Im a Tampa native so I've dealt with TECO a long time.
I had my bill averaged & have never felt so ripped off & screwed. My bill went from Avg 60$ to 297$ with a 200$ balance & having.trouble paying first time in 30 years. They can't explain why other than part of it was deferrered. I can't get it reasonable explanation

Since they switched to these call centers customer service is awful and thats not a lie. Stop being greedy and have a location that people can actually go to for issues because this call center way isnt working and the agents act as if they dont know what you are talking about.

Horrible customer service! How can you resolve an issue if they don't answer the phone? I been out of town for 1 months with circuit box off, how did I get a $75 bill when I'm not using any power? And disconnected service before they can answer their phone. I going to the highest person I can to complain!

Teco doesn’t even deserve 1star. Sucks when you have no choice but to suffer with just one power company. For years I’ve never paid over $150 in electricity, this year I’m paying $250 a 20% increase for what reason? The budget billing program was a scam. Class action lawsuit coming soon. No wonder everyone is going solar. Thanks teco you guys are really showing your true colors and it’s green.

Called to set up service at a new residential location. TECO could not verify my personal information after providing all necessary and pertinent details. Spoke to two different customer service representatives who told me two different reasons as to why my identity could not be verified. One of them told me they would write my social security number down on a piece of paper to “double check” what information had already been taken by the previous customer service representative. After providing car registration information, previous residential addresses, TECO was still unable to verify me. I’m a U. S.citizen with no prior criminal record and a 780 credit score. No answer was ever given as to why they couldn’t verify my information. Used my husbands information to establish service instead. Set up service for a Monday morning. Because my husband was on a work call and unable to answer the technician’s call, our service appointment was cancelled. Spent AN HOUR AND 30 minutes on hold just to speak with yet ANOTHER representative to understand why and to get rescheduled. Why do we need to confirm the appointment time online AND on a phone call just to get a technician out? We already confirmed the date and time the first time. Why need another confirmation? We were charged a cancelation fee even though we confirmed the date and time AND I’ve been waiting at the new rental, available as confirmed, to meet the technician. Terrible customer service. Terrible way to run business. Moving is already hard enough, why make establishing service for HOT WATER such a headache? ! TECO is terrible.

Terrible service. Lying about our bills going up so much month to month. Bill is $200 more than this time last year. $100 more than just last month. And the service is worse! Power outages all the time for no reason. Poor maintenance on transformers even when issues have been reported several times. Unbelievable what they are doing to all of us. Wish I could give 0 stars. Customer service makes it seem like it is something WE are doing to make our electric bill so high. When we are actually doing MORE to conserve energy than last year. All new appliances, shutting shades, keeping the air up higher. It doesn’t matter. Sad they are allowed to get away with it and I know this all traces back to a bigger picture. DO SOMETHING.

Right now I am on hold for the second time. This time it is 28 minutes (and counting). The last time was about 10 before they sent me to the wrong person and then disconnected me. There is no option for call back. Yesterday I came home and my house was 91 degrees. I thought my AC was broken until I realized the power was out. By the time I got to someone (I had to speak with the emergency team) they told me that my service had been canceled - no explanation, no warning. I have live animals in that house! It was explained to me that someone called in a new service to my house, a house that they do not own and they were not required to prove anything. So that automatically canceled my service, despite living there 20 years and not missing payments. They can't tell me who set up the service and apparently there is still another account. This is insane.

It’s incredible that our local electricity company is so horrible, it just doesn’t care, Duke is your best option, I move to a new house and it’s been 4 days with no energy, making us go by some steps, and literally hours waiting for a human to speak to us! They claimed they are full of technology and that they will put your energy by only moving a bottom, never happen also we have 2 kids a fish a dog which they care less, my neighbor is also tellin me that don’t put the energy on automatic payments cause they will take your money, and if you won’t check your staments they will charge twice, and since there is no humans to answer you just have to take your lost smh won’t recommend Teco to no body the worst electricity company of the USA

with a Meter Reading of 0 kwh used

I just moved and my first bill was due 05/12. They shut down my power on 05/25. ONLY 13 days late. I probably missed the bill since I just moved. They didn't try to call me or anything, just shut down the service. This is absurd. Hope they get sued by someone.

They are a monopoly hows a person supposed to review a service without being able to compare it to others.basically there's no choice it's teco or teco so it sucks all around also waited for an hr for a representative bc the call back choice said they were closing soon even though it gave me the choice and then hung up on me

My business at Tampa, Florida. I am in business for 11 years. My electric bill for the last 10 years always under $1600, last September 2022 my bill came $4900. I called TECO trying to explain my bill was never this high for the last 11 years. Long story short they didn’t even bother to investigate or check why my bill so high in September. Since they are the only one company in Tampa, I have no choice but to pay them $5000. I asked them see my last 11 years bill. It was never this high. Oct-Dec bill came down to normal. Back to $1400. Please credit, they refuse. TECO rep replied, It came from your location you have to pay, my fault period. This is my sad story. Hooray for TECO!
