The Guesthouses at Southernmost Beach Resort – Avalon Bed and Breakfast, Key West FL

Great location across from the butterfly conservatory. The room was great and the cleaning staff is wonderful. The breakfast is phenomenal; Tina makes a great omelette while multiplexing like no other all while bussing tables and being super sweet and helpful. She really could use some help! There are 4 different pools available, 2 of which have a full bar - all very nice. A couple small bummers: : The ice machine in the Avalon bldg isn't working and there is no coffee maker in the rooms or at least not in ours.

Amazing stay. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Very clean. Nicely decorated and updated room. Daily cookies were scrumptious. Daily breakfast was amazing! Only thing I would have liked was for the pool to be open later. I Will definitely stay here again!

Perfect location especially if you want the quieter end of Duval St. Nice clean rooms. Really good breakfast. Staff is very friendly.

Excellent place, so historic and beautiful. The management (Gary) is excellent, and went above and beyond, worth the money. Well done, this is how a business should be run.

We had a wonderful stay at Avalon. I think this has been the most personable experience we have ever had in Key West. Gary, Julie, Keith and I think the other sweet lady was Suzanne were so wonderful and made us feel like we we're home. The b&b was clean, cute and conveniently located on Duval Street. We will definitely stay with them again.

We booked our trip to the Avalon B&B before it was acquired by Southernmost Beach Resort (I don't think it is a better situation for anyone staying at the Avalon in the future). Before we arrived, we called and was informed about the new arrangement and was told that we would not have to pay the crazy $45 per day resort fee. We did 'express checkout' and when we received our bill we were charged a resort fee and a $28 per day parking fee (that was adjusted, off the bill). After calling the resort twice to have this corrected, Ashley told me that ". Everyone is charged a parking fee UNLESS YOU TELL THEM YOU AREN'T DRIVING. " No one asked if we needed parking, and Greg (from Avalon who was with us during the check in knew we didn't need parking. Speaking of Greg, he provided exceptional service every day and every instance we encountered him. Back to Southernmost.they also charged us $100 per day ($400) for incidentals that would be refunded to us if we didn't use it. Our only real charge was the purchase of one beer and one glass of wine, but when we go the bill we were charged ANOTHER $170.87 ON TOP of the $400 already charged. Now, I have stayed in some 5 star resorts, but never had a resort try to rip me off on top of the expensive lodging.
Regarding the lodging, yes it is nice. Very nice. It was also the most expensive lodging I've ever had, but not the best (and this experience with the billing reinforced that feeling.
So, a word of caution: DO NOT USE THE EXPRESS CHECKOUT.
Now, back to my review. I probably would have opted for a 4 star review had we not had this experience with the billing. What we liked: Again, the service by all at the Avalon was outstanding! The location can't be beat and we loved our private king room. The bedding was amazing; the breakfast on the front porch was enjoyable with a variety of hot foods daily; there was a ceiling fan in our room; the coffee maker in the lobby was great since breakfast wasn't served until 8: 30am and I like my coffee earlier; and I loved the afternoon cookies.
What we didn't like: Our tv wasn't working upon check-in and no one informed us that the tv wasn't working (the tv service wasn't restored until the 4th day of our stay) ; we did not have any maid service without asking for a 'refresh' (which was only once during our 4 night stay) ; and don't bother with an alarm clock because the rooster will wake you every morning.sometimes in the middle of the night and multiple times during the early morning hours.
Would I stay there again? No, nor would I stay at any Southernmost Property.

Avalon staff thought of every detail! We loved the morning breakfast, afternoon cookies and the perfectly delightful private room. I cannot say enough good things about Gary, Julie and the rest of the staff. They are attentive without hovering and made our experience so enjoyable. We will definitely stay again. Also - the proximity to the activities in town was ideal.

Everything is great here. The welcome we received from the staff, our room & private porch overlooking Duval St, the complimentary breakfast, the pool & deck…. Everything was wonderful. 5 stars isn’t enough!

Our experience at staying at Avalon was top-notch! I did not regret booking this and feeling kike I should have booked the Casa Marina or the reach. This place was perfect for a Keywest vacation experience. Close to a bike and scooter rental place and it was a smooth, check-in, smooth check-out and everything in between with wonderful breakfast in the morning at the porch. They had dairy free options for us and it was a healthy breakfast experience following COVID protocols. Thank you for also keeping the pool clean. It was a pleasant thing to have for winding down.

Our stay was fantastic! The staff was extremely friendly, room was very clean and even the bed was comfortable. I was a little nervous about booking a bed & breakfast but so glad we did. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay. The room was very cozy, comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast on the front porch was great. Good variety each morning and very relaxing. Location was perfect on the southern end of Duval Street. A lot more quieter and relaxing. Close to beach, restaurants, shops and bars. We found our home away from home when visiting Key West. We will definitely be back.

Amazing! I went for my honeymoon and would highly recommend to anyone. Comfortable beds, very clean, Keith the receptionist was extremely helpful, breakfast was great. Parking right in front of the B&B. We paid $35 overnight parking which wasn’t horrible, the Hilton down the road charged $40… would 100% stay there again

The staff couldn't have been more helpful and knowledgeable. They were polite and professional. The room was clean and tidy. The location was quiet and comfort.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Avalon Bed and Breakfast. From the minute you arrive you are taken care of. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We loved that it was not a crowded resort, and breakfast on the porch was a great start to every day. The rooms are well maintained and very clean. The beds are to die for! We will return.

Located on the quiet, pretty part of Duval St, this was a dreamy stay that exceeded any expectations we had. When exiting our car and setting our fist steps in Key West, we encountered chickens that wander KW freely. We looked around and we’re immersed in the tropical foliage and old Key West houses, we were definitely someplace special! We entered through the gate and covered front porch into the historic Avalon. The folks working at the Avalon immediately welcomed us with warm fresh cookies and a quick tour of the B&B. We checked into our upstairs room with a dreamy king bed and netting resembling the old days before AC (there is cold AC). We headed out for the evening with a 3- minute walk to the SouthernMost Point from Avalon. After that, we headed back up Duval to the louder area for dinner and people watching. The location of Avalon was absolutely perfect for us, it was nice and quiet but still an easy walk anywhere. That evening, we sat on the front porch and watched people go by as we enjoyed a couple of drinks. Breakfast on the front porch was great, the sun rises behind the Avalon so breakfast on the covered porch was in the shade. I wish I would have asked the names of the people working there, but they made you feel like a welcomed family member, especially the gentleman with glasses. It was truly a romantic and special experience for us. We do to keep when we’ll be back to Key West, but we will definitely be staying at Avalon!

Excellent stay! Staff is super friendly. Our room was beautiful.better than pictures show. Very nice continental breakfast Avalon helped make our trip special, and we can't wait for the next time.

Only drawback is lack of parking, but that is a separate issue.
