Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park & Funeral Home reviews
20Do not recommend April Everett as your funeral director, Does a sloppy job and never follows up with what she says will be done. The manager of the funeral home never gets back to you and lets you sit there for an hour before you give up and leave. They really take advantage of your time of need and grief. Very Disappointing
Sylvan Abbeys team of professional staff really helped ease the preparations for my Dads service. The care, compassion and level of knowledge is what’s needed during such sorrowful times. They provided this 100% and even after uto the picking up of his urn. Thank you all again for making his & our day memorable. ️
Excellent service and communication. Service was very personalized and professional. Highly recommend.
When asking about the details of my mother's funeral woman was not only unhelpful but downright unnecessarily RUDE!
We attended a funeral for a friend’s daughter and we were placed in the overflow room, where they live streamed the service. When the service started the audio was so low we could not hear any of the service.
Then halfway through, music started to play along with commercials.
Towards the end of the service a couple of the employees started to bring food out and refill the water and tea pitchers causing more noise and distraction.
There were over 100 people in the overflow room that were not able to fully participate in the celebration of life due to lack of audio, distractions, and unprofessionalism.
Thank you to Sylvan Abbey and Indira, the funeral director who assisted our family with funeral arrangements for my stepfather. They were able to set up a beautiful tribute to his life for the viewing and arrange for military honors at the graveside service. At a difficult time, Sylvan Abbey and Indira did a wonderful job for our family.
As Always, John Abbott and his staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs in those difficult times. And that will only show the exceptional Service that they always provide.
Everything went smooth, the display of pictures and stuff was absolutely beautiful! Everyone commented on that. Mom looked very peaceful. There are not enough Thank yous for all your help.
Nicely understood and answered all my questions, giving the right advice for every specific situation. I’m glad l made the right decision by choosing Sylvan Abbey, thank you Jennifer and the staff.
Chris was not friendly or sympathetic, not helpful and would not even help with the obituary (because it would have been more work for him). I was planning things from out of town and he repeatedly asked me to come in to “go over things” which I explained would be easier over email, I requested to docusign papers and he acted like that was a huge inconvenience and something they never did. If I could leave a zero star I would. Fees are extremely high for what you get.
I would strongly NOT recommend using them! NOT HELPFUL!
Jennifer Philips very helpful 100%. Understanding and very pleasant person. I had very good experience.
God Bless their service.
It was a beautiful location and friendly staff leading up to the funeral day. However, our graveside service was not the best experience… We were rushed to complete the graveside service due to “another service that was about to start…” Later was explained it was about the parking. But we also had some mix up about our loved ones final wishes.
It could have been a lot better and smoother experience. Several family members left upset because of the experience.
Sylvan Abbey really went the extra mile. They were kind and more than helpful. In particular Indira Lugo handled every last detail because I was out of the state. Thank you.
My husband died very suddenly over a year ago. I paid a very large sum of money — too grief-stricken at the time to realize exactly what was happening — and have had to fight with Sylvan ever since to have his gravesite managed as they promised. They’ve had to replace the hedge 4 times and the sod twice because the site was never watered nor the grass trimmed (my sister-in-law and I have kept the grass trimmed). I’ve gotten a lot of promises to “do better” from Sylvan but no action. It’s been a nightmare.
We had the best experience that anyone could have - considering a sudden tragic loss. The funeral home and memorial park is outstanding – beautiful tree lined and impeccably maintained. But what sets it apart are all the lovely staff - from our dedicated funeral director Indira Lugo, Jessica for the burials to the receptionists – all of them but especially Wendy. Indira totally understood and navigated our family’s needs sensitively. Andy Oliver the non-denominational pastor really fitted with our family’s style. In the end, the funeral day was beyond our expectations from the room design including our memorabilia, photo slides, music and our choice in flowers. There was even special respect to my sister’s classical piano playing days with a grand piano at the entrance. Special touches the whole time. You can be assured of a the most touching goodbye
An anticipated day of making our "final funeral arrangements" turned into a fun planning session all due to our sales lady's upbeat and very pleasant personality - Jennifer Phillips. My husband and I had stalled for years not wanting to face this gloomy task. However, we were pleasantly surprised to meet this charming young lady who brightened up our meeting room and immediately put us at ease. She very competently and succinctly communicated to us our burial options; and, nicely and thoroughly answered our many questions.
Jennifer then proceeded to provide a golf cart orientation tour of the cemetery which helped immensely with our burial's final location. We were actually laughing and making light of this "grave" decision - we had the best time in spite of our age differences - we feel as though we have known her forever.
All-in-all, Jennifer was most instrumental in helping us to reach a comforting funeral resolution. Our dreaded day turned out to be a day of relief as we now definitely know the whereabouts of our final resting place. But, most importantly, our children will not have to emotionally make this decision. We owe this easily made decision to Jennifer's wonderful empathetic and caring personality - and, if we were still in the work force, we would definitely want Jennifer on our team.
Sincerely, Jan and John Oleson
T his has been a wonderful experience, considering what was being done. My experience working with Alexandra was truly caring, She is wonderful, truly a treasure worker.
Sylvan Abbey is a beautiful place! Peaceful and serene. I knew we were in the right place when we walked in the door. Edgar was wonderful! Not pushy. Worked with us on prices and packages. So glad we chose Sylvan Abbey for our end of life needs and arrangements.
Thank you for patiently explaining to my mother and myself the process of her chosen cremation package and final resting placement at Syvan Abby. All of our questions were professionally answered by Edgar Castro, who made this a pleasant experience for us both.
Sylvan Abbey is a great and professional establishment. Bridgette, George and Kim Feaster as well as the entire staff were so helpful and empathetic when guiding me through fulfilling my father’s last wishes. I would highly recommend them. Thank you to everyone involved!
