Taverna Opa Orlando

Great Food and the belly dancing, making it rain in napkins and people randomly dancing on tables is a sight to see.

This review will be slightly different than the others. While I've tried the food from Taverna Opa (and it's AMAZING), my company and I also used their services to help us host a Block Party for our industry a couple weeks ago. I'm attaching photos from the night.

Anyway, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the ENTIRE staff from Opa Taverna. There is no way we would've been able to pull it off without the Megans and the rest of their team. Everyone was so welcoming and gave nothing but exceptional service.

There was unexpected construction going on at Pointe Orlando we were not expecting to continue up until the event. The owner of Opa, Megan, and Megan jumped right in with helping us install a staging area in addition to turf to cover the flooring that was completely destroyed.

From beginning to end, the entire Opa Taverna staff was attentive, kind, and extremely hardworking to helping make the event an overall success. You can tell the group see each other like family. They took care of every single guest without any hesitations and I'm forever grateful to them.:)

Unrelated to the event and on to the food itself, I tried their food on two different occasions. I had their roasted lamb with green beans and potatoes - a suggestion from one of the waiters and I have zero regrets. One of the managers, Gabby, offered a Greek-style ice coffee, which was DELICIOUS. I requested it again the second time I went for lunch.

All in all, whether you need to host an event or just going out for lunch, this is a great spot to visit!

2021 update: 17 of us had dinner here last night. FANTASTIC experience! We sat outside, and we chose the family meal option. OUTSTANDING food.plenty of it and every single bite was delicious! Tatiana was BEYOND AWESOME! She took care of everything and was the crucial piece to the evening’s enjoyment! Absolutely wonderful time last night…thank you Niko and Tatiana for providing us with such a good time!

What a great night! A group of 7 sat down for drinks. Food and laughs. Louis was fantastic! Ask for his station when you visit! Food and drinks are great!

We had an amazing night. It was beyond fun and a great experience. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. Belly dancers and flying napkins. We will continue to go here.

I never spoke to anyone not even your GM. This happened on Friday not Saturday.

Hello Kasey. We understand you were able to speak to our GM about this today. We are a family-owned business of 14+ years. Honesty and trust is very important to us! We do not receive a lot of cash for payments, so we were able to go through the server’s received cash and his pockets, and did not find any $50 bills. This server has been with us for several years as well. We appreciate you allowing us to speak with you directly about this.

How disgraceful calling your customer a liar! Your waiter is a liar and you responded the next day so you could not of gone through his pockets!
I even sent a picture of the check and the $50 bill that was given to the waiter.

Our favorite place to eat in Orlando. ALWAYS great food and service. Never miss the evening Greek dancing and all around craziness! OPA!

The food is decent. Salmon was a bit dry to my taste, but overall I enjoyed food and time spent there. Service in general is good and attentive. They did bring appetizer together with the main course, which was a bit strange. Anyway I would still recommend the place.

I was having a good time for my friends birthday dinner… until i was SCAMMED by my waiter, younger man with dark hair and beard he was nice until I handed him a $50 bill to pay for my $20 meal and never hands me my cash back. So i ask for the rest of my thirty dollars of change and he tried to convince me i handed him only a 20 when i am certain i had only a 50 on me and even have a video of me holding my check with the bill on it. Very disappointed that he took 30 dollars of my cash and will NOT BE RETURNING despite the good food and fun.sad that people do stuff like this.

Gyro was great, i got a side of tzatziki for the fries, crush your own hummus in a mortar and pestle, very cool.

We came here for Magical Dining Month this year; I know I'm behind in my reviews. The menu was solid, and the atmosphere, I hear, is unbeatable. So I decided to come give it a shot. The place was packed with long tables, so we were jammed in very close to our neighbors. Starting at a certain time, I think 7PM or 8PM, there starts unrelenting loud music that does not stop. So be prepared to yell at your server a lot.

Appetizers:

Falafel (Chickpea croquettes, tzatziki). Solid, crispy falafel, fresh tasting tzatziki. No complaints.

Saganaki (Vlahotiri cheese flamed tableside with brandy). This was a delight. Everyone that orders this gets a loud Opa! And their cheese flambeed right in front of them. Very fun, very good cheese.

Main Course:

Slow-Roasted Lamb (Garlic, herbs, lemon potatoes, vegetables). Mmmm. I loved this. The lamb was served pot roast style, which had a nice, flagrant flavor. Moist and soft. The potatoes added to the pot roast vibes. The vegetable was green beans with some slivered almonds in them, quite nice.

Filet Mignon (10oz.black angus filet medallions, lemon potatoes, vegetables). This was served in 2 five-ounce medallions, cooked well, seasoned well. The potatoes and the green beans made a return. While they both tasted good, there should be a little more originality here, I think.

Dessert:

Opa Ekmek (Shredded phyllo, custard, whipped topping, walnuts). This was bonkers good. The crust of this pie was shredded phyllo! I've never had anything like this. The custard was nice and sweet, and the walnuts gave you that great crunch.

Loukoumades (Greek style donuts, honey syrup, walnuts). These were also bonkers good. Like Italian zeppole, but crispier fried and slathered in honey. My goodness, this was the perfect dessert.

Overall, the food was three stars, sorry, the desserts were four stars, but the atmosphere was five stars. The dancers and the servers all throwing unlimited amounts of napkins in the air, along with the DJ that keeps it bumping literally all night long. I loved it. I'll definitely come back if their menu for next year's MDM can improve upon itself.

As a Greek myself, who grew up in a Greek house with a Greek mother who cooked authentic Greek food, I was totally unimpressed. Food is mediocre at best and the service, not so good. It was more about push customers to buy family style than letting you just order off the regular menu. We were there for lunch. I wasn’t there to spend $50 a person for lunch! Are you kidding me? If this is what you call Greek food, then clearly I come from a very different Greek background. Tourist trap - for people that have no idea what authentic Greek food is, and wouldn’t know it if you put it in front of them!

Good experience except they seemed short staffed and not very organized with that. Good very good. Staff very nice

What a great place. Food was excellent and the employees were very attentive and friendly. Met Tatiana and Niko. Ate outside under the covered patio with heaters. Inside it was very festive with belly dancing and napkin tossing. Folks were even dancing on the bar counter. Finished off the evening with their flavorful desserts. Can't decide which one to get, try the sampler and get a taste of all of them. I put this restaurant on my "favorites list"

First time here. At the bar. I’m a positive person so let’s start with the positive. Ana and Pablo very friendly. Not the best with working the bar and working attentiveness and I hope they will take this as something to work on s they were very friendly. Multiple times I asked for water, lemon. Took a long time to get it. Desert wasn’t delivered in a timely fashion. The bartenders need to be more communicative with one another. Great food so it didn’t disappoint. Would come again, but expecting a better balanced bar staff.
