The Corner Cafe - Home of Gourmet2Go, Sanford FL

The food was generally just bad, especially their Cuban sandwich (which they wouldn’t shut up about) and yes, the service was awkward and uncomfortable. But restaurants suck sometimes, it happens. I was originally just gonna leave it be. HOWEVER, after reading reviews, the owners incessant need to save his fragile ego by responding to EVERY SINGLE low review (some of which have valid criticisms) is equal part’s hilarious as it is sad. This place has become an inside joke among our family because of the owner’s short temper and unrestricted computer access. But honestly, I’ll take a good laugh at the expense of Chef Michael in exchange for some bad food any day.

The Corner Cafe is OPEN! Fridays Only between 5: 00 pm - 8: 00 pm. My husband and I Love Chef Michael and his homemade, very delicious soups, salads and sandwiches! Everything is always served hot and fresh in a wonderfully cozy atmosphere. The Corner Cafe is our favorite place to visit in Historic Downtown Sanford.

The once/month dinner events are wonderful! There's no one rushing around, a relaxed & fun vibe allowing to "be in the moment" and great way to spend quality time with family/friends in our lovely local Sanford community. Thanks for memorable times, Michael!

Drove over from Deland on Friday for lunch, was closed even though it said open online.
Was eager to try because of reviews.

This restaurant should be shut down. The worse menu only soup, salad and sandwich. The food was horrible bread was old the soup will let’s just say can soup would have been better. I won’t ever go back. The owner has reserved signs on the table we got there at 7: 45 pm left 9 pm he closed No other people ever came for the supposedly Reserved tables. I would never recommend this place. I only rated 1 star to be able to post this message but not even one star is deserve at all. Please save your money so not worth $40.00 plus we spent on old horrible tasting food. Not to say we got sick the whole weekend something made us very sick.

Are they going out of business or something? Their hours have disappeared but it just said "open now" so I drove all the way from Ocala forest to get my favorite treat here then it was closed with no sign or hours posted on the door or anything?

Popped in for lunch and was very surprised to discover this place is excellent!

As a chef myself I am very picky when it comes to eating out, I am mostly disappointed to be honest. However this corner cafe had some of the best soup & sandwiches I’ve had in a very long time. Proper delicious!

The kitchen staff clearly know what they are doing and must have passion for what they do, you can taste it. The food was homey, affordable and darn right delicious. It’s no fine dining by any means but if you are hungry for a good tasty soup or sandwich, your tastebuds will thank you for stopping here.

Honestly, my partner and I haven’t stopped thinking about this place for months! I wish it wasn’t a 3hr drive away! I would make it a weekly occurrence, but anytime we’ll be close by this will be our pit stop.

The place is very unassuming and while the owner is friendly and attentive it’s obvious he runs a tight ship (too tight Tbh). The poor young staff looked uncomfortable and frightened quite frankly, which did add to the ambience of the place in a negative way. The vibe was hard not to notice, politely tyrannical? When you go to grab lunch you’re looking for good food and good service yes, but in a relaxed environment. That was a real shame, I hope the owner can trust his staff, who are doing a great job, and loosen the reigns a little. It sure would make the experience that much more enjoyable. I’m keeping the 5 rating because the food was worth it!

Had the Cuban sandwich and French onion soup, nothing short of amazing! One of the best Cuban sandwiches I've ever had. Bread is perfect and the pork is incredible. Chef Michael is not only on top of his culinary game, he is a great personality, and storyteller. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.

This place is one of a kind. The staff, led by Chef Michael, are so over the top friendly and down to earth. The moment you walk in you immediately realize this isn't your average restaurant. I went with the recommendation of half a cuban and french onion soup and it was delicious. It's the only thing I get when I go but can't wait to try something else. Attention to detail is highly regarded here and as a Sanford staple try it out next time your ready for lunch.

This cozy cafe is absolutely phenomenal. Im very glad I stumbled across it driving through downtown. Michael was extremely friendly and helpful and within only 10 minutes we were on first name basis. The food and the coffee is delicious, homemade taste prepped with love.you wont be disappointed!

Best place in town for soup, sandwiches & salad! My personal favorite is the Vietnamese salad (best dressing EVER) with their AMAZING, AWESOME French onion soup in a bread bowl. YUM! You got to stop in, have a bite & have a conversation with Chef Mike. He's the best! Remembers your name each time you walk through his doors. Great atmosphere!

Wow what a Disappointment, I am restaurant owner myself, but some restaurants really don’t deserve to be in Bussines. I call restaurant a LUXURY, where people go to spend they hard working money and get appreciated, and all the costumer asks in return is a good food and good service. Yesterday it was my second time I went to this place and never again. Wow, I didn’t know they close early, so I went there with a friend. He got a table outside and I went inside to use the restroom and let the server know that we are going to be outside. Ones I enter the Restaurant, the owner approached me and said: How can I help you, and I said: me and a friend are sitting outside and need to use the restroom please. Then the guy said: sorry we are closed. Oh I said I didn’t know you close so early, of course with a smile on my face (it was somewhere around 3pm). Can I then use the restroom please, I need to go so BAD. And wow he says NO sorry we are Closed, why don’t you go NEXT door. Wooooow, I wasn’t offered The restroom no matter how BAD I needed, and as a matter of fact, that answer came from THE OWNER. Wow there were still costumers inside eating WOW. Again as a restaurant owner myself knowing that costumer need to Be respected and not disrespected like that. I did hear from other people before that the owner of this place is very RUDE, But people talk. Yesterday I got it proven myself. So if I as a restaurant owner myself, write the review, all I can say that this guy should be ashamed of himself and learn how to respect people, not to put a smile on his face only when it comes to MONEY

This place had a great vibe and the food was phenomenal. We had the 1/2 sandwich and soup special. The food was hot, tasty, and was genuinely unique. Michael the owner was cordial, took time to explain the menu and really took genuine care in catering to the needs of his clientele. Amazing place will be back again for sure. Try the French onion soup!

Very good. Nice service. They did bring us the wrong drinks, but fixed it immediately, with apologies. Great soups & sandwiches.

Amazing food and super friendly staff. We felt welcomed from the moment we walked in. I had their French onion soup which was so tasty and my husband had their Cuban and said it was amazing! We will be back for sure.

Found this wonderful little Cafe today! Service was excellent and the food was so good. We had the Cuban sandwich and the French Onion soup. Would definitely recommend if your in the area!

This place has it all - warm and friendly atmosphere, great food, and reasonable prices. Michael and his entire staff make everyone feel at home the moment they walk in the door. Service is always great. Soups, sandwiches and salads are all fresh, delicious, and served at the right temperature. Location is perfect for walking historic downtown Sanford. We'll keep coming back!

Love, Love, Love this Corner Cafe. The hospitality is GREAT. Very welcoming. Comfortable. Food is AMAZING. My first time there was the other day and ordered a half sandwich with salad and it was phenomenal. Place is so great I went back again today and brought my wife. Don't miss out on this gem!

Chef Michael and the rest of the staff are exceptional! Great service paired with amazing fresh food options. One of the best spots in town!
