I've been going to Dr. Huk for several years. He is always very thorough and takes the time to discuss any questions I have. I'd say he's got kind of a 'Mr. Rogers vibe'.

Certain other reviewers should keep certain things in mind before flying off the handle:

1. If you do not have insurance or your insurance doesn't cover certain services, doctor appointments are going to be costly, especially specialists. This usually applies to ANY specialist you go to. That's just how the healthcare system works.

1.5. Narcotic medication can also be SUPER EXPENSIVE without insurance. The medication I take is $450, my insurance brings it down to $20. If you need someone to blame, blame Big Pharma.

2. Due to new laws that passed in July 2018, you are now legally required to attend an appointment EVERY TIME you need the doctor to write you a new prescription for a controlled substance (i.e. Any kind of "narcotic" medication). This one you can blame Rick Scott for, not your doctor.

I have been taking my Husband to Dr Huk for a few years now. He knows his pharmacology, he always calls me back regarding my concerns. He is a no nonsense physician who has professional boundaries which is needed when treating behavioral health patients, especially early RX refills. Absolutely this should be forbidden and some physicians will do this and it is not benefiting the patient. I take up a lot of time with questions, I also applaud he answers them all. Anyone who posts that any Dr.is in it for the money shame on you. We all work and for money, as I. Physicians reimbursement has take a terrible turn over the years as 2.my husband is a MD from YALE, and now a patient. We know first hand and I do not buy into anyone who makes allegations against Drs.who r in it for the money (that I use). Yes there may be some that are bad apples, I do my homework, I look at their medical school, where they did their residency and schools and hospitals affiliated with. He is not a pill mill Dr.or a Dr.that will leave you hanging. He is not one that can spend an hour or 30 minutes if he is just managing your RX. He is in it to do what he loves and makes an income like the rest of us.

DO NOT by any means visit this Doctor. Dr Huk is a con man, not a Doctor. We took our 6yr old special needs son to see Dr Huk yesterday. Our son has had behavioral issues the last 6 months, and we wanted to get him some help. Dr Huk was highly recommended by our sons Doctor, and by a family friend. We made an appointment over a month ago. Dr Huks office made us pay $100 to secure the appointment (That should have been our first red flag). I have never had a Doctor make me pay a deposit a month an advance to make an appointment. We take him in yesterday, Dr Huk talked to him and his mom for about 30 min and then told her that there are several different medications that he could put him on that might help. He recommended one and gave him a prescription for it. We took the prescription to 4 different pharmacies, none could fill it. The last pharmacy we took it to told us the company that makes the drug is no longer in business and has merged with another company. We were informed they no longer make the drug. We called the so called Doctor back, and were told to take it to his "Recommended Pharmacy". We took the prescription in and the pharmacist indeed had it, but told us he only had enough to last less than a month. We asked what to do after that, and were told " We will have to see at that time if I can refill it". On top of that he wanted almost $500 for the prescription. We called the Doctor back. We asked if he could prescribe one of the other medications we spoke about the day before. We explained to him that we did not want to put our son on a medication that has been discontinued and would only be able to take for a few weeks. We were told that the only way he can change the prescription is to make another appointment, and to pay another $300 office visit. Keep in mind, less than 24 hours before he told us there were several medications he would recommend, and to try this one first. As far as I'm concerned this Doctor is a total scam artist. What kind of Doctor prescribes you a medication they know is not available, and then forces you to come back in, pay another $300 the next day just to prescribe a different medication that we spoke about the day before. It is very hard for me to believe that Dr Huk did not know this before writing the prescription. I have personally called his office several times today to see if I can bring him back the prescription, have him write a new one, or just refund us for the visit. He has yet to make an attempt to return my call. I will be reporting him to the Florida Board of Medicine, and Florida State Attorney General so they can investigate his shady practices. Will also be calling my bank to dispute the charges for his visit. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. There are a lot of good Doctors in town. Dr Huk is not one. I hope this man and his employees sleep well knowing they are taking advantage of a family with special needs child. All we wanted to is to get our son help. Not be taken advantage of.
