My husband and I had never done acupuncture, but we are so thankful that our experience has been with Rebecca. From the first session and on, she walked us through everything she was doing, making sure we were comfortable with it. She is not only an amazing acupuncturist and herbalist, but she has such a wonderful capacity for compassion and connection to truly understand what you need in your healing journey. We both have felt our experience with Rebecca has benefited our health in ways we would not have expected, and could not possibly thank her enough for her work and support in our healing journey.

I'm an active individual and recently have dealt with an injured left hamstring. I've given the injury time to heal and I've tried various methods to get my hamstring to fully recover; decreased activity, light stretching, monthly sports massages, yoga, and foam roller to get my hamstring to about 70%, but my psoas and hips were definitely out of alignment from the process. I felt like I exhausted all options and a friend of mine saw me limping while walking my dog. We had a short convo and he suggested that I setup an acupuncture appointment with Ashley at The Healing House of Alachua. I took him up on his offer as I was desperate to get closer to 100%.

I've never done acupuncture (that statement is false as of Thursday) and I went into my appointment with an open mind. Ashley started our session with a visual inspection of a body part and told me some issues that I may be experiencing which was spot on. She asked me some questions, I answered, then we started acupuncture.

I wasn't expecting the trigger point finding to be a joint effort. She'd push on an area, I'd tell her what I felt, and we'd decide what to do which was empowering. Then she started and WE were spot on in the areas we chose to work on. I do not mind needles at all so maybe I'm not the best opinion on how it felt, but I could not tell that needles were being stuck into my leg. I just felt relief. Sometimes I'd feel energy leave the affected area and travel towards my involuntarily wiggling toes to almost assist in expelling the unwanted energy, sometimes the feeling was localized (not pain but almost a constant pressure) and I'd feel that pressure decrease with every exhale, and some relief was immediate.

She left the room and a deep sense of self, relaxation, and physical/mental freedom overcame me. I was very present in the moment while my body felt almost catatonic. I was aware but unable to move, but in a very positive way. I didn't want to move as I didn't need to. My mind was clear, and my body was soaking up this ultimate state of relaxation. I had to catch myself from drooling a couple of times. She'd walk back in to check on me, it felt like she'd wiggle a few of the needles, and seemingly reminded my body that more relief needed to happen. She'd say some things and I'd reply, but the 5-10 second delay in my response was the absolute best I could do in this heightened state of body and consciousness. Overall, the experience was euphoric and mind blowing. I felt like I was an entity piloting my body and I've synced with this body for the first time (or the first time in a very long time.

After my session, my wife noticed a visible difference in me so we discussed my experience. I explained to her that it is the most relaxed I've ever been in my life for such a prolonged period of time; I'm shocked that I was there for an hour and a half as it felt like 10 minutes maximum. She does not like needles, but she does want to experience what I experienced on Thursday as she could see and feel my heightened state of relaxation. I'll make sure she leaves a review so you can get an idea of how the experience feels to someone who does not like needles.

I feel like I'm blabbering but Thursday's session has opened my mind/body to possibilities that I can't even fathom, but I believe as I've experienced it first hand. I didn't even talk about the cupping on my lower back that palpitate my psoas until it finally released.

P. S. The good friend of mine above is more of a great friend as they paid for the life changing session I described above with Ashley. I will definitely be back to see Ashley and will pay it forward by paying for my wife's session to see her as well. I hope my wife pays it forward to someone else that is dealing with a nagging pain or injury. Rebecca Wayne is a skillful acupuncturist. She is a committed healthcare professional who listens carefully and skillfully evaluates her patients. Her results are notable. My kidney disease has improved enough to be undectable. Dr Wayne has also suggested supplements which have contributed to my health. My health, precarious when I started treatment has turned the corner.

The Healing House is amazing! Had a wonderful massage by Savanah. I left feeling absolutely restored and relaxed. Inside is clean, the staff are friendly/caring, and they go above/beyond to meet the clients expectation. I will be back very soon!
