If the hospital is for-profit and is owned by UHS, the largest chain of privately-owned psychiatric hospitals in the country, it is hell. I was mainly abused by Bartholomew Vereb Jr. (d. 2019), and was treated as if I was a lab animal for four seperate stays. There were a few techs who cared, but most of them were just complete a-holes. This facility has used potent antipsychotics, such as Zyprexa (olanzapine), specifically the Relprevv injection (colloquially known as "booty juice" as it is a deep intramuscular injection commonly into the buttock) as a punishment to keep patients quiet. The techs are paid pennies based on UHS's billions of dollars in revenue. They claim patients would see their psychiatrist every day. He specifically singled my out of a unit with 16 beds in it. A commonality in UHS facilities across the country are holding patients who voluntarily admitted themselves against their will to maximize insurance payments. They also doctor admission records to make it look more severe on paper to fill a bed. Also, intake counselors are incentivized to fill beds to full capacity even if the patient did not need to be admitted. I also feel my rights under the ADA were being violated. Whenever we would get audited by an agency, we were told to keep our mouths shut. The facts are, you need to do your research on these facilities. If you are looking for immediate help, use All Children's Hospital if in Tampa and AdventHealth for Children if in Central Florida, also, CALL 911 or 988 if in a severe psychiatric crisis. This facility is a Baker Act accepting facility, as well.

Ive never written a review for anywhere before but I wanted to share my experience here. Hi I’m Chester I am 15 years old and I've struggled with depression and anxiety since I was 11
I was Baker Acted and sent to this facility in September and I stayed here for 5 days, Before I was transported from the ER to Suncoast I checked the reviews and to be honest they scared me a lot, but I’m happy to say this facility has saved my life.
I stayed in Treasure Island and all the nurses and patients were amazing, it was the first time in so long I felt actually understood
I’m in a better place now and while I still have some downs I can say I’m healing
Thank you to all the staff at Suncoast
P. S the corn bread in the cafeteria is incredible I miss it

Please for the love of god don’t send yourself or child to this facility. I have long-term psychological issues and other traumas from my stay at this place when I was 15 years old. (I am 20 years old now) I maybe had 2 two meaningful conversations with staff but other than that nothing. Doctors speak to you for maybe 3 minutes, and “group” was a joke. One nurse in particular was extremely rude to my family during visiting hours, and the treatment of children starting at 9 years old and above was absolutely disgusting. I understand there are certain protocols when dealing with people with mental health issues, but the ones I witnessed just were not right.

I wish I could put 0 zero stars but they don’t give us the option, this place has the most disrespectful and unprofessional doctors and nurses. They don’t know how to communicate and would rather act like they’re the parents instead of doing their job to get your child back home, even going as far as arguing with the parents over releasing the child or hanging up. While our child was in their custody they gave him some sort of shot over him simply talking but called and told us that he was being combative as an excuse for giving him the shot. If you care about your child’s well-being and getting the proper help they need do not take them here, they need to be shut down so no other child or parent has to deal with the abuse, negligence, and utter disrespect between the doctors and nurses of this establishment.

If you love your child don’t ever take them to this place. I recently had the unfortunate experience of seeking healthcare services from Suncoast Behavioral that displayed an appalling level of unprofessionalism and failed to deliver the standard of care I expected. It is disheartening to recount my encounter with this healthcare provider, but I feel it is crucial to share my experience to help others make informed decisions. Not only they failed to provide the services my daughter needed, they also neglected her (gained 60 + pounds in less than 6 months which caused another health issue for her). There was no supervision at all times which also caused a legal issue for my daughter after getting in trouble with another peer … and the staff didn’t have the proper training for dealing with kids that have behavioral problems. In my opinion they only care about collecting money from the insurances … I’m looking into options to expose this place … also writing a complain to the Florida health department.

This post is a response to two previous reviews of Suncoast Behavioral: one by “Ken, ” and the other by “Hope. ” The observations expressed in this post in no way represent Suncoast Behavioral, and administration of this facility have plausible deniability regarding its content. These remarks are my effort to defend an excellent pharmacist with whom I had the privilege of working for several months and who does not deserve the character assassination in these two reviews.

Ken & Hope—if in fact those are your names! —I don’t know who you are, but I condemn your outrageous posts! Just a few observations:
• Regarding Hope’s review…. I’ve worked for a number of behavioral facilities, including Suncoast Behavioral, and as a nurse, I n-e-v-e-r referred parents to the pharmacists to discuss medications. Medication education is the responsibility of the nurses, and any further questions are referred to the attending physician…. NOT the pharmacist. It’s clear you have misrepresented yourself as the parent of a patient which means your accusations are made under false pretenses. In other words…YOU ARE A LIAR!
• Based on the writing style and grammatical errors in the reviews—especially Hope’s-I’d say that English is not the writers’ first language. Interesting that the reviews have this in common…almost makes one wonder if it’s the same person…
• “Ken” and “Hope”: If either of you had a shred of decency or self-respect and you TRULY had a problem with this pharmacist, you would have approached her directly, IN PRIVATE! Instead, in a cowardly fashion, you published slanderous, vindictive accusations on the web for everyone in the community to view! And to what end? ! The reviews certainly have nothing to do with patient care at Suncoast Behavioral! Undoubtedly this was motivated by a personal vendetta against this individual, though I cannot imagine why! When I worked at this facility, I had the opportunity to work with this pharmacist for several months, and I found her to be professional, competent, and her behavior to be above reproach. The very idea that she would gush to a patient family member on the phone about being “in love” with one of the doctors is inconceivable and utterly absurd!

“Ken” & “Hope, ” your reviews were intended to heap shame and humiliation on this pharmacist, but all the shame and humiliation falls on YOU! And I assure you…if I can see through this infantile subterfuge, others have as well. I have reported your reviews as bullying and have asked Google to remove them. If you have any decency, you will retract them yourselves.

My child has has been through a baker act 8 times in the last year and a half. This is the FIRST facility who actually listened to the issues and I could not be more thankful. I wish more mental health facilities were like this one!

Julia needs to leave her marriage issues at home. Stop telling everyone your in love with the Dr.there who is also married. Work and talk with your husband!
Cheating is horrible and gossiping to co workers is really getting old. So annoying
Hire adults, not immature Pharmacist!

All the pharmacists ever talks about is being in love with another doctor to everyone and she's married. That's really not a good thing to do. She shouldn't spread that information around the clinic. Especially since they're both married I Call to discuss my child's medication which I will not reveal the name and she proceeded to go on and on like I was her best friend and talk. About that kind of find out she tells everyone that should be discussed and taken care of very unprofessional

I want to thank the Staff and Jamie for going above and beyond when it came to my daughters care. I had alot of concerns. If you stay proactive in your child's care it all works out. I know this experience was an eye opener for my kid and she learned a lot. My daughter said the staff was very kind and friendly. Thanks again for taking the time to call me everyday about my child. I am very grateful she is safe and home and in a better state of mind.
