Today was my first shooting experience. Jim was so kind, knowledgeable and explained everything to me in a way I could understand. He was patient in showing me the techniques of holding a gun and shooting which made me feel so comfortable. Being my first experience, I had a little anxiety but he eased it with being so calm! James Dowler, who teaches the Survival Fittest Pistol Courses, is an excellent firearms instructor. I wanted to learn how to be a responsible and safe gun owner for self-defense. Although I have never shot a real gun in my life, James made it really easy for me to learn and be comfortable with a gun. He is patient and a great teacher of firearm skills. I highly recommend James and his piston training courses for your learning how to use a gun safety and responsibly. The world is clearly getting more dangerous, so the time has never been better than now to learn how to own, carry and use a gun for self-defense purposes. The online training program is outstanding, and Ryan has done a great job of breaking up the online program into small, manageable chunks. This allows you to start, pause, stop, and go back and review with ease. The course content is detailed, yet understandable and won’t put you to sleep. Unless you’ve grown up on gun ranges around a family of gun owners, you should take this course.

The in-person training with James was fantastic. He is very easygoing and extremely knowledgeable. He gave me his full attention and adjusted his training to my firearms experience … which was zero. His level of expertise made me feel comfortable and made the learning process much easier.

While at the firing range, I talked with multiple range employees. Several made the comment to me that James was one of the best trainers at the range and an all-around good guy. This was a seal of approval from people who spend a lot of time around firearms and firearms instructors. You can’t get much better approval than that.

As I stated at the beginning of this review, I highly recommend Survival of the Fittest to improve your skills and confidence in handling firearms.
