The Avenue Apartments, Tampa FL

PLEASE MAKE SURE THERE IS A UNIT AVAILABLE BEFORE GIVING YOU DEPOSIT! The application process was very stressful. I was originally denied for a Criminal Charge that is 5 years old. Granted I understand why it can cause me to get denied, I was reassured I should still be ok. After waiting 4 days for a response I had to reach out to there Corporate Property Manager myself. I explain the situation and spoke to a kind woman who then gave me the green light and said I would be ok to Proceed with the Process. The unit was not available until the 18th of April and when I inquired when I had to give the deposit I was informed it needed to be turned in right away. It was the 7th of March when I turned it in. On the 11th i received a call that the unit is no longer available and respectfully asked for my deposit back. Please keep in mind I gave it on the 7th of March. It is now the 25th and I have still not received it back. I have called and texted Every DAY for the last 2 weeks. No one seemed to give me a clear answer and strung me along. Conveniently I provided an Tracking Number which you can clearly see was not created until the 20th (meaning they did not send it out until the 20th). This is madness for you to hold someone's money for that long. I WILL NEVER step foot in this property again. I understand things happen but you should have acted quickly like I did and return my money!

Lived at this apartment complex for just over 5 years and it has been a pretty good experience, for the most part. Initially, I was extremely displeased with the new Property Management, however, Marko, the new Assistant Manager, addressed every concern that I had and made every effort to resolve things in a very professional manner. I'm surprised they haven't made him Property Manager as yet. He is very professional, knows how to deal with people, has excellent problem solving skills, has excellent communication skills and gets things done.

I would first like to Send A Big Thanks to The Manager { Ms. Maria Bermudez} & The Assistant Manager {Marco Chavez} for going above and beyond to make sure I was approved and had all the correct documents. As well as making sure everything and I mean everything in my apartment was up to part in great working conditions and it was done in a very professional way.
Great Job You Guys Awesome Team I believe God place me in the right spot at the right time.

I was in a bind a few months ago and needed to move, Marco Chavez went above and beyond for me and my son. He is GREAT very knowledgeable at his job, he made the entire process a breeze and ALWAYS makes us feel at home. I LOVE being a tenant at The Avenue! I highly recommend renting here. Worst apartment I’ve ever lived in. They’ll shut your water off weekly, and I’d rather deal with the roaches in the apartment complex than to deal with the illiterate property manager Maria. Go next door to the park valenza if you’re trying to save money.

Unfortunately people trash the place or it wouldn’t be bad. Always breaking the entry gate and leaving garbage around the dumpster.

We had a real problem with roaches no matter how often we called for bug service, they were everywhere. The front door didn’t seal shut so anything could crawl in.

Just moved out after a 12 month lease, and it's honestly not a bad place to live at all. It's very close to the University area, downtown Tampa, and Ybor, and not far from Brandon either. There's not much within walking distance other than the 711 (which I recommend paying inside and not at the pump, had my card compromised three times in 6 months, and when I stopped going to this gas station, it stopped. Coincidence? Maybe.). As far as the apartment itself goes, you get the occasional people yelling, the occasional car blasting music as they come home, but for the most part it's pretty quiet and feels very safe. I never noticed any sort of sketchy activity, and I always felt safe walking my trash half way across the complex to the dumpster, even late at night. My car never suffered any damage or break-ins, and there is plenty of parking FOR RESIDENTS. Visitor parking is fairly limited, but never once did I have visitors who were unable to find a parking spot, and they typically were able to park very close to my unit. Once or twice did they have to park on the other side, but it's a small complex, so the walks around aren't terrible. Inside my unit, I saw maybe two roaches in the entire year I lived there, and it was within the first month after I put down roach bait for preventative measures. I did have a fruit fly problem, but it wasn't horrible, and I could have easily taken care of the issue myself (I'm pretty sure they were coming from the drains). My A/C unit stopped blowing cold air on maybe 5 occasions, but every single time, maintenance came out and fixed it the day we noticed except on a Sunday when the office was closed. They came out first thing the next day, though. It felt like the complex's water was shut off at least once a month for usually 3 hours or so in the middle of the day which always became a joke with me and my friends - "ohp, the water's out again! " but honestly I'm sure the repairs were necessary, and it never affected me as I work during the day. The front entrance gate worked maybe 3 or 4 total months of the 12 I lived there, but since I felt safe in the complex and area, I really didn't care. BE CAREFUL WITH THE EXIT GATE! Do not drive out willy nilly if it's open, always approach slowly and stop as if it were a stop sign at the speed bump.just in case! It did close on my car once and cause some minor scratches, but ultimately it was my fault for driving as if I were in a rush, so I didn't dispute it. No, the gate does not close right after each car like the sign says, but do be careful just in case.

