After much thought and consideration I stand by my 5 star review. We moved in March of 2021 and stayed until this past November when we purchased a home. We switched apartments June of 2021 because a one bedroom was just to small for my growing family. The staff in the office has been helpful every time I went in there with a stupid question and the maintenance staff was always so great and helpful and responded in a timely manner. It felt like home living at the Harbours. Not every apartment complex is perfect and this one has its flaws but nothing that would deem the apartment unsafe or unsanitary. We also always felt safe here and on a daily basis my wife would take my toddler on a stroll throughout the complex. We grew to know a lot of the neighbors and that made our experience here even better. Some of the common unpleasant reviews of the Harbours come from people who either don’t know how apartment living work or didn’t read their contract before signing. Everything is upfront and no hidden charges. We were living here before Mark took over as the residence manager and he deserves it. We met him when he first started and has been the most helpful and genuinely nice guy. To anyone looking to rent here, I lived on Riverside and absolutely loved walking to the boat ramp and watching fish jump out of the water and the occasional dolphins that jump out of the water. Or the one time we saw a manatee!

STAY AWAY! Is my advice just as my old neighbors would advise. This place is as close to a SLUM as it could possibly be. The management could care less about the unhealthy living conditions. I hired an attorney after my lease expired, and they had to refund my deposit and pay for my Attorneys fee. Horrible ownership & management staff!

$350 was added to my account, when asked, the manager said “it was for a plumber”…a plumber never came? I’m confused

Have lived here for 3 years. Front office always takes forever to call back. Electric bill is outrageous probably due to old a/c units. Had to buy my own washer and dryer because we went without for a year and a half. Also the payment system used online messed up and now we have to pay a 200 dollar late fee the manager says he cannot remove from our rent. For 1800 dollars this place is way overpriced do NOT recommend

My son and my daughter in law have just moved in and they are already are having issues. They were told that their would be a walk through before they moved in. Well they did the walk through but they failed to see the things that still needed to be repaired. They painted over doors that still had hair and dust in them. Their kitchen counter tops we’re supposed to be replaced and weren’t. Their dryer was over heating. They have mold in their bathrooms that can clearly be seen! Their window in the second bedroom was unlocked. I mean come on! My daughter in law in pregnant and she should be around mold! They have contacted the management office and they said they would come out to check the problems out but yet to do so! What kind of place is this and from what I can see their are 11 complaints of mold. This is my family living in these conditions! This does not look good for your apartments people so get the problems fixed! This is unexpectedly and at this point I would not recommend anyone living at theses apartments.

I have been living here for a year and a half now. I love my apartment. I call it my paradise. The view from my porch is great. I love seeing the ducks and birds in the pond. I find this place safe. I love going for walks and I even have to go off property. I have a choice of 2 pools and if I want to go to a gym, well, they have that here too. Its like another world. Shopping is close by, bus stops across the street and public schools are just around the corner. The office staff are friendly and always are there when I need them

The harbors lied to me and took my money. I asked for someone at the harbors to call me to do business and my request was ignored completely. What a what’s of time and money I will never recommend this complex or Hawthorne residential to anyone.

Worst place ever in Melbourne they take your application fee then tells you that you will be reimbursed but I’ve waiting a month now for them to so.

Took them MONTHS, to fix our drain in the kitchen sink. 1 out of MANY times i call the office they actually answer. I have called 4 times today, at different times, to ask a question. No Answer. Did not bother leaving a message because takes forever to get a call back. The manager told me she was going to send a person over with an AC filter right away, 4 months ago, still waiting. A/C floods quite literally every other week.we stopped calling about it because it literally takes days/a month for them to come.so we just use our own towels.for 1450 a month, little nuts.i paid quite literally half when i lived on east university and got the same treatment.you would think for that price, things would get done, and get done quickly. But of course not. Also, EVERY SINGLE LIGHT (literally 30+) in the building and surrounding area across the street blink every single time they are on and never stop, for quite some time now.my wife has epilepsy and once its dark, she cant look out any front facing window or screen.
EDIT - New Property manager made it a point to call to see what could be fixed.within 20 minutes of speaking with him, the head of maintenance was at our door.immediately fixing issues we had. The new Manager Hunter, has already done more for us than the old manager did, in 3 years.

Moved here just over two months ago. June 2022. We moved here because it looked nice, the location, and in unit washer/dryer. This is by far the poorest apartment I have lived at. Takes weeks to months to get things fixed. It feels as if there is no communication between staff. I can rarely get anyone on the phone. We have had good experiences with some of the office staff and Hunter with maintenance, however the problems outweigh the good. We had to wait a month to get the sink fixed from leaking. Our biggest problem has been the washer machine. It has taken two months to finally get a used washer that works. However, after the second time using the washer, the drain hose that was not secured popped out and flooded our laundry room and went under the wall into the bathroom. Now I am concerned for water damage and the laminate flooring is coming off in the laundry room. The maintenance man did not understand what happened and just said it popped out. He then simply tied the electrical plug cable around the hose and placed it back in and pushed the washer back to its spot before we even had a chance to clean the mess. We ended up going to the store to buy a mop and had to pull it back out to clean. The hose is still not securely fastened.

The office staff is very kind and usually helpful. If you do not like maintenance entering your home while you are not there they do a great job of respecting that. The complex has nice amenities. So far we have enjoyed living there and enjoy the price we pay as well! - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatings
Update- Maintenance proves to be an issue after living here for over a year now.living in an apartment that is falling apart at no fault of your own is less than unacceptable.

Wow, if I could give this place a negative review boy I would. Save yourself the time and money. They have roaches and the management couldn’t be anything less then professional and money hungry! Save yourself

After living here for 5 years and bringing my boy home to The Harbors we say farewell. We have grown out of our little riverside apartment. We have made our building our family and will miss them and the amazing people who work here. Thank you for all you’ve done for us and providing us with a home for the past 5 years.

I am so happy and grateful that I chose The Harbours. From my first tour of the complex, I knew I'd found a home. Shelby in the office has been very helpful. She even gave me some treats for my cats when we moved in. Dave with maintenance has been great solving minor issues for me. Even though the remodeling wasn't quite finished before I got here, I'm looking forward to my new cabinet doors getting installed soon! It's so quiet and peaceful here. And the location is convenient to stores, gas stations and the beach!)

While we ended up choosing a different place, we would have stayed just to see Irving every day. Irving deserves a raise because I have never interacted with a more kind and helpful leasing office employee in my life.

My interaction with the previous leasing agent while I was searching for an apartment was great. Despite the apartment being outta my time frame the leasing agent Jamie was very nice.

Front office staff was amazing! Shelby was very helpful with every silly question i had and walked through the whole process with me, sadly I did not rent here do to my time line but if the time frame would of worked i'd definitely be renting from the harbours!
