Sushi Matsuri Japanese Restaurant reviews
16Awesome atmosphere, great and diverse service, and everyone was very kind! Just the miso soup and rice alone (my comfort food) was beyond perfect.
Heard good things about this place but we didn’t get to experience that.we made an online dinner reservation about a week in advance for valentine’s day.when we got there, we informed the hostess/waitress up front and a middle aged Asian lady who I assume is the manager or boss.we showed them the confirmation email but they still didn’t seem like they wanted to help.they told us they didn’t have our names down (reservations were written in their notebook). The only option was to sit at the bar, which was about two inches close to a table that was occupied.there was a bigger table open but it seemed like they wanted to save that for a bigger party who will give them more money.disappointed that they didn’t try to work harder to help us out with the reservation situation and almost ruined my plans. I ended up leaving and had a much better experience and night at Rock N’ Roll Sushi.
This is a great, quiet spot for sushi. Check the specials before you order as they have some great sashimi options that aren't on the menu. Highly recommend the Matsuri roll.
Best sushi in Gainesville hands down. It is on the pricier side, so I like to come here when I want to treat myself. However, their prices are super reasonable for how fresh and high quality their seafood is and I am happy to pay it.
Very fresh, the fish in the rolls took up more space than the other ingredients, and great atmosphere. Highly recommend!
We found this place by accident, but will definitely come back. The sushi was top-notch and the staff is great.
The food was pretty pricy but very good. I had the Oyako Don and and it tasted absolutely wonderful. Each entre also came with a salad and miso soup which I thought was nice. The staff was friendly and helpful and the restaurant itself was very nicely decorated. If you're looking to have a nice meal or looking for a spot to impress your date I would recommend this place!
Worst service ever. The Latina woman is extremely rude. The menu is very simple and I was frustrated because they don’t don’t offer the basics of what most Japanese restaurants offer, decided to order anyway, however, the service is soo bad I’ll never order again and will be sure to spread the word. Also they don’t have basic sauces, suck’s their teeth related my order to me when I walked in stating oh YOU ordered xyz… abruptly asked me if I needed chop sticks, I mean it was really bad. If I weren’t sent in there by someone else I would’ve canceled my order all together. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. Good isn’t even worth the attitude.
This restaurant is hands down the freshest sushi restaurant in town and holds the most intimate setting for a sushi excursion with yourself, your friends or family. Not only does they’re fish come in decent sized slices of sashimi, but they’ll lovingly add flavor filled fish eggs, homemade sauces and maintain delicious weekly specials of fish that you will NOT find anywhere else. Trust me.
I found even as simple as their miso and ginger salad have been more flavorful than others in town. If you’re a sushi lover like me, once you try this place…you’ll never want anywhere else.
The owner of the restaurant was horribly rude and asked my table if we could just venmo each other instead of her splitting checks.i have never experienced this.there was a hair in my food which they remade but made it seem like an inconvenience to them.
A pleasant surprise that I've walked past numerous times and never paid any mind but the Foodie Spot next door was too crowded. I'm excited to say that.the lunch special was so GREAT with a sweet price! #
The food was amazing.the chefs were very detailed in their work.i just moved from Japan, so it was very nice to have a meal that was so similar to what i used to have back in my home country.you could taste it even from the miso of their soup, and the tasty fish.i had a great time:)
This is THE sushi restaurant. The fish is fresher, the sushi rice is perfection, the rolls are balanced. I highly recommend the sashimi platter.
Went right as it opened at 5: 30 and was delighted by the quick service and food. There’s so many options that I could come back every night for a month without eating the same meal again. Recommend the matsuri roll!
The soup was awful, the noodles smelled, the sushi was slimy and not good. We were so disappointed in the sushi restaurants in Gainesville.
Friendly staff. Delicious Futomaki, a roll often not on sushi restaurant menus these days. The tempura appetizer could have, perhaps, been a little lighter and crisper. Rating this nice place down for that, however, I cannot do