Long story short, you get what you pay for, but it's not bad AT ALL. Definitely a good starter apartment, and the management and maintenance do a great job for what they deal with. Most neighbors are quiet and peaceful, but it only takes one bad apple to make the work on management hell, so do keep that in mind if there are ever any sort of issues like the gate not working (people kept hitting it and causing damages *eyeroll*). The only reason I didn't renew my lease is because my girlfriend and I wanted a bit more space and the privacy of a house to live in. Highly recommend for the Tampa area!

Instead of birds chirping, you hear gun shots when you live here.

The Avenue Apartments are roach infested, and not an ideal place for anyone who values their safety.

When you put in a request for maintenance, they will complete your “request” and never show up.

Good luck calling them after you submit your application and pay your dues. They’ll never answer your call again.

To future residents who have no choice but to live here.you’ll be inclined to repeat this same message.

It’s definitely an okay apartment to live in. I feel like a lot of these negative reviews are just people who had unrealistic expectations for this neighborhood. It’s an older, but renovated, complex. So you get what you pay for. The only real issues would be the gate is broken sometimes, there needs to be more visitor parking, and they tend to do a fair amount of water pipe maintenance which requires the water for the whole complex to be shut off. But again, it’s older but renovated so older pipes just tend to have issues.
Anyone complaining about “drug dealers” and “thugs” roaming the neighborhood are ridiculous. Every neighbor Ive encountered has been friendly, normal people. If you want someplace with 0 issues and the highest quality features imaginable then go someplace else and pay double the price.
It’s a nice apartment complex for what you get.

I can hear my neighbor above me walking like he’s going to fall through the floor. They are renovating new apartments but will not treat their existing tenants and do little to fix the problems. Their intent is to rid the complex of people that have been grandfathered into the apartment complex as it was bought out from another company this year. The pictures I have posted were taken on February 2,2019 and most have still not been completed and they refuse to replace the old carpet that was here before I came in in this condition. The manager walked through the apartment with me and literally told me that all the carpet needed was cleaning. However I was responsible for moving all of my furniture out of the apartment in order to do so. As old is this carpet is it is rough and dry from too many cleanings and the padding is crumbling apart underneath. I had an infestation of roaches And an infestation a red ants. They were covering my bed when I drew back my comforter. They want to get the old tenants out so that they can upgrade the apartments for new tenants and raise the prices from the $840’s to $1200 for a one bedroom apartment. They care nothing for their current tenants. My neighbor upstairs had to replace all of the outside lights in my building because they would not change them. My only reason for staying is to finish out my lease but even so I could break my lease easily with these pictures. There is no security the gate keeps getting broken and anyone can come and go into the community. Don’t be fooled by it being a gated community. You won’t feel safe here.

One of the best places to live in-close to Downtown Tampa and close distance to restaurants and stores. Property is well-kept and the staff always does their best to resolve any issues in a timely fashion.

The truth is you pay for what you get and nothing is further from the truth here

I've have had a good experience so far. Quiet neighborhood, quiet neighbors, the apartment is a good size and haven't had any problems so far. Been living here for 5 months now and I'm satisfied.

We moved in January 2nd of this year. We had a couple small issues upon moving in, however they were addressed immediately! The office staff is super nice and always makes time for you. They have gone above and beyond with fulfilling requests. They are working very hard during this transitional period to make things better and are doing a fabulous job. I look forward to seeing what else they are able to accomplish in the coming weeks and months.

I was able to visit the property and have to say that I was impressed from the office staff to the grounds. I'm currently helping a family member search for an apartment and must say that the customer service we were given by Jodi was outstanding. I will definitely recommend this complex to anyone who's looking to move.
