The Blue Anchor British Pub reviews
19We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The prices were fair and the location was excellent. We almost left at first, because of a long wait for service, due to a large group of regulars at the bar. Once we received service, it was friendly and the food was very good. Loved the atmosphere and plan to return.
My friends and I went to this bar this evening and ordered beers. We encountered a woman who is extremely belligerent and asked us to move a chair. She was the owner as I later learned from the bartenders, and she was extremely drunk as was her entire family. I Will never go back to this bar in my life
Great place for traditional British food and drink. Excellent service. It's a famous place with a storied history.
3* as the menu on the website/on exterior of pub are not reflective of the offerings on the actual menu. Please bring back English favorites such as scotch egg and sausage roll or remove from the literature so as not to tease! Great experience otherwise!
Warm, expensive beer that tastes off. Replace your equipment with all that extra $ you charge!
Don't waist your time. Staff is rude.food is not great. Go somewhere else if you want authentic Irish cuisine and you want to be treated with kindness
The Venue owner or manager has an issue with alternative people and people of color. I lived in England/ London for over 17 yes and I can tell you he does not mirror the Spirit i loved and enjoyed in the UK and in Delray.
After a female friend suggested to get fish and chips outside of the venue we sat for a few minutes to get situated when he basically came out aggressively with foul language and arrogance in attempt to belittle us. But we're better than that
We've faced these type of people before with our Heroes, like Ali, King & X.
This place used to be nice must be when this pompous A$$ wasn't there.
As an international artist I can't even be bothered with minions like that, and from a couple of reviews below me I'm happy & sad to see that I'm not alone.
The barmaid was rude and pushy, demanded a bigger tip! She was given a 35% tip and she stated we should give more because the happy hour is inexpensive. She needs to be fired ASAP!
We stopped by this pub since we saw good reviews, but it was not as expected. The place looked old, outdated, and had this odd smell.
We had 2 old fashioned for $26, and the roach spray by the bar was an eye-opener for me.
Have been going there for years. I personally think the best fish and chips around. Flaky white fish with a beer batter.great fries and try the coleslaw too. Consistency is always there. Friendly service great selection of beer.
Great pub for an authentic English beer, on tap. My favorite beer is there is Fullers ESB. I also love the Shepherds Pie.
This place feels like you are on an episode of Bar Rescue. Terrible service. Bartender was openly taking shots with patrons. Mixed up a 2 beer order. Was charged for the mistake. The beers from the beer engines do not pour correctly and taste terrible (lack of draft line cleaning). Was really excited to have a good Fuller's ESB, for shame.
The old lady serving behind the bar was so rude. Sarcastic and nasty tone. She has a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp!
Can't beat the atmosphere of a real British Pub. Always full of friendly folks with great British ales on tap.
I had a blackened chicken sandwich here with fries. The sandwich was OK, needed to be seared better because the blackened seasoning was running off of the sandwich. Fries were tasty. My wife had fish and chips, which at an English pub you HAVE TO get right. It was OK. Too much breading, but the cod was delicious and flaky. Other people at our table had the Shephards Pie and were swooning over it.
Giving them 5 stars because the staff there are total studs. We were a huge party and they were short staffed. They messed up one of our table's orders so comped some food and bought the group a round of shots. That was awesome. They stayed upbeat and friendly all while dealing with a huge group they weren't really ready for. We'd called ahead, but I think there was a miscommunication between the bartender that night and whoever our group leader talked to about us coming. That said the staff rolled with it and made it work.
Worth going in for the awesome staff and decent food.
I would give zero stars if
I could. Owner Mark and bartender Peg are an embarrassment
Thought we'd stop by since the hotel recommend us. The food wasn't bad but the blonde lady has to go, absolutely zero patience and lacks any amount of customer service skills.
Peggy and Mark are refusing to mail my sons last check. He would tell me the horror stories of the nightmare in the kitchen. Beware!
Should have ordered something else to eat.
But it was fine for pub food.
Staff is awesome and attentive.
Great local business
