I am very disappointed with the customer service at Suzan Merrick Saloon.
When I entered the saloon, I was nicely greeted, but as soon as I started talking I started feeling discriminated due to my accent. MELISSA THE HAIR SYLIST, did not ask me the NORMAL AND POLITE questions: How are you? Good to see you! How was your. NOTHING! NOT EVEN A SMILE!
I got an appointment as a gift for my sister that came from another state and wanted to do some highlights on her hair.
My initial appointment on Saturday 2 pm, was canceled, saying that the stylist Melissa was sick and had to go home. It was scheduled for Tuesday 1pm.
Due to some other appointments I was not going to make on time, so I called to see if it was still possible for me to go, since I was going to be late. I was told that it would be OK, so I got there about 30 minutes late, however when I got there was no one available and the service could not be done.
It made me waste my time and gas, I was willing to tip extra for not be able to honor the original appointment time, and I called to make sure I could still go.
The people did not care and the hair stylist Melissa went out for “lunch time”. I am very disappointed and I am started feeling discriminated again! NO MORE SUZAN MERRICKS! And MELISSA HAIR STYLIST!

Becky is the best! I have lived in four different states and she is hands down the best hairstylist! I cried when I had to leave Jacksonville Beach, FL and move somewhere else. You will have an awesome haircut with her every time! =)

Jami is brilliant. She brought my curls back to life! This was my first deva cut and I could not be happier.

Got a Deva haircut by Melissa and she did a great job! Listened when I said I wanted to keep my length and was amazing at explaining tips/tricks to have my hair look its best. I would highly recommend her to anyone with curly hair! Thanks for the awesome cut Melissa:)

I drove 2 hours to Jacksonville for a Devacut and Jami didn’t disappoint! It was great! I highly recommend her for anyone who has natural curly hair! Jami asked what I had in mind, then cut my hair, then toile and washes my hair explaining the products to me as she put them in my hair! I’m VERY PLEASED with the way my hair turned out! Thank you Jami! I will be bribing back 2 hours for a haircut again!

I'm sure it's great if you can actually get a service done. I moved to Jacksonville 2 years ago and haven't found or trusted anyone to do my hair during that time. I'm black and white, with thick curly hair to the middle of my back and highlights that have been grown out for at least 2 years. I started researching deva cut stylists one weekend and after reading a good amount of reviews I decided to call Susan Merricks. I called on a Sunday and left a voicemail since most people know salons are typically closed Sundays and Mondays. Called back on Tuesday because I wanted to lock down an appointment since I was excited about finally finding a place, and I was told to call back after noon since the women who do the cuts didn't come in until that time. Called back, no answer. Called repeatedly that day and still no answer. Called again the Saturday after and left another voicemail letting them know my voicemail hadn't been returned the week prior. Got a call back from Jamie on Tuesday who gave me a rundown of how things work, pricing, scheduling, etc.but since they only schedule 2 hour time slots, which is understandable, I would need to get a consult for my color, and color and cut would be 2 separate appointments. I was told there was a time slot open for Saturday but that I would get a call back from April to schedule the consult or appointment, since I was gonna take whatever was available first. Didn't get a call back. Today it's Friday and I called again. Spoke to April who reiterated a few things listed earlier. And I let her know I spoke to Jamie on Tuesday, was told there was an opening Saturday, and I was waiting on a call back to schedule either a cut on Saturday or a consult for my color. She said she didn't have anything open but would check with Jamie, then just put Jamie on the phone who said nothing was available today or Saturday, and since they were both taking vacation time the following weeks that they weren't scheduling until the last week of June. Told her to nevermind and I would figure something else out. She said ok and hung up. This is NOT to knock their ability to do hair. But I do think that with it being such a busy salon, they would have a better process in place to get back to their customers. Or maybe they're ok with not having new clientele because they don't need it. Either way, I'm disappointed and I'll have to find somewhere else.

The best salon experience i have ever had! Definitely recommend the devacut, jamie is the sweetest and did wonders to my 2b-3b hair, she’s officially my favorite hairdresser now for suree and remember to ask for layers they do the most to pop ur curls out ;) she even came in early just so that I would be able to get my hair cut, cutest salon ever!

I went in for a Devacut and Jami cut my hair, she was absolutely amazing. Very knowledgeable and cut my hair exactly how I asked, she knew exactly what cut would suit my curls best and absolutely delivered, I will continue to go to her! Best devacut experience I’ve had so far hands down
