulled pork is great and good location. Kevin’s the best server and very accommodating at late hours.

Being from Florida Sonny’s has always been a favorite of mine. We were military and everytime we visited home we’d have multiple meals from a Sonny’s while home. Fast forward 23 years and we moved near this location — within 5 minutes! I was absolutely giddy! For the first year it was wonderful — we’d take out once or twice a week and I’d always say I’m so glad to be home.

However, this past year it has changed. My grilled chicken started being grizzly and tough and odd shaped. I asked the waitress and she said they changed suppliers. Fries were cold and cooked in old grease and brownish Tried it a few more times and it wasn’t as good so we started going less.

Then this past week my kiddo was home from college and wanted to go so we went. Chicken piece was so small. Garlic bread small and not the same— heck it was like ones you buy in the frozen food areas and make at home. And the fries were not their normal ones either— much smaller in size (but they did taste good— just different) My husband and my kiddos pulled chicken was so dry and chewy they said it was more like chicken jerky.: (: (: (

So so so sad.

Service was good. Waitress was friendly but food just isn’t the same as it used to be.: (: (: (

Dinner here is amazing! Great food good people with waitresses that are kind, fast and very caring. I don't believe there is a better Sonny's around! Lindsay was or server today. She was amazing! I would absolutely refer anyone to this establishment. The whole hog is very good!

We’ve visited Sonny’s for carry out twice since moving to the Southern US. Perry, GA and Melbourne / Viera, FL. I’ll be writing a combined review for these locations.

Sonny’s for both dine-in and carry out seem to be very different experiences and I can only speak to the carry-out options.

The staff at Sonny’s are helpful and well-trained. One of our visits was coincidentally on Father’s Day. The place was hoppin! Everyone seemed to move fast and communicate well to get customers served as quickly and as accurately as possible.

The salads are crisp and fresh and made to order. There are protein add-on options and a meat-free option, if you have dietary needs. Smoked chicken seems to be a safe and tasty bet, but I’d recommend adding it to a salad without BBQ sauce, so you can add sauce and dressing to your liking. There are several BBQ sauce styles and they offer standard salad dressing options as well.

The garlic bread is really good so order extra if you’re considering it. You can have a sandwich served on this unique crunchy vessel or on a standard bun. Either way, you’ll be pleased. The pork, pulled chicken and brisket are skillfully smoked and seasoned. This is seriously delicious meat!

The fries and beans are the only sides we’ve tried and they are pretty standard. The monster sized chocolate chip cookies are better you microwave them for about 10 seconds to soften them. Otherwise, they’re a bit crunchy.

The dine-on menu is different from what’s offered online. This can be confusing, so it’s best to order in person at the counter, or in drive-thru to get the full view of offerings.

Good BBQ, service is a little so sometimes, but we keep coming back. It's good BBQ, very consistent. My grandson is always happy with the baby back ribs and he's really picky.

The waitress, s should have to wear their hair tied up. It’s discusting that their running around hair flying and constantly flipping it back. It’s a health issue.

Frequently eat inside. Went to the drive thru tonight fir a change. Nit a good move. Helpings are poor in comparison. Quality and quantity. We ordered 3 dinners, all three were below standard. Sandwiches may be different. Never had anything negative to say before. This locations drive-thru should be avoided. Go inside.

I’ve been eating at Sonny’s for many years and it seems that in the last two years this place has gone completely down hill in terms of their food quality and taste. Over the span of about two years I’ve gone in to give my favorite bbq joint a chance and each time I’ve wasted my money. I usually order the all you can eat ribs and I’ll substitute for different meats. I had the sweet and smoky ribs, pulled and sliced pork, and the beef brisket and all of it comes out with no smoke flavor, cold, and just tastes not fresh. It sucks because at one time you could get some pretty good bbq here and now that has changed. My advice is if you’re looking for decent bbq restaurant then go over to Dustin’s or woodys.

This place deserves more than 5-stars. Samantha took care of our requests and the BBQ brisket was so awesome. Sweet tea delicious!

Waited and was greeted by 2 different people someone will be right with you sign says wait to be seated. Man walks straight in sits down at bar and the 3rd time we are told that she takes his order. We left am so disappointed.
